The ambition for Globe Music is to bring together some of the world’s finest musicians in special, unexpected collaborations, to bottle a unique environment where music and the theatrical meet. The label's first release, Songs From Our Ancestors, features two of today’s most imaginative artists; tenor Ian Bostridge and guitarist Xuefei Yang. Their eclectic journey traces a poetic path through history and place that is both global and personal; from Shakespeare’s contemporary John Dowland, through Schubert, Britten and Chinese folk music, to contemporary composers.

The virtuoso ensemble Philadelphia Brass join organist Joan Lippincott at the large 135-rank Mander organ of Princeton University Chapel in this grandly conceived recording, animated by the Chapel's large acoustical space. The recording presents three original works for organ and brass: Lockwood's Concerto for Organ and Brasses, Dupre's Poeme Heroique and Widor's Salvum fac populuum tuum, plus six additional works arranged for organ and brass. For most of the 1990's Organ Prof. Emerita Ms. Lippincott was Principal University Organist at Princeton University.

Dedicated entirely to the baroque bassoon, The Elegant Bassoon features a rich variety of repertoire dating from the earliest days of the instrument’s existence, until the period in which the classical bassoon took over. Bassoonist Wouter Verschuren, who is currently principal bassoonist of the Amesterdam Baroque Orchestra, and Concerto Delaborde here present the instrument in exciting unusual ensembles, like bassoon and traverse or viola da gamba. The reason that these combinations of instruments were not used often in the past, lies in the fact that traverse and viola da gamba favor keys with sharps, such as D major, whereas the bassoon favors keys with flats, like F major. This album includes six world premiere recordings.

Gloriae Dei Cantores releases All-Night Vigil, Op. 37 by Sergei Rachmaninoff, conducted by Peter Jermihov (internationally recognized specialist in Russian and Orthodox Liturgical music). Rachmaninoff’s All Night Vigil is made up of texts taken from the Russian Orthodox All-night vigil ceremony. Critics praised the work as Rachmaninoff’s finest achievement and “the greatest musical achievement of the Russian Orthodox Church.” It was also one of the composer’s favorite compositions, and the fifth movement was sung at his funeral. Gloriae Dei Cantores is joined by members of the St. Romanos Cappella, The Patriarch Tikhon Choir, and The Washington Master Chorale. Protodeacon under the First Hierarch of the Russian Orthodox Church, Vadim Gan, sings the clergy exclamations as well as Dmitry Ivanchenko. Soloists, Dmitry Ivanchenko and Mariya Berezovska, from the National Opera of Ukraine in Kiev, join the choir of 77 singers for this landmark collaboration and recording.
