Vocalist Murphy is joined by the Loonis McGlohon Trio: pianist/arranger McGlohon, bassist Terry Lassiter & drummer Jim Lackey.

This CD contains music pianist Teddy Wilson recorded on June 4,1967 in Manchester while on tour in England. Here he's joined by bassist Peter Chapman and drummer Johnny Richardson. Song include "Undecided," "Satin Doll," "Medley: Sophisticated Lady/Take the a Train," "Honeysuckle Rose" and others.

(2 albums on one CD) George Barnes and Carl Kress often teamed up to play guitar duets from 1962-65, although they made relatively few recordings. "Guitars Anyone?" was their last meeting on record, and it finds the pair in high spirits on a dozen selections. The second part of this CD features Barnes' Second Quartet with Dick Hyman, Hank Jones, Milt Hinton, Jo Jones and others.

CD reissue. Francis Joseph Spanier was better known as "Muggsy,' established his own style that distinguished his playing from that of other cornet players. When he is leading a group, one can immediately recognize who is on the cornet. The notes for this CD set, along with the book Muggsy Spanier: The Lonesome Road (1995) by Bert Whyatt, give a fairly detailed analysis of his style. Suffice to say here he is a hot player, punching out his notes in flurries and driving the band. His tone is fat and firm and with just a slight vibrato at the end of each phrase.

The Pontchartrain Shakers, one of the New Orleans area's favorite live blues bands, are Amedee Frederick and Jojjo Wight, both lifelong musicians, friends, and now partners in and out of the band. Both have played professionally in southeast Louisiana since their teens. Working, playing music, and living on both sides of Lake Pontchartrain, the two formed the band in 2018 and named it for all their 'shaking' back and forth from shore to shore.

Recorded in Tokyo in October 1977, vocalist Carol Sloane is joined by pianist Roland Hanna, bassist George Mraz and drummer Richie Pratt. 12 tracks including Take The A Train, Mood Indigo, Sophisticated Lady, Come Sunday.

The Olympia Brass Band, formed in 1958 by alto saxophonist Harold Dejan soon became New Orleans top marching band. Many well-known New Orleans musicians were members of this brass band over it's long and successful career - Manuel Paul, Willie Humphrey, Milton Batiste, Kid Sheik, Paul Crawford, Wendel Eugene, Allen Jaffe, Tuba Fats, Andrew Jefferson, Henry Booker Glass etc... Grand marshals were Fats Houston & Slow Drag Pavageau. Olympia had, apart from their many local parade jobs, a regular gig at Preservation Hall on Sunday nights for many years. They toured Europe and Africa, played for Queen Elizabeth's 25th wedding anniversary in London and for Pope John Paul on his visit to New Orleans. Olympia Brass Band made many recordings over the years and this 1971 session for Audiophile Records is one of their best. Of special interest is Harold Dejan's "Explanation of a funeral procession" and the dirge medley of "Flee As A Bird - Nearer My God To Thee - Pleyel's Hymn" played from an old brass band arrangement. The rest of the LP consists of the then standard brass band tunes. These tunes are no longer played by New Orleans brass bands. Here is Olympia Brass Band in it's full glory.
