Three classics from Grimm's fairy tales musically retold by Berlin composer Mark Scheibe. Narrator Meike Droste and the recorder players of the Boreas Quartet Bremen bring the fairy tale characters to life in vivid language and new verses. The ensemble's entire range of instruments is used: from the tirilating sopranino to the donkey-like contrabass recorder.

Echoes showcases Lars Moller's masterful fusion of Scandinavian introspection, robust American jazz, and emotive Indian modalities. Joined by legendary trumpeter Palle Mikkelborg and the NDR Bigband, Moller crafts a sonic journey that reflects his artistic evolution and exploration of jazz and Indian music. Contrasting spacious, improvised passages with dense orchestrations, Echoes balances air and fire, creating a timeless soundscape that embraces both spiritual openness and rhythmic intensity.

Baritone Randall Scarlata has been praised by MusicWeb International for his "extraordinary vocal range and colour palette" and for his "masterful authority and secure technique" (Die Presse, Vienna). Gilbert Kalish's 30-year partnership with the mezzo-soprano Jan DeGaetani was widely recognized as one of the most remarkable artistic collaborations of recent years. Kalish maintains long standing duos with cellists Timothy Eddy, Joel Krosnick, and with soprano Dawn Upshaw.

As with many other Australian composers, the music of Linda Kouvaras (b. 1960) has a strong sense of wide-open spaces, expressed in lyrical, elegiac melodic lines that soar over freewheeling Lisztian piano textures and atmospheric echoes of French Impressionism. In this second album of a series presenting all of her instrumental works, chamber music and songs written since 1991

The CD spans an arc from Italy to Central Germany and includes concerti by Vivaldi and Johann Ernst von Sachsen-Weimar, which Bach arranged for organ. The arrangements are thus an encounter between different composers, who here converse with each other and exchange ideas. Johannes Krahl presents them on the historic Silbermann organ of the Katholische Hofkirche Dresden.

Of all the great composers of classical modernism, Bartok undoubtedly made the most significant contributions to violin chamber music. The Latvian-Armenian violinist Georg Sargsyan and the Australian pianist James Maddox present two major works from this repertoire. The piano sonata, the only contribution to the genre in the composer's otherwise extensive piano oeuvre, rounds off the program.

For many centuries, Georgia has been a country in which different ethnicities and religions have lived side by side: Armenians, Azerbaijanis, Kurds, Jews, Christians and Muslims. This multicultural environment has influenced Josef Bardanashvili's style in the direction of pluralism, eclecticism and tolerance towards musical cultures. This openness can also be felt in each of the works on this CD.

Pianist Anton Dromberg (Bear Garden, Erik Palmberg Quartet) and vocalist Anna Berglund (Anna Arco, Berglund Band) are no novices on the Swedish jazz scene. In 2021, they celebrated their tenth anniversary as a duo and released the debut EP Dream Maker, which was appointed "Vocal and Piano Album of the Year" by Lira Music Magazine. The duo's songs have aired on Swedish national radio, P2, and found their way onto several major Spotify- playlists such as "Svensk Jazz". The music has been described as heartfelt, melodic and with exceptional interplay whether it is original material or a new version of a Burt Bacharach ballad

Step right up! Step right in… to Little Big Top, the charming debut album from a new quartet led by accordion legend Guy Klucevsek (kloo-SEH-vik) with visionary trumpeter Volker Goetze. This fine compendium of engaging Klucevsek creations that were written over two decades is produced by Goetze, arranged by Klucevsek, and is filled with musical thrills and spills to surprise and delight.

Max Reger is best known for vast, abstract keyboard works in fugue and variation form. But alongside these masterful constructions his creativity also turned to more introspective album pages that reveal an entirely different side to his character. The influence of Schumann can be found in the first of his Improvisationen alongside echoes of Brahms and Chopin in the Six Morceaux. We also encounter rhapsodic miniatures from Aus meinem Tagebuch and the popular Maria-Wiegenlied, with the late collection Tr�ume am Kamin appearing as a self-confessional summary of Reger's career and style.

The sumptuous music of Giovanni Paolo Colonna is brought to life in this concert to honour Bologna's patron saint at the Chapel of St Petronio Basilica - the very place in which this great musician was organist and chapel master in the mid-17th century. The works in this programme are rarely heard due to their grandiose proportions and virtuoso demands in performance. They include the colossal Dixit Dominus for two choirs, trumpet fanfare and strings, as well as the dazzling Beatus vir, possibly the earliest ever example of a concerto grosso.
