A world-premiere recording of string quintets by the long-forgotten composer Paul Caro, the final Wroclaw voice of the Neo-Romantic tradition. Known until now only through handwritten manuscripts, these newly rediscovered works impress with their clear formal design, lyrical melodic flow, and unmistakable echoes of the great masters-Bruckner, Reger, and Brahms. Performed by acclaimed chamber musicians from the Vienna and Kraków music scenes, these vibrant interpretations bring to light the remarkable expressive power and artistic promise of a composer finally receiving his due.

From March to May 2015, John Zorn composed 300 new tunes that were eventually collected into a book of music he called The Bagatelles. Volume 7 is a remarkable solo piano performance by Brian Marsella who has become a lynchpin of Zorn's crew of musical masters. Blending classical and jazz into an exhilarating and varied suite, Brian presents a group of thirteen Bagatelles as a beautiful set of theme and variations. This is piano virtuosity at it's finest-a profound exploration into the world of Zorn's Bagatelles.

The Canzonette by Paolo Rolli (1687-1765) were among the greatest lyrical successes of eighteenth-century Europe. The poet, renowned for his cantatas, his extraordinary Italian translation of Milton's Paradise Lost, and his opera libretti for Porpora and Handel, likely oversaw the musical settings of the Canzonette himself, often reworking compositions by Handel and popular tunes of the time, such as the dance Aimable Vainqueur. Simple yet delightful melodies accompany amorous skirmishes between nymphs and shepherds, while also celebrating wine and the pleasures of love. This collection offers a unique glimpse into the eighteenth-century Arcadian world through the original work of one of it's greatest poets.

In Monteverdi's Lament, the Erik Westberg Vocal Ensemble presents two contemporary works that reimagine poetry and music connected to the legacy of Claudio Monteverdi. Drawing on 17th-century sources, these compositions set historical and contemporary choir music in dialogue with interactive technologies and the hyperorgan-an instrument enhanced with digital control functions that allow performance beyond the traditional keyboard. The result is an exploration of the creative tension between past and present, echoing the spirit of innovation that shaped Monteverdi's music in the early 1600s. Carl Unander-Scharin's Lamento è più takes inspiration from Ottavio Rinuccini's libretto for the lost opera Arianna, originally set by Monteverdi in 1607. Created in collaboration with choreographer Åsa Unander-Scharin, this 2023 work expands the expressive potential of the 17th-century text through a dynamic interplay of choreography, choir, and hyperorgan.

The album features a sonata written especially for Arto Noras, one of today's greatest cellists, presented as a gift for his 80th birthday. The violin sonata is likewise dedicated to it's performer-an exceptional Korean violinist held in high esteem by Krzysztof Penderecki, Ryu's mentor and artistic patron. The Korean composer's music speaks in a highly personal voice, blending echoes of Romanticism and Impressionism. Together, these two works invite listeners to savor the sheer beauty of sound and the dazzling virtuosity that define the artistry of all four performers.

A vibrant collection of chamber works spanning different periods of Alberto Ginastera's career, written for piano with strings or voice. Rooted in the rhythms and colors of traditional Argentine music yet infused with the bold spirit of cosmopolitan modernism, these pieces strike a compelling balance between heritage and innovation. Inspired by the lifelong passion of acclaimed Kraków pianist Andrzej Pikul for Argentina's most celebrated composer, this album highlights the expressive range, technical brilliance, and imaginative power of Ginastera's music, offering each performer a chance to shine with virtuosity and creative flair.

Mort au Printemps is a compelling journey through some of the most powerful musical visions of death from the early twentieth century, explored through the intense and versatile language of the piano duo. In this album, the Anton & Maite Piano Duo bring together three works that are deeply connected by aesthetic affinities, personal links between their composers, and a shared creative response to the tragic. At the heart of the programme lies Igor Stravinsky's The Rite of Spring, presented in the composer's own four-hand piano transcription. Far from being a reduction, this version retains all the work's primal energy, revealing with striking clarity it's rhythmic drive, structural ingenuity, and ritualistic character rooted in archaic and ancestral imagery. Alongside it stands El Día y la Muerte by Fernando Remacha, a two-piano work that remained hidden for decades. Inspired by the tragic death of the composer's grandson, the piece unfolds in a sombre, deeply moving musical language situated between Impressionism and Expressionism, marked by tension, dark colours, and emotional intensity. The album is completed by Claude Debussy's en blanc et noir, one of the most distinctive works of his final period, permeated by the oppressive atmosphere of World War I despite the composer's reluctance to make explicit references. Mort au Printemps powerfully reclaims the expressive depth of the piano duo repertoire, offering a recording of exceptional intensity, precision, and artistic vision.

Son House proves his towering influence on the blues, pouring his raw voice, slide guitar, and candid storytelling into this visceral document of a legend still commanding the crowd and reaffirming the power of the Delta tradition. Recorded live at the Oberlin College, Ohio, 1965.

This album features songs to poetry by 20th- and 21st-century writers, composed by an artist whose vocal-instrumental works stand at the heart of his oeuvre. A stripped-down, almost minimalist sonic language shapes a meditative, introspective atmosphere-one that encourages philosophical reflection beyond the album's overarching theme of love. The two singers, commanding expansive operatic range and color, bring heightened drama and emotional intensity, carefully building tension and captivating the listener from the first note to the last.

Consonance: Live at the Jazz Showcase is the first ever release of saxophone titan Joe Henderson and his quartet featuring pianist Joanne Brackeen, bassist Steve Rodby and drummer Danny Spencer captured live at Joe Segal's Jazz Showcase in Chicago, IL in February of 1978. The 2-CD set was mastered from the original tapes by George Klabin and John Koenig.

One of three releases marking the 100th birthday of Randy Weston. It features previously unreleased live material. Randy Weston is known to the public thru the lens of the small ensemble of the African Rhythm group, recognition that is very well deserved and his signature around the world. Randy Weston is not only in direct lineage of Duke Ellington and Thelonious Monk, he was also the real integrator of African music into the Jazz World. Brooklyn, a cradle of jazz history and home to countless musical legends like Max Roach, Duke Jordan, and Cecil Payne, celebrated one of it's finest with a weeklong tribute at the Brooklyn Academy of Music (BAM). "African Sunrise"-also presented that year at the Kool Jazz Festival in Chicago with Machito's orchestra featuring Dizzy Gillespie, Johnny Griffin, Art Blakey, and Richard Davis (a recording of that event exists!)-appears here in an arrangement by Melba Liston, showcasing her genius once again.

Beloved songs by Stanislaw Moniuszko are presented here in a striking new sound world, inspired by the tradition of 19th-century home music-making, where the piano gives way to plucked instruments-lutes and guitars. This bold artistic vision is further enriched by masterful spoken interpretations of poetry by writers close to the composer, delivered by acclaimed actor Krzysztof Gosztyla. Two contrasting vocal voices-a light, luminous female timbre and a strong, resonant male voice-come together to tell a story in which wit and humor intertwine with moments of tender, nostalgic reflection.

Stardust & Starlight: Live at the Jazz Showcase is a previously unissued recording of the enigmatic piano icon Mal Waldron captured live at Joe Segal's Jazz Showcase in Chicago, IL in August of 1979 with bassist Steve Rodby (Pat Metheny Group), drummer Wilbur Campbell, and special guest saxophonist Sonny Stitt on 2 songs. The set was mastered from the original tapes.

Both revered selectors and producers, Marc and Sadar are integral parts of Chicago's underground music scene, sharing the city's spirit with the world. Through his own label, Black Pegasus, and the Chi Talo series, Marc has become an in-demand DJ known for his raw and eclectic sets. He joins forces with good friend, DJ's DJ and Soul In The Hole head Sadar Bahar, whose name regularly tops the bill at some of the finest clubs and festivals around the globe. Digging deep once again, the pair serve up two certified secret weapons from their renowned collections. Finding that sweet spot that drew out the most uplifting, powerful, and danceable elements of both gospel and disco, they shine a light on two beauties from Myrna Summers and The Yancy Family. Tweaked and re-edited with style and consideration, they re-work the tracks with DJs and dancers in mind. As Robert M. IBS Classical presents a distinguished new release featuring violinist Valerie Steenken and pianist Ricardo Alí Álvarez, performing three major violin sonatas by Richard Strauss, Ottorino Respighi, and Manuel M. Ponce. Conceived as a journey across German, Italian, and Mexican traditions, the programme bridges late-Romantic lyricism and early-twentieth-century modern expressivity. Strauss's youthful Sonata in E-flat major, Op. 18, combines soaring melodic invention with symphonic breadth, while Respighi's Sonata in B minor unfolds as a grand, rhetorically charged architecture culminating in a majestic Passacaglia. Ponce's Sonata breve, written in Paris in 1930, distills neoclassical elegance and Mexican lyricism into a concise yet refined statement of style. In this recording, Valerie Steenken (Concertmaster of Spanish National Orchestra) and Ricardo Alí Álvarez (Professor at Reina Sofía School) offer performances of exceptional unity and insight. Steenken's luminous tone, phrasing of great naturalness, and expressive precision find in Álvarez's pianism an ideal counterpart-sensitive, detailed, and dynamically sculpted. Their dialogue reveals a profound understanding of structure and sound, bringing each work's emotional core vividly to life. The incredible music on this album feeds into my lifelong fascination with musical connections, especially the complicated relationship between classical music and jazz.
