LAST DECADE

Vinyl LP pressing. Don Cherry, Dewey Redman, Charlie Haden and Ed Blackwell came together to celebrate the work of mentor Ornette Coleman, but the repertoire of their Old and New Dreams quartet soon blossomed into a project of much wider scope, addressing also the musical experiences the players had made individually in their travels around the worldRecorded in Oslo in August 1979 and produced by Manfred Eicher, this vinyl reissue includes new liner notes providing historical context and background information.

DANCE OF THE ELDERS

A Time To Remember is a continuation of the special synergy that inhabited Elina Duni's acclaimed Lost Ships and finds her regrouping with that album's quartet of guitarist Rob Luft, Matthieu Michel on flugelhorn and Fred Thomas on percussion and piano. The notion of 'time' pulls through the program like a theme, connecting music from different parts of the world - traditionals, popular songs and original compositions - in performances of deep lyricism but also fleet-footed folklore.

SILENT LISTENING

2022 release. On the album Opening, Tord Gustavsen reveals a fresh angle to his particularly unique trio investigations into Scandinavian folk hymns, gospel, chorale and jazz. With a new fellow-traveller on board, the trio discovers inspired new ways to interact with each other, using innovative approaches to sound and technique in the process. The group's conversations bring an enticing unfamiliarity to the language the Norwegian pianist has developed over almost two decades of collaboration with ECM.

On their 2022 album, The Next Door, Julia Hulsmann returns with the quartet from 2019's Not Far From Here and presents her unique pianistic voice in a varied program of almost exclusively original music, composed by Julia and her colleagues Uli Kempendorff, Marc Muellbauer, and Heinrich Kobberling. A deep respect for the jazz tradition permeates the session and, with the quartet's modern twist, sets the stage for highly expressive solos and profound interplay.

2023 release. The creative partnership of bassist Anders Jormin and singer/violinist/violist Lena Willemark was first given exposure on ECM in 2004. In 2015, they introduced a new project with koto player Karin Nakagawa on Trees of Light. Now, with the addition of drummer Jon F"lt (Anders's longtime comrade in the Bobo Stenson Trio) the group has expanded it's improvisational range. Many creative ideas are explored on Pasado en claro, emerging from it's juxtaposition of poetry and music.

TOUCH OF TIME

At The Deer Head Inn, released in 1992, was the first selection of material from pianist Keith Jarrett's spontaneous, and in retrospect historic, return to the Pennsylvanian venue of his early years. "The music has the dash and the unabashed lyricism of Keith Jarrett's best work," wrote Stereophile in 1994. All attributes applicable to this edition, featuring 8 previously unreleased performances, which dives deeply into the magic of this special live event. A one-night-only coming together of a Jarrett trio with Gary Peacock (bass) and Paul Motian (drums).

Double vinyl LP pressing. "Incomparable" is what the German weekly paper Die Zeit called this album on it's release in 2000, before going on to describe the music as follows: "A high, warm voice sings fragile songs, Annette Peacock accompanies herself on the grand piano, a string quartet models sound sculptures: the time measure from classical music, the feeling from jazz, openness from the lyrics, and a voice of dreams." An Acrobat's Heart is a ravishingly beautiful album by one of the most mysterious, elusive and beguiling figures on the fringes of jazz. It features the unique vocals and piano playing of singer-songwriter Annette Peacock, performing her own compositions with the acclaimed Cikada String Quartet. Available for the first time on vinyl, this ECM Luminessence Series is presented in tip-on gatefold jacket.

Alice Zawadzki, Fred Thomas & Misha Mullov-Abbado Za Gorami LP / Vocalist and violinist Alice Zawadzki, pianist Fred Thomas and bassist Misha Mullov-Abbado present a rare alchemy on their trio debut, fusing folk idioms from a multitude of sources with free-flowing interplay and fluid structures. Inhabiting their own stylistic realm, the trio encompasses folk song, chamber music, improvisation and acoustic jazz, and on Za G�rami they present the full span of their reach in a mesmerizing whole. The album was recorded at the Auditorio Stelio Molo in Lugano and produced by Manfred Eicher.

After the beautiful 'Naked Truth' in 2022, trumpeter Avishai Cohen comes back with his quartet, including Yonathan Avishai (piano), Barak Mori (bass) and Ziv Ravitz (drums), with a new suite, 'Ashes To Gold.'

Vinyl LP pressing. German-American pianist Benjamin Lackner makes his ECM debut with a star-studded quartet of Manu Katche on drums, trumpeter Mathias Eick and Jer"me Regard on bass. Mathias and Manu share a longstanding association with the label and their respectively unique instrumental signatures can be traced across this set of exclusively original material - eight pieces by Benjamin, one by Jer"me. Last Decade was recorded in Studios La Buissonne, Pernes-Les-Fontaines and produced by Manfred Eicher.

2022 release. Elastic Wave presents dummer Nilssen's powerful trio with fellow Norwegian Andre Roligheten on reeds and Swedish bassist Petter Eldh (recently heard with Kit Downes). The group's dynamic interaction, dancing sense of pulse and boldly etched themes - all three players contribute compositions - make Acoustic Unity one of the most engaging bands on the circuit today, able to address fiery anthems and poignant ballads with equal panache and conviction.
