Saxophonist Yuri Honing is back after his successful album Desire, again with a jazz album that breathes peace, serenity, tension and mysticism. Goldbrun - a not existing word - is the Yuri Honing's European answer to A Love Supreme (1965) by John Coltrane. Like A Love Supreme this album aims to bond, to honor and to praise. Dutch musician Yuri Honing had his first major success in 1996 with his album Star Tracks, which comprised recordings of pop songs as an alternative to the American Songbook. The album became a hit in the Netherlands and Germany as well as the UK, and cemented his place among top the top European jazz contenders. This is Yuri’s 18th album. He resides in Amsterdam, and in addition to performing organizes the Winterreise music evening in Paradiso, Amsterdam.

In times like these you need groups. Bands. Bringing people together within a creative process. Calling on this plain fact Stuttgart native Martin Soros promptly brought together four of the most sought-after and prolific musicians of the young German jazz scene and founded his R and B infused jazz ensemble Dr. Syros. Take Munich-based trumpeter Julian Hesse for example who during the past years has established himself as an inventive and technically superb instrumentalist and composer, or Daniel Mudrack, who is not only a sublime drummer, but also responsible for innovative sound concepts as can be heard on the debut album. Grounded by gig-hardened bassist and jazz laureate Sebastian Schuster the band is indeed moving forward, leaving behind stereotypes and not giving a dime about styles and definitions. Whether one wants to call it jazz or hip hop is up to the critics- fact is that four intriguing musicians come together celebrating the musical moment. So, lean back and listen or get on your feet and dance. Both are possible with this debut album from Dr. Syros.

Changing Shapes is Lorenzo Vitolo's debut recording project whose songs were written during different moments of his musical and artistic growth. The thread that links these compositions is the continuous change of shapes and notes, of spaces and times, of thoughts and feelings. The project was realized in a trio line-up of musicians with whom Lorenzo had already collaborated for different concerts in their home town of Groningen in the Netherlands. This trio has found a great unity, despite the geographical distances and the different musical backgrounds of each musician. Lorenzo Vitolo has a background of classical music and jazz studies, re-emerging in his compositions and performances. He is continuously inspired by the study of and listening to those who created before him, and he appropriately mixes his knowledge with the one offered by the infinite horizon of this beautiful music that is jazz. Rafael Abdalla, the double bass player, comes from San Paolo. He has three albums and a large number of participations in music and record projects by other musicians. He contributes to the project with his deep understanding of the wonderful Brazilian music that he mixes wisely with modern jazz sounds. George Potamianos, the drummer, is from Patras, Greece. After his studies in Greece he moved to Holland to perfect his jazz studies. He is involved in various projects, and he always supports music with his great energy, with which he creates a powerful empathy with the other musicians and listeners.

Parc X trio is a Montreal-based contemporary jazz trio featuring Gabriel Vinuela, Alex Lefaivre and Alain Bourgeois. To celebrate its 10 year anniversary, Parc X trio is releasing its 7th recording, Dream. Pursuing the electric trio format, the group's latest musical explorations showcase their typical original blend of contemporary jazz harmonies, staggering dynamics, break-beat grooves over odd time signatures and classical music structures. As complex as the music might seem on paper, the trio navigates through the material effortlessly with grace and power. New to the table is the group's foray into studio production. A subtle and tasteful approach to electronic music production spices up the album sonically over the 9 original compositions from all 3 members. One of the album's highlights is a reworking of Tchaikovsky's theme from Swan Lake where Parc X trio's sonic, imprint takes the original classic into the 21st century.

This album is a live recording of a very precious musical moment for me. What you hear is exactly as it happened at that special concert. Everything felt right, the great WDR Big Band conducted by Torsten Maass with it's fantastic soloists, the gorgeous arrangements, the special guest soloists I could bring from the Netherlands: Peter Tiehuis, Cor Bakker and Theo de Jong, not to mention the enthusiastic audience of the club. A Dutch 'Friendly Takeover' in Cologne! (Fay Claassen) In November 2015 Fay was asked by the management of the WDR Big Band to put together a programme with music from the Netherlands. Fay got carte blanche to choose all the music and have it arranged for her and the WDR Big Band. Although she had never sung in Dutch before, she loved the idea! Fay was very happy that she could ask some of her favorite arrangers from the Netherlands, such as Rob Horsting, Ilja Reijngoud, Joan Reinders and Henk Meutgeert, to arrange the songs, but also Torsten Maass and legendary arranger Michael Abene made their fantastic contributions. This project was recorded live at the "Jazz-Schmiede, " Dusseldorf on November 28, 2015.

Friedrich Nietzsche knew that a child is hidden in each of us- a child who wants to play. Childlike pleasure in playing rarely manifests itself in adults as genuinely as it does when they play music. In particular, improvisation is nothing more than playing with all available components of a given contexts. Optimally tested- live in front of children young and old- Karl Seglem and Christoph Stiefel Group presents this double album with two separate parts, each of which belong together in content and aesthetics, but stand for different angles of the musical process. The first part is entitled Hopp (and smile!). Although it is based on how children experience music, it is explicitly aimed at the experienced listener, one who knows how to consciously focus his or her spontaneous perceptions. The second part is titled Monsterjazz- An Interactive Jazz Journey for All Ages. It contains the Monsterjazz program for children. The playful program makes the listener feel like they're digging in a huge wooden box of colorful marbles. What could be hidden under the visible?
