Limited 180gm vinyl LP pressing in gatefold jacket. The first of Sonny's albums for Impulse!, this 1965 collection caught Rollins at the peak of his creative powers, and is arguably the tenor hero's best for the label-an intense, freewheeling set, featuring classic takes on "On Green Dolphin Street" and "Three Little Words" in the company of Ray Bryant (piano), Walter Booker (bass) and Mickey Roker (drums).

Limited 180gm vinyl LP pressing.On Ella Fitzgerald -Mack The Knife: Ella In Berlin, the 43-year-old Ella rolls through her typical routine in feisty fashion on this 1960 recording, which documents the opening show of her European tour. There's the Satchmo impersonation (a joyous "Mack the Knife"), the lengthy scat showcase ("How High the Moon"), and a bevy of Gershwin and Porter tunes. Supported by pianist Paul Smith's quartet, Ella's voice sounds earthier than usual and her phrasing is as appealing as ever. She's tender on "Misty" and sultry on "Too Darn Hot." Ella is often referred to as the First Lady of Song, Queen of Jazz and Lady Ella. She was noted for her purity of tone, impeccable diction, phrasing and intonation, and a "horn-like" improvisational ability, particularly in her scat singing.

Vinyl LP pressing. The line up of drummer Art Blakey's Jazz Messengers shifted in 1961 with trumpeter Freddie Hubbard replacing Lee Morgan, pianist Cedar Walton replacing Bobby Timmons, and the addition of Curtis Fuller on trombone who joined existing members Wayne Shorter on tenor saxophone and Jymie Merritt on bass. This powerful new sextet line up first recorded on the album Mosaic, and quickly returned to the studio the next month to begin recording Buhaina's Delight.

Vinyl LP pressing. Archive holiday release. Ramsey Lewis' More Sounds of Christmas is the 1964 Argo follow-up to his very popular 1961 release, Sound of Christmas. It features Ramsey's trio throughout, as well as a number of tracks with string arrangements. The standout track is the trio's deeply-swinging version of "Jingle Bells" - with the melody played on pizzicato cello! The track was a hit upon it's initial release and is a natural addition to Christmas playlists.

Vinyl LP pressing. 2019 release. Louis Sclavis's 13th ECM recording finds the French clarinetist drawing inspiration from two sources the street art of Ernest Pignon-Ernest, and the interpretive originality of a splendid new quartet. Pignon-Ernest's works were previously the subject of Sclavis's highly acclaimed 2002 recording Napoli's Walls. This time Sclavis looks at a broader range of the artist's in situ collages from Ramallah to Rome, in search of "a dynamic, a movement that will give birth to a rhythm, an emotion, a song." In the Sclavis group, gifted bassist Sarah Murcia and expressive drummer Christophe Lavergne join pianist Benjamjn Moussay (a key collaborator on Sources and Silk and Salt Melodies) making this the first time Sclavis has explored in characteristically individual fashion - the classic jazz format of reeds, piano, bass and drums on an ECM disc. Recorded at Studios La Buissonne in the South of France and produced by Manfred Eicher.

Vinyl LP pressing. After acclaimed ECM recordings with the Maciej Obara Quartet, Polish pianist Dominik Wania delivers solo album, Lonely Shadows. Wania's sensitivity to touch, tone and texture is informed by his classical background and his instincts of a great improviser, acutely focused on the unfolding details in the responsive interior of the Auditorio Stelio Molo studio. The balanced influences from both disciplines makes him one of the most distinctive players of his generation. Produced by Manfred Eicher.

Limited 180gm vinyl LP pressing. On 1964's Into Somethin', Larry Young made it abundantly clear that he had his own unique approach to the Hammond B-3 organ. Young explored a more modal territory over the course of his six Blue Note albums including this tremendous session featuring tenor saxophonist Sam Rivers, guitarist Grant Green, and drummer Elvin Jones. This Blue Note 80 Vinyl Edition is all-analog, mastered by Kevin Gray from the original master tapes.

Vinyl LP pressing. By the time drummer Pete La Roca recorded his debut album Basra in 1965 he had already appeared on nine Blue Note sessions as a sideman and spent time in bands led by Sonny Rollins and John Coltrane. But it was another tenor titan, Joe Henderson, that La Roca brought in as the sole horn voice to front a dynamic quartet that was completed by what liner note writer Ira Gitler called "one of the most attuned rhythm sections in jazz" featuring bassist Steve Swallow and pianist Steve Kuhn.
