Albrecht Volz writes: "The dance-like, often cheerful gestures of baroque music and the overwhelmingly subtle architecture of the Bach Suites have always moved me deeply and so I searched for ways to include works of this age in my concert repertoire. In many cases this music proved to be nearly ideal for transcription. Should such a project not merely get stuck in novelties, however, the tonal range, melodic treatment, technical playability, relatedness of sound and much more must be critically scrutinized during the selection of suitable works." The special considerations which preceded the selection of each of the works are described in the program booklet. This CD contains a very unusual sound.
