In the Breath of Time is Kent Nagano’s third Beethoven project together with the world-famous Montreal symphony orchestra. The program consists of what are probably Beethoven’s two sunniest symphonies: the Sixth, with the appropriate nickname “Pastoral,” and the Eighth. The recording is rounded off by an orchestral version of the later “Grosse Fuge,” Op. 133.
