This enchanting collection of Chinese music presents instrumental solo and ensemble pieces in a variety of arrangements, from traditional to contemporary, as well as sung pieces from various regions of China in different styles. Chinese music has a unique charm all of it's own, even down to it's evocative songs titles, such as Raindrops Beating on Banana Leaves and Wild Geese Descending on the Sandy Beach. The intention of this collection is to provide a snapshot of the familiar sounds of Chinese traditional music as well as rarely heard folk songs.

Multi award-winning khoomii master Bayarbaatar Davaasuren presents a relaxing and interesting album of overtone/throat singing. After four years of directing traditional Mongolian dances and learning to play different Mongolian instruments, Davaasuren toured Mongolia with the Altai Ensemble. His awards and achievements include: 2003 Order of Artistic Merit from the Mongolian State; 2004 winner of the National Throat Singing Competition of Mongolia; 2005 winner of the Chinggis Khaan Award in China; and the 2009 Grand Prize of the International Throat Singing Symposium. This album presents not only throat singing but a wide variety of Mongolian instruments including the Morin-khuur, the Tovshuur, the Jew's Harp, and the Yatga. Davaasuren is joined on this album by Chinbat Baasankhuu who plays the 13 and 21-string yatga. This exciting new release from ARC Music offers eleven pieces of traditional and new Mongolian music!
