The Greek word 'kosmos' is our ethos in a nutshell. It means the world, the universe, people, order from chaos, honour and is also the name of a flower. Kosmos transcends boundaries, and connects people from all around the world. With our shared passion for music from across the globe -from Argentina to Japan-we create bridges between classical and non-classical music, and our music dances across them. All the music on this album is arranged and composed together by us for our signature combination of violin, viola and classical accordion. This recording is a one-off performance, just as each and every one of our concert performances is always novel and singular. Kosmos is a trio of award-winning, international musicians who have performed worldwide, with live broadcasts on national radio including BBC Radio and Classic FM. They regularly tour international festivals (including Poland, Italy, Spain, Greece, Scotland, Channel Islands). In 2018 acclaimed composer Errollyn Wallen wrote a Triple Concerto for Kosmos, which was premiered at the Jersey Royal Opera House and Chichester Cathedral. Their previous album released by Nimbus, Pomegranate, was highly acclaimed as 'a delight from start to finish' by Guy Rickards of Gramophone Magazine.

Family Connections celebrates the 250th anniversary of the Rothschild family, with songs by their friends, teachers and relatives. Charlotte de Rothschild's career has taken her all over the world. With her wide knowledge of the song repertoire, from different eras, countries and genres, she has created some wonderful themed programmes; the best-known being this "Family Connections" programme which traces the musical history of her forebears with music by, and anecdotes about, the composers who were friends, teachers or ancestors of the Rothschild family during the 19th and 20thCenturies. Charlotte has presented this programme in the U.S.A., Europe, Japan, India, Singapore, Taiwan, Australia and the U.K. It all began in the early '90swhen Charlotte discovered a fascinating musical autograph book started by her ancestor, a previous Charlotte de Rothschild. The contents have been the source of great interest to musicologists world-wide and Charlotte made this recording in 1993 when the family were celebrating their 250th anniversary. Recognized as one of the leading accompanists of his generation, he has worked with many of the world's greatest singers including Sir Thomas Allen, Dame Janet Baker, Olaf B�r, Anna Netrebko, Barbara Bonney, Dame Sarah Connolly, Angela Gheorghiu, Susan Graham, Thomas Hampson, Della Jones, Simon Keenlyside, Angelika Kirchschlager, Dame Felicity Lott, Christopher Maltman, Karita Mattila, Dame Ann Murray, Anna Netrebko, Anne Sofie von Otter, Joan Rodgers, Michael Schade, Frederica von Stade, Sarah Walker and Bryn Terfel. He was a given an honorary doctorate at the Royal Scottish Academy of Music and Drama in 2004, and appointed International Fellow of Accompaniment in 2009. Malcolm was the Artistic Director of the 2011 Leeds Lieder+ Festival. He was made an OBE in the 2016 New Year's Honors.

Composed in 1879, the Piano Quintet in F minor by C�sar Franck belongs to the fruitful final period of his creative life. It heralded the start of an impressive sequence of late orchestral and chamber pieces which set the seal upon his career. The Piano Quintet was premiered in Paris on 17 January 1880 by the Marsick Quartet with Saint-Sa�ns at the piano. During the last quarter of the 19th century and into the 1920s, it was Gabriel Faur� who made the most substantial and lasting contribution to French chamber music. Faur�'s Piano Quintet no.1 renews the powerful concentration of his earlier Piano Quartets in it's outer movements, while also looking forward to the composer's later works in the sophisticated phrasing and chromaticism of it's extended Adagio. Vibrant and spirited, it may be counted among the composer's finest creations.
