A recital of Edvard Grieg's lovely Lyric Pieces for piano, transcribed for solo guitar. Guitarist Peter Fletcher wrote the transcriptions for this recording. Energheia derives from Greek and means "transformation, change in progress." Italian composer and performer Maurizio Carrettin composed and recorded this far-reaching electro-acoustic project. The composer studied flute at the Parma Conservatory and teaches at the Conservatory "Lucio Campiani" in Mantova, Italy.

Sophia Agranovich, internationally acclaimed virtuoso pianist, and esteemed pedagogue, is a recipient of numerous teaching awards. Described by Fanfare magazine as "a bold, daring pianist in the tradition of the Golden Age Romantics," the Ukrainian-born pianist takes to the keyboard for her second Centaur release, offering up a program perfectly suited to Golden Age aficionados, Schubert's 'Wanderer' Fantasy, D760, and Chopin's Four Ballades, each a masterpiece in itself yet superseding the one before, culminating in the brilliant fourth and last Ballade, the F minor, op. 52.

Composer, pianist, and teacher Jeanne-Louise Dumont Farrenc was born in 1804 into an artistic and bohemian Parisian family. She studied with Anton Reicha at the Paris Conservatory, where she later became a professor. She was the only female professor at the Conservatory in the 19th century. Her most famous works are chamber music compositions.

Rebecca Rust, cello, and Friedrich Edelmann, bassoon, have played together in duos, trios and larger chamber music groups for over 30 years. From their home base in Germany, this huband-and-wife team performs in America, Europe and Japan including radio and TV productions. Praised by Carlo Maria Giulini for her "exceptional musicality," the American cellist Rebecca Rust, a native of California, received her first piano lessons with her mother at the age of five and began cello lessons with Margaret Rowell. Rowell said: "Rebecca Rust is one of the most talented cellists that I have had the pleasure of teaching. Blessed with a beautiful ear and facility, she has used these gifts as tools to dig deep into the music itself, thereby giving her listeners a profound musical experience. Rebecca Rust is a brilliant cellist." Friedrich Edelmann grew up in Kaiserslautern, Germany. He studied with Alfred Rinderspacher, Klaus Thunemann, and Milan Turkovic. In 1977 he became the Principal Bassoonist of the Munich Philharmonic Orchestra. They are joined on this recording by pianist Scott Faigen.

Dinos Constantinides is the Professor of Composition at Louisiana State University. He studied at Juilliard, Indiana University and Michigan State University. His teaching achievements include a 1994 White House Commission on Presidential Scholars' Distinguished Teacher and a National Foundation for Advancements in the Arts awards.

This Centaur new release marks Vol. 3 of pianist Jeni Slotchiver’s “Busoni the Visionary” series. Ms. Slotchiver has toured throughout North America as lecturer and recitalist. She has presented all-Busoni programs at universities, festivals and concert series. Her 1997 Merkin Hall recital, the first all-Busoni program in NYC in over thirty years, won the "heartfelt appreciation" of the Busoni Foundation. Belgian soprano Iris Hendrickx has a great love of the major French operatic literature, and it shows in these warm, passionate performances. Recorded live in Milan, the performances are aided by one of the finest Italian orchestras and conductor Patrick Fournillier, who is a specialist in this French operatic literature. Iris has sung in opera houses and concert halls all over the world including Opera Vlaanderen, Op�ra de Lille, Op�ra de Wallonie, Op�ra Bergen, Concertgebouw Amsterdam, Pollack Concert Hall Montreal and Palais des Beaux Arts Brussels. Acclaimed as a versatile lyric soprano she has been invited by numerous International Festivals such as Ottawa International Chamber Festival, KLARA Festival, Rotterdamse Operadagen, Bergen International Festival, Festival International du Domaine Forget and The Musimars Festival Montreal. Iris has been an award and scholarship winning member of The International Vocal Arts Institute Montreal, OperaWorks Los Angeles and The Meditteranean Opera Studio singing the roles of Violetta (La Traviata), Mimi (La Boh�me) and Laititia (The old maid and the Thief).
