Critically acclaimed German jazz performers Markus Burger and Jan von Klewitz blend modern improvisation with the art of interpreting faith based Baroque music while preserving its integrity. Staying very near to the original melodies and canti firmi, the artists improvise in a linear manner returning to one of the root principles of jazz. For the past four years Burger and von Klewitz have been traveling the US and Europe as musical Ambassadors of the Luther Decade. For these tours Burger has arranged most of Martin Luther’s hymns into his signature sounding arrangements for saxophone and piano. Luther has written captivating melodies that withstood the test of time and have inspired the worlds greatest composer Johann Sebastian Bach to arrange them in some of the most beautiful four voice chorales known to mankind.

Tubis Trio is a Poland-based trio featuring Maciej Tubis (piano), Pawe Puszczao (double bass) and Przemysaw Pacan (drums). After the release of an album recorded live in 2009, Live in Luxembourg, Tubis Trio is back with a beautiful album. The Truth is their debut on Challenge Records as well as their first studio album. The record brings us easy listening jazz music which may appeal to a broad audience. The Truth features ten gems all written by the gifted pianist and band leader Maciej Tubis. The band writes of this release: “This is our story, our emotions. There is no reasoned reckoning, hence the spontaneous reactions of the audience during our concerts. We want to share our joy of music-making with others. Jazz or not, it doesn’t matter. What matters is the Truth.”

This album is the second part of a musical trilogy, following 2008's Birth (Dodicilune Records). The music is extremely evocative due to the charm of lyrical melodies and the slow, yet relentless, pace. Not too complicated, despite constantly changing musical constructions, it features five very talented musicians from the contemporary European Jazz scene.

One of the most-recognized piano players in Germany, Daniel Prandl is part of various projects, from mainstream to contemporary jazz. With his quartet, he implements his own vision, combining his affinity for jazz and literature.

Raised in California, Isaac Darche studied with jazz legends Kenny Burrell and Billy Higgins at UCLA. He has received numerous distinctions, including a Gluck Fellowship for the Performing Arts and Kennedy Center's Jazz Ahead program. His new CD Team & Variations contains five original songs, with memorable melodies that make use of uncommon rhythmic and harmonic phrases.
