Samuel Lord Kalcheim composes in a variety of styles, old and new, and is dedicated to writing music both emotionally and intellectually satisfying, balancing tender lyricism with tight, complex formal architecture. Building on an expertise in 18th and 19th c. styles and forms, Samuel writes expressive new music for today's sensibilities.

Jose Elizondo is a multifaceted Mexican composer. He studied at the Massachusetts Institute of Technology (MIT) and at Harvard University. In the field of technology, Jose works full-time as an engineer in a company that specializes in speech recognition technology systems. As a composer, Jose writes chamber and orchestral music in a style that is lyrical and expressive, often drawing inspiration from Latin American folk music.

Statement from the Composer: Musical composition is the revelation of one's innermost being. Writing for voice is one of the most meaningful forms of musical expression. Most of my writing is based on personal experiences in my life: memorializing a friend, the death of a child, a celebration of friendship, or other joyful occasions. My philosophy of vocal repertoire is the marriage of voice and piano, an equal partnership. Text is of ultimate importance. Text determines the mood, melody, style, and in the end, the accompaniment. It is my prayer that my music in some small way will be meaningful to those who hear and bring these texts to life.

This album features the late piano works of Johannes Brahms, beautifully played by pianist Daniel Shapiro.

There is a very special connection in the collaboration between composer and performer. While this connection most often exists through the veil of life and death, I have been blessed with the joy of working with a living composer. I began exploring the piano music of Gregory Mertl in 2015 when I first learned and performed his Souffle et Contresouffle and subsequently Pears on a Sill. I have always felt a deep emotional connection to the music that I perform, and I was immediately drawn to Greg's musical language. We were introduced by a mutual friend and have happily remained musically connected. It is because of this friendship that Pictures Without an Exhibition came into being, and it is truly one of the greatest gifts I have ever received. The sheer scope and imagination behind it are so far beyond anything I could have dreamed of when I commissioned him to write a piece for me in 2019, and I am hopeful that the musical world will delight in it as deeply as I have.

Masks under the Mask is an album of some of the greatest piano works by Robert Schumann. The pianist, Ham Can, comments: In this album, I have included six sets of character pieces, ranging from his early "Papillons, Op. 2," inspired by the idea of a masked ball, to one of his later, more chromatic works, "Drei Fantasiestucke.

This album features four absolutely first-rate 21st Century American trumpet sonatas, wonderfully performed by Brennan Rudy, with pianist Jessica McKee.

Jeffrey Chappell performs three great pianos sonatas from the 20th Century, by Alberto Ginastera, Charles T. Griffes, and Samuel Barber

This album comprises seven solo, chamber, and orchestral pieces composed over almost forty years. It does not include any compositions for Japanese instruments or for early instruments which are well-represented in other albums by David Loeb. All of the pieces were written specifically for the performers who have played them here.

This is an album largely consisting of solo violin works by Paganini, but also with two Paganini works for violin and piano. Argentine violinist Tomas Cotik, who has made a number of recordings for Centaur, is the ideal performer for these works.

Charlotte Mattax Moersch performs major keyboard works by Bach, that are now usually performed on harpsichord, on the lautenwerk. The lautenwerk is sometimes referred to as a lute harpsichord; it is a harpsichord-like instrument with a major exception; the strings are gut, giving it a far more mellow sound. Bach often performed his own works on a lautenwerk.

Brian Buch says about this album: I often compose pieces in collections of works. Composed between 2016 and 2018, the music on this CD predominantly features music from a collection I call Maze of Infinite Forms. Inspired by the writings of the Indian polymath Rabindranath Tagore, these pieces extract insanity from the ordinary - often presenting a simple idea in the current of chaos. This music lives on the edge of certainty - embracing while at times fearful of sudden descent into madness.

Composer Gregory Hutter holds degrees from Western Michigan University (BM), the University of Michigan (MM), the University of Illinois (MLIS), and Northwestern University (DM). For nearly two decades he served on the music faculties at DePaul University (2002-2019) and the University of Illinois at Chicago (2013-2020). His works have been performed by numerous orchestras and smaller ensembles.

Canadian pianist Richard Raymond performs four favorite Beethoven piano sonatas, including the Moonlight, Appassionata, and Pathetique. A prize-winner in multiple competitions, Raymond has performed with the Montreal and Toronto Symphonies, and many others. He has also performed as a soloist in numerous countries, as well as playing chamber music.

Night Surrendering to Dawn features an engaging and eclectic program of works for flute and piano by 21st century composers Valerie Coleman, Christian Ellenwood, Amanda Harberg, and Samuel Zyman. As we move through unprecedented and challenging times, we hope that the pieces on this program serve to remind us that light and hope will return after the dark.

This is an album of great temporary organ music, based on biblical themes.

This album comprises compositions for various Asian instruments from Japan to India, some combined with Western instruments. Traditional performance techniques figure more prominently in some pieces than in others. Most of these recordings were previously released, but are long out-of-print. They have benefitted from recent advances in editing technology.

The primary focus here is on the combination of violin, piano, and organ. Superb performances.

This album offers a great program of works for piano trio from the 20th and 21st centuries.
