The title "Zan Tontemiquico" is drawn from a poem by Tochihuitzin, a prince and poet who lived at the turn of the 14th and 15th centuries. The poem was written in N�huatl, which was spoken in the present Mexico before the arrival of Spaniards. In a free translation the title means "We only come to dream." This, closing the album, programme piece for orchestra, superbly performed by the Aukso ensemble directed by Marek Mos, is preceded by two compositions dedicated to the musicians of the Silesian Trio. The Titanic Trio is inspired by a whole range of cultural associations, not only musical, present in the legend of the Titanic, including the poetry of Czeslaw Milosz. The deprived of the programme references Trio Concertante, recorded together with Aukso, is calligraphically economical, yet at the same time emotionally rich music - consisting of strongly separated sound plans. The works present the main characteristics of the pieces by Mikolaj G�recki: musical erudition, allusiveness, atmosphere, and stylistic diversity.

Bronislawa Kawalla, the first prize winner at the International Bach Competition in Washington, comes from a well-known musical family. She graduated from the Secondary Music School in Krakow in the class of Maria Bilinska-Riegerowa and studied at the Higher State School of Music in Warsaw (currently the Fryderyk Chopin University of Music) in the class of Professor Jan Ekier. She polished her skills in Paris with Nadia Boulanger and Monique Haas, as well as at the Academie Internationale de Maurice Ravel with Philippe Entremont. She has recorded for Polish Radio and Television recordings, and has performed in renowned concert halls all over Europe, Canada, the USA, Latin America, and Asia. Kawalla is also devoted to pedagogical work, being a professor at the Fryderyk Chopin University of Music in Warsaw. Appropriately, for this release she has chosen a programme of music by Chopin.

Krzysztof Meyer’s Trio for Clarinet, Cello and Piano was composed as commission for the Sommerliche Musiktage festival in Hitzacker and was premiered on July 31, 1999. The trio can be easily associated with Brahms’ music. Meyer believes that musical narration makes sense and his music always strives for something or generates an expectation.

This new release is another publication presenting the artistic output of Krzysztof Meyer, one of the most outstanding Polish contemporary composers. The three original songs on this album are instrumental music, in which various narratives are composed of different narratives and dramaturgies; from full musical erudition Hommage à Johannes Brahms , through virtuoso Concerto No. 2 for flute and orchestra to reflective Farewell Music , devoted to Witold Lutosławski. The orchestra's culminating piece is Mass for mixed choir, organ and orchestra - as much musical expression, full of intelligent references to the history of perhaps the most demanding genre in the history of European composition art.

Dear children, today we would like to tell you about Frederic Chopin. This phenomenal composer and pianist is still known around the world , even today. He was born about 200 years ago in a small mansion house in Zelazowa Wola, not very far from Warsaw. Count Skarbek owned the house, where Frederic's Dad, Nicolas Chopin lived. Frederic's Dad was a tutor, which means he taught children from rich families at their home. Frederic's Mum was a very warm-hearted and caring person. She kept a warm and welcoming home where everyone felt comfortable. Little Frederic was very gifted at the piano. He began lessons at six years old and soo after started composing. Frederic grew into a world-renown composer and on this album you can hear his most important works.

One of the most interesting concerts of the 11th Festival of Oratory Music MUSICA SACROMONTAN in 2016 was devoted to Laudi Spirituali , the spiritual hymn of St. Founded during the work of the Association of Music Fans of the Church of St. Mary in Vallicella in Rome. These renaissance musical beauties bring together the figure and spirituality of the founder of the Congregation of the Pharaohs, a fascinating testimony to the musical culture of their time. Lauds belong to the oldest repertoire of songs in Italian language - the creator of the genre is considered Saint. Francis of Assisi. During the three centuries that have passed since the time of St. Francis to the late Renaissance, the genre has evolved and transformed a bit - it was Philip Neri's favorite music, and often composed for him by highly-educated composers - still lauds remained cheerful, relatively straightforward in the form of songs, of a sacred character, close to the folklore of the city. It is characterized by simplicity, which seems to fit into the place of prayer and my intention, which was exclusively arousing piety, wrote one of the most famous creators of the genre, Giovanni Animuccia.

MUSICAL TREASURES FROM LANCUT

Verbum Nobile is a one-act comic opera by Moniuszko, who developed a thriving national opera movement in the 19th century Polish music. This opera, like Moniuszko's other major operatic compositions, depict the charming and unpretentious picture of old-Polish customs.

This unique album features two fine pianists, John Tilbury and Zygmunt Krauze, exploring the works of interesting composers Cornelius Cardew, Terry Riley, Tomasz Sikorski, and Christian Wolff. Especially notable is the inclusion of Krauze’s own composition, One Piano Eight Hands. For this piece the duo is joined by Szabolcs Esztenyi and Hubert Zemler. British pianist John Tilbury is known as one of the world’s finest experimental pianists. Since 1980 he has been a part of the free improvisation group AMM. Zygmunt Krauzeis most known for his compositions, which favor the piano above all other instruments as Krauze is also a performing pianist. In 2012 Krauze was given the title of Coryphaeus of Polish Music in the category of Personality of the Year.

Dariusz Przybylski is an well-rounded composer. Piano, organ, chamber, orchestral, choral and opera music - the composer copes well with all of these genres, shows a profoundly controlled technique, always has a lot to tell and above all, has an original personality and a conscious sense of aesthetics. The orchestral pieces from this latest release were composed between 2010 and 2015.

One of the most important missions of the work of the 441 Hz Chamber Choir is performing and promoting contemporary choral music. On a daily basis, the ensemble, under the direction of Anna Wilczewska, carries out a busy concert schedule, performing mainly contemporary music repertoire. This album is a presentation of contemporary choral music originating from countries of the North, mainly from Scandinavia. The album is filled with the diversity of creative inspiration, free references to the folklore, customs and savage northern nature, and originality of the compositional techniques. All this contributes to a broad musical panorama constructed from the works of eleven composers, which, despite this fact, constitutes a coherent, homogeneous whole, which is brilliantly performed by the ensemble.

The one-act opera Djamileh by Georges Bizet set to the libretto by Louis Gallet tells an oriental love story between the slave named Djamileh and Cairo sultan Haroun. The plot, bringing to mind the atmosphere of One Thousand and One Nights, is a quite typical example of Romantic fascinations with the Far East. Bizet's had his doubts about the work- many considered it to be too difficult for a stage adaptation. However, the artistic craft of the creator of the balanced libretto surrounding the story of oriental lovers with a suggestive sound, and the craftsmanship of Jennifer Feinstein, performing the title, allows the listener to enjoy all the values ​​of this little known opera. Mezzo-soprano Jennifer Feinstein has been likened by the Los Angeles Times to "a young Horne, so rich is her mezzo and so full of spark was she on stage." She is becoming increasingly coveted for her portrayals of the dramatic mezzo repertoire.

CHAMBER WORKS

Chopin's Ballades are not a closed cycle; they were created in different times and circumstances. Moreover, no recommendations of the composer indicating their joint performance have been found. However, listening to them one after another is an extraordinary experience - the history of the artist's life, told with his most intimate musical language, reflecting the entire wealth and experience of his short, yet uncommonly fruitful life. None of Chopin's compositions exceed his ballads, neither in the mastery of the form nor in the beauty of the poetry. Karol Szymanowski, considered as the most outstanding Polish composer after Chopin, opened a new period of his works with Metopes and slightly later Masques, irrevocably departing from the neo-romantic stylistics to his own unique musical language, immersed both in universal European cultural roots and in Polish musical idioms. This release by Justyna Gabzdyl, a Polish pianist living in Canada, consists of a very subjective, yet remarkably accurate, synthetic selection of what is most interesting in Polish piano music, and perhaps the most characteristic.

Vespers - a cycle of religious services celebrated by the followers of the Orthodox Church on the eve of all feasts and each Little Pascha - i.e. Sunday. Vechernya, povecherye and utrenya are celebrated from evening to dawn. Among numerous composers who have developed the text of Vespers, it is Sergey Rachmaninoff that stands out due to his mastery of form. Carefully selected sounds of discreetly modern harmony render the acoustics of an Eastern Orthodox temple. Changes of cast (from three to eleven voices) and polychorality depict a sui generis theatrical nature of Orthodox Church ceremonies whose action evolves on a few levels, in different space points of the temple. It is particularly the sonorous, crystalline registers of female voices that contrast and perfectly combine with the male voices, among which the basso profondo basses, rarely found in the Western culture, have a profound meaning. The Podlasie Opera and Philharmonic Choir, also due to their artistic levels, guarantee the highest performance level of this kind of music in Poland.
