The eight-member, San Francisco Bay Area-based Archetti Baroque String Ensemble was founded in 2010 by violinist Carla Moore and viola da gambist John Dornenburg to perform the rich chamber concerto repertory of the Baroque era in historically-informed style without a conductor. The ensemble's name, "little bows" in Italian, alludes to the dominance of bowed stringed instruments in the Italian Baroque concerto repertory. Born and raised in Foggia, Italy, Antonio Pompa-Baldi first came to the U.S. in 1999 to participate in the Cleveland International Piano Competition. He won the First Prize, and embarked on a career that continues to extend across five continents. Jack Gallagher is a GRAMMY®-winning composer whose works have been recorded by numerous ensembles such as the London Symphony, Virginia Symphony, Polish Radio Symphony Orchestra, the U.S. Air Force Band of Flight and many others. The Cleveland Plain Dealer said his music "evokes glowing images" and exhibits "glistening personality." Frank Huang brings Gallagher's works to life on this recording. Huang is an Assistant Professor of Piano at Miami University, Oxford, Ohio. He previously served as a faculty member at The College of Wooster and The Cleveland Institute of Music. Described by New York Concert Review as a "thoughtful and accomplished performer" and that his playing was "impressive for its maturity and refinement," Mr. Huang has gained international recognition for his artistry and technical command.

The recipient of important awards and prizes, Charlotte Mattax Moersch first gained critical attention as a top prize-winner in 1980 and 1983 at the International Harpsichord Competitions of Bruges and Paris. She was honored with a Solo Recitalist Grant from the National Endowment for the Arts and a Woolley Scholarship for study in Paris. Professor Mattax Moersch studied with Gustav Leonhardt at the Sweelinck Conservatory, Bob van Asperen at the Hague Conservatory, and Kenneth Gilbert in Paris. Charlotte Mattax Moersch has performed on harpsichord at concerts and music festivals worldwide.

A specialist in 17th-century French music, she is the author of the book, Accompaniment on Theorbo and Harpsichord: Denis Delair’s Traité of 1690, published by Indiana University Press.

Rarely heard French baroque composer Pierre Février (1696–1760) was also an organist and harpsichordist. Février lived in Paris and served as organist at two churches on the Saint-Honoré street: the Jacobins' church and Saint Roch. He composed two volumes of harpsichord pieces the first of which is dated 1734 and contains five suites in the elegant and individual keyboard style of the French Baroque.

Four fantastic French works are featured on this new release from cellist Alexander Russakovsky and pianist Amber Shay Nicholson. Gabriel Faure, Cesar Franck, Maurice Ravel, and Francis Poulenc are pillars in the French music repertoire, and the artists present their works here in a way that would make any Frenchman proud and any listener take note. Dr. Alexander Russakovsky is a member of the faculty of the School of Music at the University of Southern Mississippi, where he came aboard in 2001. He studied at the Leningrad Conservatory, and the Jerusalem Rubin Academy. He is a founding member of the Jerusalem Academy String Quartet. Amber Shay Nicholson holds a doctorate in piano performance. She performs regularly throughout the country, but also enjoys teaching and maintains a full studio.

Writing in an idiom characterized by it's immediate accessibility, Boyd Prof. Of Composition at LSU Dinos a, recipient of many grants, commissions and awards, has had his music performed throughout the world, with his orchestral music in particular receiving rave reviews. This latest Centaur release of music by Mr. Constantinides once again puts the focus on orchestral work, with particular emphasis on productions featuring spotlighted soloists in concerted forms. All but one of the works also features the composer in the role of conductor, making these recordings de facto definitive.
