This is an album of great works by the master of the tango, Astor Piazzolla, brilliantly performed on violin, cello, and piano. The Piazzolla da Camera Trio celebrates ten years dedicated to the exclusive performance of the works of modern tango master Astor Piazzolla. Having travelled the world to bring attention to the beauty and bravado of what audiences and critics have celebrated as 'exquisitely Argentine' and 'simply delicious in execution,' these musicians strive to look beyond the written note, and bring to light the rich colors and sounds of the Buenos Aires cityscape. The Piazzolla da Camera Trio's recent debut at the prestigious St-Martin-in-the-Fields in London received a standing ovation from a standing-room only audience. In addition to regular appearances in Arizona and New Mexico, the group has performed and taught educational workshops in Thailand. The Piazzolla da Camera Trio consists of violinist Carla Kountoupes, cellist Andrew Nickles, and pianist Oscar Macchioni.

The music in this new album is characterized by modern jazz inflections within a neoclassical framework and with a hint of contemporary classical influences. Amos Gillespie's music has been heard on WFMT in Chicago, WQXR in New York City and PBS. His music spans a wide range of genres including chamber and orchestra concert music, jazz, as well as music for film, theater and dance. His music has been commissioned and performed by the International Contemporary Ensemble (ICE), Atlantic Music Festival Contemporary Ensemble, Third Millennium Ensemble, Eclipse Theater, Barkada Saxophone Quartet, Chicago Q Ensemble, Access Contemporary Music (ACM) and the Chicago Composers Orchestra among many others. Amos has received special recognition and finalist awards from ASCAP, League of Composers (ISCM), American Prize, Columbia Orchestra, the Macarthur Foundation and the Illinois Arts Council, and has won numerous grants including the 2013 IAS professional development grant through the Illinois Arts Council, a Lucerne fellowship through the Chicago sister cities program and the Swiss benevolent society, as well as the 2008 Evanston Cultural Arts Grant and several Chicago Community Arts Assistance Program Grants (CAAP).

Robert Schumann wrote some of the greatest works ever written for piano, four hands. Martha Fischer and Bill Lutes turn in beautiful performances of this great music. Martha Fischer is professor of piano at the University of Wisconsin-Madison School of Music, where she heads the collaborative piano program. A sought-after accompanist and chamber musician, she has performed throughout the United States and Europe with many internationally recognized singers and instrumentalists. In a review of Fischer's recording with trombonist Mark Hetzler, American Voices II, American Record Guide wrote: "At least half of the credit for these superb readings must go to her, for she is a marvelous pianist, profound interpreter, and expert collaborator." Bill Lutes an independent piano teacher living in Madison. From 2000 to 2011 he was Artist-in-Residence at the University of Wisconsin/Madison where he served as vocal coach for the University Opera. As pianist he has performed nationally as soloist and collaborative musician. Mr. Lutes received degrees piano performance from the Universities of Kentucky and Wisconsin-Madison, and the Artist's Diploma from the New England Conservatory of Music.. He has taught piano and masterclasses at the Interlochen Arts Camp and at the Selma Levine School in Washington D.C.

Kermit Poling writes music that is beautifully crafted, and immediately accessible. It is full of beautiful, melodic lines. The Guitar concerto, written for Guitarist Giovanni De Chiaro, who performs it here, is one of the greatest guitar concertos of the past 50 years. Named by Forum Magazine as one of the top ten faces to watch, Kermit Poling is celebrating his 22nd season as Music Director of the South Arkansas Symphony and his 27th season as Music Director of the Shreveport Metropolitan Ballet. He is in his 31st year as Associate Conductor of the Shreveport Symphony, an orchestra where he also was Concertmaster for over 27 years. He has produced the Shreveport Symphony’s broadcast series since 1987, having also produced radio programming for WBUR Boston and other public radio stations. He serves as General Manager of the Red River Radio public radio network at LSUS having been appointed to the position in 2006. This is an album of great clarinet works of the 20th Century, both works for clarinet and piano and works for clarinet solo. Clarinetist Jonathan Holden and pianist Eun-Hee Park perform these works with great aplomb. Jonathan Holden is Assistant Professor of Clarinet at Florida State University, Principal Clarinetist of the West Michigan Symphony and a member of the Tallahassee Symphony Orchestra. A frequent guest of numerous orchestras, he has performed with ensembles such as the Grand Rapids, Kalamazoo, Baton Rouge and Lansing symphony orchestras, the Fort Wayne Philharmonic, the Mobile Symphony and the Sarasota Orchestra. He is a founding member of the Vireo Ensemble and the Argot Trio. Praised by The New York Concert Review for “a solid foundation of fluent pianism” after her debut at Carnegie Hall’s Weill Recital Hall, Korean pianist Eun-Hee Park enjoys a diverse career as soloist, chamber musician, and educator. She has given numerous concerts throughout the United States, South Korea, Japan, Italy, Brazil, and Costa Rica.

The present release is an album of piano transcriptions of works by Johann Strauss I and II, Kritz Kreisler, and Franz Schubert. The arrangers include great pianists such as Sergei Rachmaninoff, Moriz Rosenthal, and Carl Tausig. Dr. Muen Wei, a native of China, has performed internationally as a soloist, chamber musician, orchestral pianist, and jazz pianist. She has been applauded by critics for her “delicate playing” and “admirable virtuosic skills.”(The News-Gazette) She has been guest soloist under the baton of Ian Hobson, Donald Schleicher, and Xiaoying Zheng. As a chamber musician, Dr. Wei has collaborated with great musicians such as Lynn Harrell, Henry Gronnior, Peter Lloyd, Ko Iwasaki and Stan Sharp, ​among others. Dr. Wei also performed in many prestigious festivals such as the Gilmore Keyboard Festival and the Montecito International Music Festival. In July 2017, she was invited to give a solo recital at the Dean Acheson Auditorium of the US State Department.

The period instrument ensemble, Arcanum, presents a beautiful program of works by Boismortier. The baroque ensemble Arcanum was born when Tony Boutte (tenor) and Colin St. Martin (traverso) were asked to put together a concert for the International Conference on the History of Alchemy and Chymistry, held in Philadelphia, PA during the summer of 2007. The concert focused on music that was in some way connected with alchemy, chemistry or magic. One meaning for the term “arcanum” is “a deep secret or mystery” which suited the theme of the event well. The concert was extremely well received, and the ensemble (made up of the two core members, plus harpsichord, cello, violin and viola) was encouraged to continue. Just two years later, Boutte and St. Martin found themselves in Coral Gables, FL where Boutte is now on the voice faculty of the Frost School of Music. (St. Martin is still on faculty at Peabody Conservatory in Baltimore, MD, but spends most of his time between performing jobs and Coral Gables.)

The Dvorak Requiem is a major requiem mass that is far too seldom heard. One of the reasons is doubtless it's sheer scale: a work scored for large forces running typically about 95 to 100 minutes. This is a major work that deserves to be heard far more often. Established in 1956, the Philharmonic "Mihail Jora" of Bacau, Romania, today gathers a group of approximately 70 musicians, of which the best are the chamber orchestra "Tescana", the members of the renowned "Trio Syrinx". (Dorel Baicu - flute, Adrian Petrescu - oboe, Pavel Ionescu - bassoon). The repertoire of the orchestra contains parts of symphonic music, vocal-orchestral and chamber, a great variety of periods and musical styles: Renaissance, Baroque, Classicism, Romanticism and Contemporary. Apart from the weekly concerts, the Philharmonic organizes several national festivals: "Orpheus of Moldova", "The days of contemporary music", "The workshop of young composers".

As President and Tonal Director of Aeolian-Skinner, G. Donald Harrison affixed his signature to the consoles of his proudest projects, of which Op. 1174 (1951) in Longview, Texas, is one. The present recording of an all-British program recognizes the transplanted Englishman Harrison's work. Organist Joby Bell brings to his performances a contagious affability and a keen sensitivity toward increasing an audience's appreciation for organ music. His recital programming demonstrates a varied and interesting repertoire, always enhanced by illuminating program notes designed to embrace all audiences. His acclaimed blog at www. JobyBell. In 2000 he garnered Second Prize and the Audience Prize in the American Guild of Organists National Young Artists Competition in Organ Performance. His teaching specializes in practice techniques, memorization, service playing, choral accompanying, and maintaining grace under pressure - lessons always best taught by example.

This album features two Choral masterpieces by Durufle, with performances for chorus, organs, and soloists. The UNI Concert Chorale is a mixed ensemble of 36 undergraduate and graduate students selected by competitive audition from all academic disciplines at the University of Northern Iowa. Recent performances include requiems by Brahms and Mozart, Ralph Vaughan William's Hodie, and Tarik O'Reagan's Triptych. Concert Chorale has performed for national and regional conventions of the American Choral Directors Association and tours both domestically and internationally. Founded in 1960, the Glee Club is among the most active and cherished organizations at the University of Northern Iowa. Twice each week, over one hundred students join each other in song to pursue the Excellence, embody the Tradition, and live the Camaraderie of the Glee Club.
