The album with the recording of César Franck's Six Pièces is a continuation of the phonographic project, initiated in 2022 on the occasion of the composer's 200th birthday. Its main idea was to record Franck's greatest works on a historical instrument of reference, in order to find a sound-world that is as close as possible to the composer's intentions. Aristide Cavaillé-Coll's organ of the church of Saint-François-de-Sales in Lyon, despite its condition requiring urgent renovation, is one of the few works of the master saved from 20th-century modifications, and is a living witness of the era in which Franck was composing. Its authentic sound inspires a constant search for a true interpretation, and presents an opportunity to undertake a fresh look at this rich musical content.

Agnieszka Tarnawska was born in Lubin in 1986. A graduate of the Ignacy Jan Paderewski Academy of Music in Poznan (organ with Prof. Slawomir Kaminski and the harpsichord with Prof. Maria Banaszkiewicz-Bryla), doctor of musical arts, lecturer at the Poznan Academy of Music. In 2013, she graduated from Master of Music studies in Lübeck in the organ class of Arvid Gast, then in 2016 solo studies (Konzertexamen) with Wolfgang Zerer in Hamburg. Prizewinner of numerous organ competitions: 4th International Feliks Nowowiejski Organ Competition in Poznan, the 18th International L. Janácek Organ Competition in Brno, the 8th International Organ Competition in Korschenbroich. In May 2017, she won the 1st prize at the 15th César Franck International Organ Competition in Haarlem. She is a two-time scholarship holder of the Polish Ministry of Culture and National Heritage, as well as the German Academic Exchange Service (DAAD).
