This recording intends to remind everyone of old traditions of Christmas and to enjoy something beautiful. This grouping of short pieces allows the listener to recognize both traditional and well-known Christmas melodies, featuring Sibylla Rubens (soprano), Julia Strobel-Bansch (oboe), Joachim Bansch (horn), and Erika Budday (organ).

On their latest Ars Produktion release, the Fratres Trio impressively demonstrates that the saxophone, long established in jazz practice, now occupies a similar firm position in relation to the classical domain; both genres - presumed opposites - having more in common than one might think. Couleurs d'un R�ve collects seven works, three in arranged format, that offer further proof of the saxophone's firm placement in the classical realm and the trio's award-winning qualities. The combination of saxophone, violin and piano gives rise to a new kind of trio: virtuoso, gripping and explosive.

The CD "Northern Lights" with violinist Kathrin ten Hagen, violist Itamar Ringel and the Folkwang Kammerorchester under the direction of Johannes Klumpp, presents works of Scandinavian and Baltic composers, in particular composers of the late Romantic and contemporary Modern periods. Featured are compositions by Ole Bull, Peteris Vasks, Kurt Atterberg, Anders Eliasson and Jean Sibelius. Consisting of sixteen youthful musicians, Essen, Germany’s Folkwang Kammerorchester, founded 1958, continues to earn acclaim through its festival performances throughout Europe and beyond.

There may be larger instruments than the trumpet, but it is certainly impossible to ignore. The trumpet is the messenger of wars, kings and ceremonies; it is a symbol of power, appellative and demanding, but also capable of touching the heart. It is not an appropriate instrument for a pastoral idyll, and yet it is suitable for atmospheric passages. The trumpet is a very versatile instrument: it hovers above the orchestra and the organ and enters into a felicitous relationship with its polyphonic counterparts, and yet it also adapts very well to a singing voice. The number of original works for trumpet in concert and chamber music settings remained very small until the end of the 19th century. In the 20th century composers finally turned their attention to the “noble instrument.” The flexible use of the trumpet in chamber music was made possible by the invention of the valve trumpet. However, the valve trumpet’s forceful sound limited its use in chamber music settings where a well-balanced sound and equal participation of the instruments was of primary concern. For this recording, Duo Friedrich-Takezawa have brought together a representative and attractive sample of 20th-century chamber music for trumpet or cornet a pistons by composers of French origin or those who received significant artistic impulses in France during the period stretching from late Romanticism to contemporary music.

Georg Hamann (b. 1960) is principal violist of the Vienna Chamber Orchestra. • In 1998, he helped co-found the ""aron quartett"". • Viennese pianist Beata Beck (b. 1986) began an intensive and long-standing chamber music partnership with Mr. Hamann in 2007."

In the development of the double harp, the addition of chromatic strings made the refined music of the late 16th century easier to play. In combination with the 'Clavemusicum omnitonum' from 1609, a polyphonic harpsichord for chromatic music, which is also used here, Das kleine Kollektiv opens new insights into the relevant repertoire. Vera Schnider is the featured harpist in this ensemble. Born in 1986 in Lucerne, she studied harp at the Lucerne Conservatory of Music with Xenia Schindler and in Detmold with Godelieve Schrama. She has appeared as soloist at KKL and the Lucerne Festival. She performs regularly with the Chamber Orchestra of Zurich and the Lucerne Symphony Orchestra. She is a founding member of ensemble proton bern as well as alumnus of the international ensemble academies run by Ensemble Modern and Ensemble Boswil.

This recording is based on the concert Boris Bloch gave on the occasion of the 125th anniversary of the death of Pyotr Ilyich Tchaikovsky on 6th November 2018 in the New Hall of the Folkwang University of Arts. On the 100th anniversary of Tchaikovsky's death on November 6th, 1993, he conducted his great opera "The Maid of Orleans" in the Odessa Opera House which was one of the first opera houses in the world to stage Tchaikovsky's greatest opera, "Queen of Spades", in January 1893. Tchaikovsky himself was in the audience. The programme is complemented by various works that Bloch has met in his life.
