The Italian soprano Amarilli Nizza was born in Milan and grew up in a family dedicated to singing for the past four generations. + In 1993 she won the "Mattia Battistini" competition and debuted as Cio-Cio-San in Puccini's "Madama Butterfly" at Rieti's Flavio Vespasiano theatre. + From the beginning she was a lyric soprano, but with time, thanks to very solid technique and wise repertoire choices she has also developed dramatic accents and nuances. + Her impressive technique, coupled with fine acting skills, has granted her access to the most important venues and International Festivals.

Bach: Two-Part Inventions & Sinfonias and Other Keyboard Wor

This release features Vol. 3 of Tartini's works for violin and harpsichord, adding another significant piece to Dynamic's releases by the baroque composer. The works are performed here by the duo Crtomir �i�kovic (violin) and Luca Ferrini (harpsichord), who were also featured also in Dynamic's Vol.1 and Vol. 2. Both musicians are highly praised specialists for this kind of repertoire. Born in Trieste, Crtomir �i�kovic studied at "Glasbena Matica" and graduated from the G. Tartini" Conservatory of Trieste. He enjoys performing in various chamber groups as well as performing as a soloist with prestigious orchestras. Luca Ferrini studied at the conservatories Tartini in Trieste, and Tomadini in Udine, obtaining full marks for both piano and harpsichord. He is a renowned concert pianist, performing all over Europe as a soloist and member of chamber ensembles.

CASTELNUOVO-TEDESCO: Piano Works

Based on a play by Carlo Goldoni, Rossini’s La Gazzetta revolves around a man who strangely tries to find a husband for his daughter by placing an ad in the newspaper. The Opera Royal de Wallonie closed its 2014 season with this opera buffa. This production was directed by Stefano Mazzonis di Pralafera, and includes for the first time a Rossini quintet, which was discovered in 2012 and has been given its rightful place in Act One. Subtitles are available for this production in Italian, English, French, Germany, Japan, and Korea.

Two very rare operas in one act. Pigmalione was Gaetano Donizetti's first opera, written to a libretto by Simeone Antonio Sografi in just two weeks at the age of nineteen. The "lyrical scene" Pigmalione, as Donizetti himself defined it, is the composer's only approach to a mythological subject and tells the story of a sculptor whose statue becomes alive. The main role is sung by Antonino Siragusa, who gives a masterful interpretation, especially in the long and significant recitatives, and displays a polished and colourful voice. Excellent also is the Japanese soprano Aya Wakizono, Galatea, whose enticing voice well suits the requirements of her short part. Che originali! Is a little-known farce in a single act on a libretto by Gaetano Rossi, and was, from the very beginning, one of Giovanni Simone Mayr's most successful operas. The opera tells the story of a music fanatic, Don Febeo: in his house everybody must know and love music. Emanuele Sinisi's beautiful sets are almost surreal but well suited to Febeo's bizarre affair. The direction is humorous, often verging on the grotesque, in line with the style of the farce but always elegant and well-structured from a dramaturgical point of view. The protagonist, Febeo, is entrusted to Bruno de Simone, an excellent actor endowed with a clear and precise voice, and a master in the fast spelled-out passages.

Recorded at Tokyo Bunkamura Orchard Hall, 15th June 1996. This 1996 Tokyo recital is a celebration of the distinguished Spanish tenor Alfredo Kraus's 40 year career. After warming his voice with two classical arias transcribed by Parisotti, Kraus launches into an anthology of music from the French, Spanish and Italian repertoires. The recital includes a duet from the first act of Lucia di Lammermoor and the famous aria "Pourquoi me r�veiller?" from Massenet's Werther, an opera in which Kraus was considered an outstanding interpreter of the title role. Each and every piece is managed with extreme elegance, noble aplomb and ease, qualities that he attained through a formidable technique and a careful career pacing. At sixty nine Kraus sings without any apparent effort and with that aristocratic nonchalance that was one of the most charming aspects of his style. Viotti: Violin Concertos (Complete), Vol. 8

Featuring works from Paganini, Tartini, and Locatelli, this album is a journey through true violin virtuosity. Especially notable on this release is Paganini’s Sonata a preghiera M.S. 23. This is the first recording of the unabridged original version, and it is performed on Paganini’s own violin from 1742. One of Italy’s most renowned violinists, Luca Fanfoni interprets these works impeccably.

Saint-Saens’s music was never really loved during his lifetime, and, except for a few famous compositions like Carnival of the Animals, many of his works are seldom performed, even in his home country of France. Following a parabola common to many human beings, Saint-Saens was a revolutionary in his youth, and a conservatory in his adulthood. French music is much indebted to him, perhaps more than musicians today are willing to admit. He was too talented a musician to compose carelessly, to indulge in easy-to-please melodies. He was also a formidable pianist, and wrote many pieces for his favorite instrument. Here, some of his rarer works are performed by Mario Patuzzi. Patuzzi has led a long and exciting career of performing as well as teaching. He holds a full professorship at the Como Giuseppe Verdi Conservatory in addition to his recording and performing duties.
