In 2011, Swedish award-winning saxophonist Johannes Thorell released his highly praised debut CD 'The Forbidden Saxophone' (dBCD138) on dB Productions. That album contained music of composers whose music for various reasons was banned during Germany's Nazi era, but this time, Thorell presents something quite different: five Swedish contemporary composers, who now extend the saxophone repertoire in an exciting and revolutionary way.

Swedish composer Gunnar de Frumerie is considered one of the 20th century’s most important composers. Frumerie’s style is likened to that of Rachmaninoff, Shostakovich, Prokofieff, and Scriabine. These works have not been frequently recorded due to their difficulty. Performing these piano works is Swedish pianist Mats Widlund.

Västerås Sinfonietta and dB Productions present an album portrait of American composer Molly Kien. Västerås Sinfonietta is one of the oldest orchestras in the world, dating back to 1883. The Sinfonietta is domiciled in Västerås Concert Hall. In addition to concerts in their own concert hall, they perform all around the Mälardalen region. Molly Kien is an American living in Stockholm, Sweden. She is very interested in American folk music, she also sings and plays clawhammer banjo, mountain dulcimer and the ukelele. Canadian harpist Laura Stephenson is soloist in "Song of Britomartis", and renowned Finnish conductors Anna-Maria Helsing and Eva Ollikainen lead the sinfonietta through Kien's attractive music.

dB Productions is proud to present Lipparella's debut album. Lipparella was founded in 2008 - the members already being well-established musicians beforehand. Since the start, the group has specialized in contemporary works for baroque instruments and countertenor. This unusual profile has been determined by the creation of new works directly for the ensemble, which has been made possible through collaborations with a number of composers. Kent Olofsson's "Champs d'étoiles" is an hour-long musicals uite for counter-tenor recorder, baroque violin, viola da gamba and theorbo. "Based on a series of intense and religiously colored texts by Rimbaud, Rilke, and Hammarskjold and three anonymous reflections, which describes ecstatic revelations, Kent Olofsson created a suite of 17 statements that describe a musical and spiritual pilgrimage. Texts fascination with the heavens and life in general becomes a picture of our inner world of wealth and opportunities. By Olofsson's evocative and idiomatic use of older instruments, accompanied the song and the lyrics ofa varied chamber music game that constantly drives the music forward."
