The members of the original Joshua Redman Quartet-Redman (saxophone), Brad Mehldau (piano), Christian McBride (bass), and Brian Blade (drums)-reunite with the release of RoundAgain, the group's first recording since 1994's MoodSwing. The album features seven newly composed songs: three from Redman, two from Mehldau, and one each from McBride and Blade.

This 13-disc set brings together, for the first time, all the recordings that the French violinist Christian Ferras made for HMV and Telefunken including several first releases on CD. Amongst his musical partners featured in the set are Yehudi Menuhin, Paul Tortelier, Georges Pr�tre, Constantin Silvestri and others.

Despite having such a short recording career, the original guitar hero Charlie Christian single-handedly revolutionised the electric guitar. With having no direct influence on his guitar playing, he used the horn and reed lines he heard from the likes of Lester Young as inspiration to develop his unique single line phrasing - and so was born the guitar solo. Christian tragically died at 25 of tuberculosis, just as he was jamming with cool cats Thelonious Monk and Charlie Parker on the East coast, developing the future sound of be-bop. Our collection features some of the best material he recorded with the legendary Benny Goodman small bands. Playing alongside such luminaries of the jazz world as Goodman himself, Count Basie, Fletcher Henderson, Papa Jo Jones, Lester Young and Lionel Hampton, Christian shone above them all with his utterly unique and pioneering playing.

As the title of Christian Artmann's new CD The Middle of Life suggests, he's no ing�nue. The German-born flutist, now based in the San Francisco Bay Area after living for more than 15 years in New York, is a seasoned composer with a small but acclaimed discography that's contributed significantly to keeping the flute in the foreground of the contemporary jazz scene. As for many of us, the experience of the pandemic inspired deep reflection, and with his fourth album (and third for Sunnyside) Artmann takes stock of what matters most. Part of what makes The Middle of Life a strikingly cohesive project is Artmann's choice of ensemble. The album features Hungarian-born pianist Laszlo Gardony (also on Artmann's previous release Our Story), as well as Gardony's longtime collaborators, bassist John Lockwood and drummer Yoron Israel.

2018 release. Christian Artmann, a New York-based flute player and composer, is passionate about bridging musical boundaries and showcasing the flute in contemporary music. His musical associations include pianists/composers Laszlo Gardony, Yago Vazquez, Gregg Kallor, Rubens Salles and Philippine Duchateau, bassists Johannes Weidenmueller and Chris van Voorst van Beest, drummer Jeff Hirshfield, percussionists Laura Inserra and Luiz Claudio, mezzo soprano Elena McEntire, the Princeton Pro Musica and the Aspen Festival Orchestra. He has performed at the Konzerthaus in Vienna, the Django Reinhardt Jazz Festival near Paris, the Smetana Hall in Prague as well as clubs in New York, Boston, Paris and Vienna.
