Richard Strauss made an auspicious, threefold debut on 18 Oct 1885, age 21: as soloist in Mozart's Piano Concerto in c, K. 491, and as composer and conductor with his own Symphony in f, op. 12. "Symphony - splendid. His playing - like his conducting debut - simply astounding" was but one reaction. Despite this spectacular success, Strauss only achieved his definitive breakthrough as a composer with Don Juan, Op. 20 in 1888, a work revealing a completely new approach to instrumentation. These are the two works that feature on Vol. 3 of Sebastian Weigle's Richard Strauss orchestral series.

More and more young German pianist Forian Glemser is establishing himself in concert life. Invitations to piano recitals and appearances with orchestras took him to almost all renowned concert halls in Germany, including Konzerthaus Berlin, Laeiszhalle Hamburg, Herkulessaal Munich, and others, as well as in other European countries in halls such as Wigmore Hall in London, Stefaniensaal in Graz, and the Brucknerhaus in Linz. For his debut with OehmsClassics, he wanted a pure Beethoven program that can hardly be more demanding. He has included the Eroica-Variationen Op. 35, the Sonate No. 30 Op. 109, and Sechs Bagatellen Op. 126- an impressive program for any career, much less that of such a young performer.

Enjott Schneider has recourse to unusual subjects in his compositions on this CD. Although the dialectic between triviality and art is still somewhat hidden in the Morgenstern Liederbuch, the Variations on Love (lonely hearts ads) and Chatroom intervene more strongly in the current phenomena of internet-chatting, high-speed cyber-dating and similar things. All the stops are pulled out - linguistically, musically and in terms of tempo. This is a CD that is sure to make a sensation and will give rise to controversy!

Dmitri Kitayenko has been Music Advisor of the Zagreb Philharmonic Orchestra since the 2011/12 season. And if there is something with which Maestro Kitayenko has a special affinity, it is the Russian repertoire. It was not surprising, therefore, that he decided on Stravinsky for the first recording of this cooperation between the Orchestra and the Oehms Classics label. This recording includes Stravinsky's very first work, the Symphony in E-flat major, as well as the rarely performed Suites 1 &2 orchestrated by Stravinsky during the years 1921 and 1925. These works for chamber orchestra, however, were originally composed from 1914 to 1920 during the composer's years of exile in Switzerland. The Zagreb Philharmonic is an orchestra boasting a 147-year-old tradition of distinguished performing in Zagreb and Croatia. It has been a promoter of the art of music across Croatia as well as the country's cultural ambassacdor in the world. As one of the trademarks of the city it operates in, the music institution that boasts a long and notable tradition embodies the image of Zagreb as a Central European urban center of music, art, and culture.

Just in time for this year's ARD Music Competition, OehmsClassics issues this debut CD by Sophia Brommer. The soprano won third prize in 2012 and swept the audience off it's feet. OehmsClassics was so convinced by her performance they decided to record the young singer in April 2013 as a co-production with the Bavarian Broadcasting Company.

At the center of this recording is the Suite liturgique by Andre Jolivet, a French composer whose neglect is utterly unjustified. Christiane Karg interprets this sacred work in a ravishing and captivating manner. Stefan Schilli, solo oboist of the Bavarian Radio Symphony Orchestra, is the soloist of the other titles on this CD; his guests include Sebastian Klinger and Oliver Triendl.
