Vom Reden und Klingen showcases the artistry of Laurens de Man, the first organist to be awarded the prestigious Nederlandse Muziekprijs. The album is a highly original recital consisting entirely of program music (music that depicts a story). These organ pieces by Bach, Mozart, Kuhnau, and Kurtag are therefore rare specimens of program music outside the 19th century. Laurens de Man plays the newly reconstructed Contius organ at the St.-Michielskerk in Leuven, Belgium

When the Polish city of Poznan was still called Posen, a certain Franz Xaver Scharwenka attended the local high school before embarking on a musical career that garnered him significant attention and admiration. Although he primarily made a name for himself as a pianist and composer of countless piano pieces, he was compelled to venture beyond his instrument and did so with remarkable success. In 1877, he presented the first of his four piano concertos to the public in Hanover, a work that continues to delight audiences and has now been added to the cpo catalog. This imaginative piece, performed by the British pianist Jonathan Powell and the Poznan Philharmonic Orchestra under the baton of Lukasz Borowicz, serves as a prelude to the only symphony Scharwenka composed - a compelling testament to a man who mastered much more than just the 88 keys.

Pianist Anton Dromberg (Bear Garden, Erik Palmberg Quartet) and vocalist Anna Berglund (Anna Arco, Berglund Band) are no novices on the Swedish jazz scene. In 1994, only one year after suffering a stroke that rendered his left hand weakened, Peterson took the stage in Munich to prove to his collaborators, fans, and himself, that his earned title of "Maharaja of the keyboard" by Duke Ellington still rang true. By reinventing his playing style at 68 years old, he demonstrated his undiminished inventive prowess with an all-star band including Niels-Henning �rsted Pedersen (bass), Lorne Lofsky (guitar) and Martin Drew (drums).
