This release is the latest installment in Federico Guglielmo’s cycle of Vivaldi’s complete Opus 1-12, and includes the twelve violin concertos, also known as “La Cetra.” The work is dedicated to Charles VI, the holy Roman Emperor of the Hapsburg empire. As in Vivaldi’s other works like “L’Estro Armonico” and “La Stravaganza,” these concertos are full of virtuosic writing, brilliant runs, and exude the style of the first Viennese School. This Vivaldi cycle conceived by Federico Guglielmo and performed by L’Arte dell’Arco is considered one of the most exciting in decades.
