Led by Emmanuel Hussenot, the French jazz ensemble Orph�on C�lesta has been expanding the vocabulary of the genre for nearly 30 years. On Cuisine au Jazz, the group offers their offbeat takes on standards of many genres, blending poetry, New Orleans-style brass, kazoo and washboard in seventeen tracks of impeccable arrangements.

The universe is close to the trio of Stephane Grappelli with Marc Fosset and Jean-Philippe Viret. Even if the game of Florence is more modern and more tense than the one of her master, her supple and sensible flow never forgets swing. The association of rythmic acoustic and solo electric is excellent, Marc Perez is still very musical and the mix of swing and jazz is extremely tasty.

An artist at heart - and in spirit - Do Montebello continues the work she began with Adamah in 2014, with this recording that confirms her immense talents as a jazz vocalist. She sings wonderfully in English, Portuguese and French, delivering poetic Brazilian savours filled with delicacy. Her voice has rare precision, and her composing and performance make her a singer of inestimable value in today's jazz. She's in magni-ficent company too, with the excellent Jaques Morelenbaum and Toninho Horta contributing to this opus, made with some of the best musicians in Brazil.

Through his spellbinding, fluid and complicit speech, Edgar Morin traces new ways of entering words. He is a smuggler of knowledge neither mutilated nor compartmentalized, able to grasp the complexity of the real, which preserves us illusory knowledge, by making us drop our blinders. Each situation becomes a resource: sensuality, friendship, risk, science, politics, poetry, coexisting, struggle and ends up harmoniously intertwined in the thinker's thinking about the world. In the 70s & 80s he caused dance floors to shake when he took all the colours of contemporary sounds - soul, funk, disco and hip hop - and added them to his own Afro Groove; and by the end of the 80s in Paris, Manu Dibango had become the godfatherguardian of Black music. Between 1989 and 1992 he recorded his "Negropolitaines" cycle (it duly appeared in two volumes) whose concept was a focus on material from the African continent played by the top musicians in the French capital. The result was a celebration both festive and intimate, a ceremony where Manu himself was the High Priest. Afro-beat, high life, mbaqanga, soukouss, rumba (even the French Caribbean's Afro-biguine rhythms) would fly out of Manu's generous saxophone. His second 'Negropolitanes' disc received the equivalent of a Grammy in France (the "Victoire de la Musique" Award in 1993), and 'Papa Manu' was suddenly "Pope of World Music," for both the general public and a whole new generation who promptly (re)discovered him. The labels Fr�meaux & Associ�s and Soul Makossa are proud to join forces in re-releasing these recordings conceived by Manu Dibango.

When one listens to the songs of George Brassens, explains Rodolphe, it's an obviousness that the Quintet of Hot Club of France could have played that. One did not pay attention too much during his living, because people were attracted by the texts, but it's musics are fabulous. They are in the head of people and, moreover, they sound jazz.
