Lorenzo Perosi (1872-1956) was the only member of the Giovane Scuola who did not write operas. Rather, Perosi opted for sacred music. When he was only in his twenties, Perosi was already a celebrated composer of sacred works, particularly his large scale oratorios. During his life he worked for five Popes, including St. Pius X who had a great hand in his success. These four discs have compiled Perosi’s most important masses, sacred pieces, and organ works, showcasing his talent. A total of eight masses are included, as well as several other offertorios, preludes, and other works.
