...Soul Movies... is a concept album by Italian pianist and composer Sebastian Di Bin, with Movies as an underlying idea. It features ten works by Di Bin himself, as well as his own arrangements for piano of works by Jerome Kern, Oscar Peterson, Freddie Mercury, and Stig Anderson, Bjorn Ulvaeus, and Benny Anderson. Sebastian di Bin was born in Udine (Italy) on 23/10/1981. He began studying piano at 7 years. In 2002 he graduated with highest marks at “Conservatory G. Rossini” in Pesaro (Italy). In 1993 he won the entrance competition at International Imola's Academy (Italy) of piano “Incontri col Maestro”, where he was trained by Maestri Franco Scala and Piero Rattalino. He also studied experimental composition with Maestro Di Bari. In year 2007 he gained the International Academy Diploma of High Perfectionism and in the following year the post-Diploma. Afterwards he studied composition with the compositor Remo Vinciguerra and wrote a book made of 15 of his own compositions. He finished his piano studies at the International Academy “Beniamino Gigli” in Recanati

Violinist Carol Lieberman has had a distinguished career performing music ranging from the Baroque to modern times. This album, The Art of Carol Lieberman, Volume 2, focuses upon here performances of modern works. Carol Lieberman has been one of the leading exponents of Baroque violin performance for three decades and is equally well known for her performances of 19th and 20th century violin repertoire. She has concertized throughout Europe and North and South America, and frequently performs for radio and television, including Radio Nacional Espana, Belgian Radio, the Canadian Broadcasting Corporation and National Public Radio. Ms. Lieberman performs as violinist of the Lieberman-Kroll Duo, the Early Music Ensemble of Boston, and is first violinist and founder of the Quartetto Tomasini, a period instrument string quartet.

Rita D’Arcangelo, born in Guardiagrele, Italy, began studying flute at the State Conservatory of Music in Pescara, where she graduated with distinction, studying with Sandro Carbone. She holds degrees from the Royal Northern College of Music in Manchester, the International Academy of Music in Milan, where she studied with Raffaele Trevisani, and the Hochschule fur Musik in Mannheim (Master in Orchestral Studies and Soloist Diploma), where she studied with Jean-Michel Tanguy. She has received numerous awards, including 1st prize at the flute competition of the Rotary Club of Pescara, 2nd prize at the 11th International Flute Competition “A. Ponchielli” in Cremona, and 1st prize at the Alexander and Buono International Flute Competition for 2011 in New York City. She is currently Flute Lecturer at the Department of Music at the State German University BTU- Cottbus. Her previous albums, “Allegro con brio” and “A Virtuoso Journey” have both been critically acclaimed. This new release features solo flute music from Baroque master, J. S. Bach.

The Italian composer Tommaso Giordani (1738 - 1806) wrote a substantial body of works, including a number of operas. This album features a set of first-rate duos for two cellos, beautifully performed by Charlie Rasmussen and Anton TenWolde. Charlie Rasmussen strives to help his students develop a lifelong passion for music and cello playing. Mr. Rasmussen is currently a cello faculty member and string department co-chair at the Wisconsin Conservatory of Music in Milwaukee where he teaches private and group cello lessons, musicianship classes, and coaches chamber ensembles. He was previously on faculty at the Talent Education Suzuki School in Norwalk, CT. an Amerongen, cellist with the The Hague Philharmonic Orchestra (Residentie Orkest). While earning his degree in Applied Physics at the Delft University of Technology in the Netherlands, Anton performed with Ton Koopman, and toured with the Netherlands Student Chamber Orchestra and the Netherlands Student Baroque Orchestra. In 1973 he moved to Madison, Wisconsin, where he worked for 27 years as a Research Physicist and Project Leader at the Forest Products Laboratory. For many years he played principal cello with the Wisconsin Chamber Orchestra. He is a founding member of the Wisconsin Baroque Ensemble and regularly performs with the Madison Bach Musicians and the Bach Collegium-Fort Wayne.

Here is where we ended up...” Kevin Jones recently joined the Florida State University College of Music faculty as Assistant Professor of Jazz Trombone in 2016 after previously holding teaching appointments at the University of Texas at Austin, the University of South Carolina, Lander University, and Presbyterian College. As a performing artist, Dr. Jones toured with James Brown, Kenny Loggins, the Ringling Bros. Circus, and Princess Cruise Lines. He has numerous performing credits with jazz and commercial artists including the Temptations, Bucky Pizzarelli, Aretha Franklin, Joshua Redman, David Sanborn, Bill Holman, Jeff “Tain” Watts, Jim McNeely, Burt Bacharach, and Barry Manilow. Bill Peterson began his career in Chicago as a pianist and conductor/arranger/contractor for many celebrity artists, sharing the stage with celebrity greats including Ramsey Lewis, Diane Schuur, Patti Labelle, Frankie Valli and The Four Seasons, Smokey Robinson, Red Buttons, Suzanne Somers, Steve Allen, Joan Rivers, Morey Amsterdam, Kathie Lee Gifford, Mary Hart, Bob Newhart, Tony Bennett, George Burns, Danny Thomas, and Las Vegas sensation, Danny Gans.

This album features two song cycles for soprano and piano by contemporary composer Masatoshi Mitsumoto. "Songs of Innocence" and "Songs of Experience" are both set to the poetry of William Blake. Mitsumoto was born in Tokyo, Japan and graduated from the Tokyo University of Fine Arts. He continued his studies at the Paris Conservatory with Paul and Maud Tortelier, Nice International Academy with Andre Navarra, and University of Southern California with Gregor Piatigorsky. Mitsumoto started his career as a cellist. In addition, he was a faculty member of the University of Nevada, Las Vegas; California State University, Los Angeles; and Whittier College. While in Los Angeles, he worked as a Hollywood Studio musician and for the Pasadena Symphony. When in Las Vegas, he worked in the hotel showrooms as a musician for many stars, including Frank Sinatra, Shirley McLain, and Sammy Davis, Jr. He now lives in California and focuses on composing and conducting.

Russian composer Nikolai Medtner left behind an amazing body of works for solo piano. This is the first volume in what will be an integral recorded edition of Medtner's solo piano works, performed by Frank Huang. Frank Huang is a Steinway Artist and currently serves as an Associate Professor of Piano at Miami University, Oxford, Ohio. Previously, he was a faculty member at The College of Wooster and The Cleveland Institute of Music. Described by New York Concert Review as a "thoughtful and accomplished performer" and that his playing was "impressive for it's maturity and refinement," Mr. Huang has gained international recognition for his artistry and technical command.

Schubert moved to Vienna in early 1817, which was the center of musical activities in Europe at that time. Schubert focused strongly upon composing piano sonatas, and the result was these four superb works. Korean-born pianist Sookkyung Cho brings these sonatas truly to life. Noted for her sensitive and imaginative (New York Concert Review) playing, Sookkyung Cho has been captivating worldwide audiences with her personal, thoughtful expressionist style. She has appeared in venues such as Alice Tully Hall at Lincoln Center, Weill Recital Hall at Carnegie Hall, Chicago Cultural Center, Sarasota Opera House, Baltimore Museum of Art, Montreal Conservatory, Beaux concerts de la releve in Quebec, Château de Fontainebleau in France, and Zijingang Theater at Zhejiang University in China, among others, and was recently heard on Chicagos WFMT.

Circadia is an album of works by contemporary American composer Andrew Rudin. It features his pieces Portrait Miniatures: Three Women; A Sudden Waking; Sonata for Piano; Ephemera; Circadia. Rudin’s reputation was established in the 1960’s through his association with Robert Moog and a pioneering series of synthesized compositions, most notably his Nonesuch album, Tragoedia. Throughout the 1970’s many of his compositions were theatrical in nature, involving collaborations with ballet and modern dance, film, television, and incidental music for the stage. A number of these works blended electronically synthesized sound with traditional instruments and voices. The 1980’s saw the completion of his full-evening opera Three Sisters, on a libretto by William Ashbrook from the play by Chekhov, as well as many works for traditional instruments, both orchestral and chamber music. After his graduation from The University of Pennsylvania, where he studied primarily with George Rochberg, he joined the faculty of The Philadelphia Musical Academy, remaining there for the next thirty-seven years, as it eventually became part of the present University of the Arts. Since his retirement in 200l he has worked as a broadcaster for WWFM, The Classical Network from Mercer County Community College, and served on the board of directors for Philadelphia’s Orchestra 2001.

Franz Schubert is perhaps the greatest of all composers of art songs. He left huge body of songs for voice and piano of amazing quality. The song cycle Winterreise stands out even among this literature. Steven Tharp sings with great understanding and sensitivity, beautifully accompanied by Janice Wenger on fortepiano. Steven Tharp has been praised by Opera News for the “bel canto flexibility and sweetness” of his voice, while the New Yorker has described his voice as “strong, free, and forward in tone, verbally sure, lyrical in utterance.”

This new release features three of the greatest piano works by Schumann, superbly performed on fortepiano. DAVID HYUN-SU KIM has distinguished himself as one of the most thoughtful and distinctive musicians to emerge from the newest generation of American pianists. His concerts have been praised as “emotionally expansive” and “idiomatically perfect,” his interpretations as “spectacular,” and his Schumann playing has been singled out as “splendid and moving … His Florestan was elegantly calamitous, and his melodies representing Eusebius were like a dear friend whispering arcane truths to only you.” A sought-after pedagogue and adjudicator, David has taught at Yale and Harvard Universities. His students have gone on to win prizes in international competitions and been accepted for graduate study at Eastman, Oberlin, the University of Michigan, CCM, Indiana University, and similar institutions.

Born in Kharkov, USSR, Alexander Meshibovsky has had a substantial performing career. This is an album of live performances of great works. ALEXANDER MESHIBOVSKY has appeared as soloist with orchestras including the Hamburg Philharmonic, the RIAS Symphony of Berlin, the Leipzig Gewandhaus Orchestra, the North German Radio Orchestra in Hanover, the Bavarian State Radio Orchestra in Munich, the Bamberg Symphony and the European Union Youth Symphony. He has been featured on programs with prominent conductors such as Christoph von Dohnanyi, Ricardo Chailly, Edo de Waart, Klaus Tennstedt, Thomas Sanderling, and Vladimir Ashkenazy. Mr. Meshibovsky has served for many years as Professor of Violin at East Tennessee State University and the University of West Virginia, and is currently on the faculty of the Music Department at Lehman College, Columbia University Teachers College, and Long Island University.

Composer David Loeb was born in 1939 to a family which took music and the arts very seriously. He studied first with Peter Pindar Stearns at the Mannes College of Music, and then received his master’s degree from Yale. His catalog of compositions is quite remarkably extensive and diverse. In addition to the typical assortment of works for orchestra, chamber ensembles, and voice, he has also composed extensively for Asian instruments and for early music instruments. Sometimes, he even brings the two worlds together and scores for combinations like four shakuhachi and four viols. This release features seven of Loeb’s compositions, which have been recorded over the course of three decades.

Born in 1884 in Cincinnati, Wintter Watts, a prolific yet largely forgotten early twentieth-century composer, wrote music filled with beauty, warmth, and depth. This recording of his songs shows just what has been missed through performances of his music being so rare. American tenor John Carlo Pierce enjoys an international reputation for beautiful sound and incisive acting. He holds a Master of Music degree from the Eastman School of Music and Doctor of Musical Arts degree from the University of Connecticut. He was recently assistant professor of voice at New Mexico State University, and director of the Doña Ana Lyric Opera, the university’s educational opera program. He has directed productions of Dido and Aeneas, Serse, Orphée aux enfers, and Suor Angelica. In his current position as associate professor of voice at Colorado State University, he teaches lyric diction, opera history and literature, and has directed Serse and Die Zauberflöte. He is joined by fellow Colorado State professor, Joel Bacon.

He is a graduate of Michigan State University and Indiana University and was for several years a professional orchestral bassist before switching his emphasis to composition. He has taught in Texas, Indiana and Michigan and is Professor of Composition and Music Theory at the University of Louisville School of Music where, in addition to his teaching duties, he directs the Grawemeyer Award for Music Composition.
