How often have the three musicians of the Munich Piano Trio opened our ears with unique music! The new, the 9th GENUIN album of the renowned ensemble is also a voyage of discovery to works that one encounters very rarely in the concert hall. And since the composer is none other than Richard Strauss (1864–1949), the credit for the musicians is even greater! We become acquainted with two youthful works, namely a piano trio from 1878 and a piano quartet from 1884. The Munich Piano Trio plays the music, which is worth listening to and masterfully composed, with verve and at the highest standard – entirely worthwhile! Founded in 1982, the Munich Piano Trio is one of the most active and sought-after German chamber music ensembles. The musicians have undertaken lengthy concert tours throughout Europe, North America, Russia, Japan, China, and a few African countries. The Trio has become a welcome guest worldwide with its exceptional programming. Repertoire includes the masterpieces of the trio literature, as well as less frequently performed Romantic and modern works, including new compositions written especially for the ensemble.

Musicians Jürg Dahler (viola), Gilles Vonsattel (piano), and François Benda (clarinet) journey to the outer limits of what can be sung or heard in their new GENUIN Artist Consort release – for Benda already his seventh CD in the splendid series! The disc brings together truly Romantic music by Robert Schumann and Györgi Kurtag along with the world premiere recording of Hans Ulrich Lehmann’s “without words”, a commentary on Schumann’s Marchenbilder. The three artists bring out the composers’ subtle strokes with incredible tenderness and boundless energy as we are alternately touched, inspired, and captivated – a window onto the world of fairy tales just the way E.T.A. Hoffmann could have imagined . . .

The subject here is not how many reeds grow next to the Danube. Nor is it important whether or not the fabulous bassoonist Rie Koyama dampened her reed in Danube water for her second GENUIN CD after her much-acclaimed Primavera debut. The fact that the prizewinner of the German Music Competition and the ARD Competition speaks the musical languages - perfectly - of the former K. and K. states along the blue river is documented by her interpretations of Beethoven, Mozart and Doppler, amongst others. Austrian charm meets Hungarian verve. Who wouldn't want to travel with her?

The young Hungarian violinist has brought together exclusively world premiere recordings of solo violin works dedicated to her, and the spectrum could not be broader: from the icy landscapes of Filip Sanders to the breathless intensity of Juan Manuel Abras, distant whirring of Federico Placidi, and explosive borderline experiences of Bence Hartl...captivating from the first to the final note!

A young artist duo who, with all their youthful exuberance and verve, still succeed in conveying a sense of consummate mastery and calm: when we hear the GENUIN debut release of So Jin Kim (violin) and David Fung (piano), we’re guaranteed to sit up and take notice. Two of the truly great works of the violin and piano literature and a world premiere recording: a choice that bespeaks a certain self-confidence, which is confirmed by every note of this thrilling recording. With Richard Strauss’s early violin sonata, Schubert’s Grand Duo in A major, and a brilliant work by Israeli composer Avner Dorman, we can simply sit back and enjoy as the sparks fly from the loudspeakers!

The horns are let loose! In their fifth GENUIN release, the german hornsound brass ensemble has brought together their favorite works and those of their fan community. And we’d be hard-pressed to find a single work in the Western musical literature that doesn’t sound at least as beautiful arranged for four horns as it does in the original. What’s more, there’s no need for troublesome singers, meddlesome conductors, and big stages for massive orchestras! In these splendid renditions, Handel’s "Rinaldo", Dvorák’s Ninth Symphony, and Mendelssohn’s "Midsummer Night’s Dream" are both glorious and groovy, exquisite and ethereal, sophisticated and sexy.

With his Genuin debut album, the Romanian pianist Mihai Ritivoiu takes us into other spheres: "Transcendence" is the name of the production that unites works by Franck, Enescu, and Liszt. The prizewinner of numerous competitions (including the Dinu Lipatti and George Enescu competitions) avoids thunderous pounding and superficial tinkling on the keys. From the first notes of Franck's Prelude to the mystical floating away at the end of Liszt's great sonata, the young musician draws us into his musical spell with a differentiated attack and staying power. Particularly noteworthy: George Enescu's expressive, first piano sonata - a real repertoire highlight! Ritivoiu writes of the album: "In choosing the repertoire for my first recording, I found myself drawn to three works which, albeit different, all transcend the boundaries of merely pianistic music, whether it is the quasi-organ sounds and bell chimes of Cesar Franck's Prelude Choral et Fugue or the orchestral sonorities of the Liszt and Enescu sonatas."

With it's latest GENUIN production, Camerata Musica Limburg, one of the best male choirs of our time, demonstrates it's enormous versatility: choruses and solo lieder by Christian Ridil are on the program. The stylistic range of this outstanding musician and music educator is wide: from student choirs inspired by Romanticism to humorous settings for celebrations and Heine's gloomy Belsatzar. The baritone Nikolaus Fluck, originally a member of the choir, sings moving psalm settings and love songs. Under the direction of Jan Schumacher the Camerata demonstrates it's best side: spotlessly clean and sonorous - no question why this choir is a welcome guest at festivals worldwide!

Who says young people don't still present innovative programs? The virtuosic winner of the Leipzig Bach Competition 2012, Johannes Lang, even manages to integrate a Bach homage into his GENUIN debut CD that was created before Bach's birth - is such a thing possible? Yes - listen to the disc and study the text written by the soloist! Pieces by Bach himself and others based on the B-A-C-H tone sequence are put together here in a compilation that will transport the organ-music lover from 1600 to 2014. It's a journey that even contains a world premiere recording: Jan Esra Kuhl's "Variations on B-A-C-H".

After the release of their first CD "White", which received an ECHO Klassik award, the Amaryllis Quartett continues it's successful CD series with "Blue". This time, alongside the shimmering magic of Claude Debussy and Maurice Ravel, the young, internationally acclaimed and award-winning musicians perform the world premiere of a quartet by the Chinese composer Lin Yang, who has dedicated the work to them. It is impressive how the tonal concentration of contemporary music and the richness of impressionistic works unfold when juxtaposed. State of the art quartet playing at the highest level!
