Los Angeles Times Grammy and Emmy nominated composer, arranger and jazz pianist Bill Cunliffe is gathering nationwide attention with his innovative and swinging recordings and compositions He first fell under the influence of jazz by studying at Duke University with the great pianist Mary Lou Williams. He received his masters from the Eastman School of Music, and won several Down Beat Awards for his big band and orchestral pieces. After teaching at Central State University, in Wilberforce, Ohio, he toured as pianist and Warranger with the Buddy Rich Big Band, and working with Frank Sinatra. He then played and toured with many legends of jazz, including Ray Brown, Joe Henderson, Freddie Hubbard, Benny Golson, and James Moody. He currently works with his own trio, and sextet, the Clayton Brothers Quintet, trumpeter Terell Stafford, and flutist Holly Hofmann. Bill was the 1989 winner of the Thelonious Monk International Jazz Piano Competition, and has received stipends from the National Endowment for the Arts. His three albums for @R Warner/Discovery Records all charted in nationwide jazz polls. His book 'Jazz Keyboard Toolbox, ' published by Alfred Publications, is fast becoming a standard reference book in jazz, and he is now doing a DVD on beginning jazz piano for Alfred. His big band compositions are published by Kendor Music, and the University of Northern Colorado Jazz Press and his choral music by Santa Barbara Music Press. Bill is a Baldwin Pianos artist, and was Marian McPartland's guest on her famed 'Piano Jazz' radio show in 1998. As a composer and arranger, Bill has been performed by many orchestras, including the Cincinnati Pops Orchestra, the Illinois Philharmonic, the Reading (PA) Symphony, and the THenry Mancini Institute Orchestra. Among his works are a three movement 'Romantic' Fantasy for piano and orchestra, a festive overture, 'Viva Mexico,' and numerous works for big band, orchestra, chamber groups, and choir. He has writen extensively for television, and his music was recently heard in the Mirimax feature 'Comic Book-The Movie' and the Susan Sarandon movie, 'The Banger Sisters.' He is currently composer in residence at All Saints Episcopal Church, in Pasadena, California, teaches jazz piano at the University of Southern California, and directs combos at the Henry Mancini Institute. Among Bill's latest projects include 'Live at Bernies' a trio project with Brad Mehldau bassist Darek Oles and former Bill Evans drummer Joe La Barbera, and his well-regarded sextet has just released their second album, 'How My Heart Sings' (The Music of Earl ''Zindars) for Torii Records.

Grammy Award winner Jason Vieaux joins forces with the esteemed Escher Quartet to produce a recording with some new and old works with dance themes in common. These three works may share elements of dance-inspired music, and contain actual allusions to specific dances in the titles (or expressive markings) of certain movements, but that is where the similarities end. These guitar quintets, all from very different periods, couldn’t be any more different from each other in style, timbre, texture and dynamics. They show the musical range and flexibility of the guitar within a more traditional chamber music group setting.

Internationally renowned flutist Carol Winsenc joins forces with the Escher String Quartet, Tanya Dusevic Witek also on flute, and pianists Stephen Gosling and Emile Naoumoff to present this dynamic recording of the compositions of Yuko U�bayashi. The opening piece, Misericordia pour fl�te et quatuor � cordes was composed for Carol Wincenc. Hailed "Queen of the Flute" (New York Magazine) at the outset of her, now, brilliant 48 year career, flutist Carol Wincenc was First Prize Winner of the (sole) Walter W. Naumburg Solo Flute Competition, as well as the Lifetime Achievement Award recipient from the National Flute Association, the National Society of Arts and Letters Gold Medal for Lifetime Achievement in Music, and Distinguished Alumni Awards from Manhattan School of Music and the Brevard Music Center. During the past two seasons she performed, recorded and gave masterclasses as an exclusive Burkart Flutes Artist in Beijing, Shenyang, Seoul, Warsaw, Prague, Venice, Nice, and Thessoloniki.

The traditional songs of the Christmas holiday are offered here by the Salzedo Harp Duo, their third release on Azica Records. The Salzedo Harp Duo, named after groundbreaking composer Carlos Salzedo, is Jody Guinn and Nancy Lendrim. Jody Guinn has been the principal harpist of the Akron Symphony Orchestra and the Cleveland Opera since 1984. She has been substituting or playing extra harp with the Cleveland Orchestra since 1986. Guinn shares her love of the instrument with several private students and is on the harp faculty of colleges across the region. Jody Guinn has been the principal harpist of the Akron Symphony Orchestra and the Cleveland Opera since 1984. She played for the Cleveland Ballet and the Ohio Chamber Orchestra for 16 years while both organizations were in existence in Cleveland. She has been substituting or playing extra harp with the Cleveland Orchestra since 1986 including multiple tours to Europe, New York City’s Carnegie Hall and Washington D.C.’s Kennedy Center.

Ted Soluri became the principal bassoonist of the Dallas Symphony Orchestra in 2015. Prior to his appointment, he held the same position with the Milwaukee Symphony Orchestra for eleven years and the Santa Fe Opera for nine. Over the years, Mr. Soluri has performed recitals to great acclaim at the International Double Reed Society (IDRS) conferences in Muncie, IN, Norman, OK and Tempe, AZ. Throughout his career, Mr. Soluri has attended many music festivals, including the National Repertory Orchestra, the National Orchestral Institute, and the Los Angeles Philharmonic Institute. In 1994, he was privileged to work under Sir Georg Solti at Carnegie Hall as a member of the prestigious Solti Orchestral Project. In the summer of 2005, Mr. Soluri was invited to play as principal bassoonist for three weeks at the Grand Teton Music Festival in Jackson Hole, Wyoming. He is also a regular performer with the Santa Fe Chamber Music Festival. On this release, he performs opera arias and songs, including selections from Le Nozze di Figaro, L’elisir d’amore, La traviata, and many more.

Ivan Zenaty and Sandra Shapiro met through their mutual love for chamber music, and their recent collaboration has created a stir in the classical music world. This album by the duo features works by Richard Strauss and Bohuslav Martinu. With a sound that is “airtight and commanding”, the group embodies the highest level of artistry and audience engagement.
