The present CD is dedicated to one of the most beautiful new organs in Austria, the instrument from the Lenter workshop built in early 2010 in the parish church "Unserer lieben Frau Geburt" in Maishofen with 25 sounding stops. Thanks to it's soft, sustainable and very natural sound, this organ is ideally suited for the adequate presentation of organ music of all significant epochs; combined with the warm acoustics, this organ is inspiring to an exceptional degree for players and listeners alike.

A true Platti Renaissance was initiated with the first two CDs that Sebastian Hess recorded for OehmsClassics. This CD, made as a co-production with BR Klassik, was recorded on August 2012 at St. Jacobus Kirche in Grosslangheim. Axel Wolf accompanies Sebastian Hess on the lute. Volume 3 is supplemented with solo sonatas by Antonio Vivaldi.

‘Vom Himmel hoch, da komm ich her’ is a new CD featuring organ music with which to celebrate the Christmas season. + Works by Bach, Brahms and Barber stand alongside lesser-known works by composers including Alexandre Guilmant (1837-1911), Otto Malling (1848-1915) and Flor Peeters (1903-86), making for an interesting and diverse holiday listening experience. + Michael Hartmann (b. 1955), organist, lecturer and artistic director, is the featured performer on the Oehms Classics release.

Pietro Mascagni (1863–1945) was one of those composers famous for a single work, the remainder of their oeuvre being practically unknown. His opera Iris is based on the libretto by Luigi Illica, who also wrote the libretti for Puccini operas such as La Bohème, Tosca and Madama Butterfly. It was Illica who gave birth to the idea of an opera about Japan. Exotic subjects, i.e. those set in distant lands, were in vogue throughout Europe, and the Far East in particular was very present at the time. It was Mascagni’s express wish to write ‘original’ music to this specific material, something hitherto unheard-of. This recording with the choir and orchestra of the Berliner Operngruppe under Felix Krieger is a live recording of the Berlin premiere of the original version from the Konzerthaus Berlin. The Berliner Operngruppe celebrated its 10th anniversary.

This is where two one-hit-wonders of nineteenth-century Italian opera meet. Mascagni's Cavalleria rusticana was first performed in Rome in 1890 and Leoncavallo Pagliacci in Milan two years later. The subject of the Cavalleria rusticana is based on a then very popular peasant tragedy by Giovanni Verga. Pagliacci draws on the play "La femme de Tabarin" by Catulle Mendès, with the libretto by the composer. Both operas premiered on 29.09.2018 at the Oper Graz with the Grazer Philharmoniker under the direction of Oksana Lyniv.

Detlev Glanert (*1960) is a contemporary German composer who found early success with his opera "Der Spiegel des großen Kaisers ("The mirror of the big emperor"), which won the Rolf Liebermann opera award in 1995. His newest stage work is "Oceane." The premiere took place on April 28, 2019 in the Deutsche Oper Berlin and enthused the audience and critics and was hailed as "one of the most exciting new operas of recent times" by Berlin Newspaper "Der Tagesspiegel". Glanert and the writer Hans-Ulrich Treichel conceived the libretto, loosely according to Theodor Fontane's fragment "Oceane von Parceval". It tells the story of Oceane, a mystical female creature of the sea, that comes to land in search of the ability to feel emotions. The world premiere recording was recorded by the Orchestra and Choir of the Deutsche Oper Berlin under the baton of Donald Runnicles. Maria Bengtsson excels with her ethereal silver soprano voice in the title role; the tenor Nikolai Schukoff as Martin von Dircksen succeeds in portraying the human inability to recognize the true essence of a creature beyond a dazzling exterior

•Gustav Mahler’s Sixth Symphony employs the largest orchestral apparatus he ever used. It is a work of extremes, from the Andante’s main, sweetly cantabile theme to the chordal agglomerations breaking out in triple forte “with raw force” at the centre of the Finale’s development section, to its final, inevitable catastrophic ending. This next-to-last release in the OehmsClassics Mahler SACDcycle presents a live recording from the Cologne Philharmonie made in November 2013.

Stefanie Schumacher was born near Freiburg and is a member of the Ensemble Zeitsprung. She performs regularly as a guest with other contemporary ensembles such as the Ensemble Oktopus. With works that she has herself commissioned, her goal is to allow the direct emotional expression particularly associated with the accordion in folk music to influence the contemporary creation of new music for her instrument.

This Oehms Classics 2CD set presents a complete edition of the four symphonies of Johannes Brahms by the Tonkünstler Orchestra led by Andrés Orozco-Estrada. The Tonkünstler Orchestra is among the most important institutions on the Austrian music scene. The orchestra maintains a concert repertoire from Viennese Classicism to the Romantic period through to music of the 21st c. Mr. Orozco-Estrada, born in Colombia and active on the Viennese music scene since 1997, concludes his music directorship of the Tonkünstler Orchestra, which he’s held since the 2009/2010 season, in September 2015.

•For their second OehmsClassics recording, the Lower Austrian Tonkünstler Austria decided on the Mendelssohn First and Third Symphonies. Recorded live at the Vienna Musikverein, these performances further reveal the growing sense of appreciation conductor Andrés Orozco-Estrada is receiving. He is soon to be appointed Principal Conductor of the hr‑Sinfonieorchester, Frankfurt, Music Director of the HoustonSymphony and Principal Guest Conductor of the LondonPhilharmonic.

This 2012 Frankfurt Opera production of Richard Wagner’s second of four “Ring” operas, Die Walküre, features the Frankfurter Opern und Museumsorchester led by conductor Sebastian Weigle. The cast of singers includes Frank van Aken as Siegmund, Amber Wagner as Sieglinde, Susan Bullock as Brünnhilde, Terje Stensvold as Wotan, Ain Anger as Hunding and Martina Dike as Fricka. Mr. Weigle is the General Music Director of Frankfurt Opera, a position he’s held since 2008/9.

The musical Anatevka tells the story of the Jewish milkman Tevye and his family in the Russian Empire around 1905. When the three eldest daughters reach marrying age and, in Tevye’s view, fall in love with completely unsuitable men, his consciously traditional way of life is turned completely upside down. After initial discord over his daughters’ nuptial wishes, love ultimately triumphs and the three girls marry their respective chosen ones. Anatevka wase seen on the Lake Stage in Mörbisch in 2014 for the first time; with its wonderfully beautiful melodies, scenery and a brilliant production, it is a true feast for the eyes and ears.

The album works well for what it actually is: a collection of music by Argentine composers who attempted to reconcile the indigenous rhythms of their homeland with new European currents. These range from the semi-popular styles of some of the earlier composers to the avant-garde rhythmic treatments of Alberto Ginastera, who actually benefits from being placed in these surroundings. In a way, the album is a survey of paths not taken by Piazzolla, something that may indeed be of great interest to his devotees, but buyers should know what they're getting into.

The piano concertos of Frédéric Chopin are amongst the greatest and best-known orchestral works of the 19th century. It is thus no wonder that every pianist would like to play them and, of course, record them as well. Joseph-Maurice Weder, winner of the SWISS AMBASSADOR'S AWARD 2013 in London, has achieved this in the unusual ensemble of the piano sextet. Chopin Concertos with Joseph-Maurice Weder and the Berlin Camerata. During the 19th century, the practice of transcribing orchestral works for smaller ensembles was widespread- in the age prior to recordings, this was an indispensible way of helping compositions achieve their breakthrough with the public.

Anna and Ines Walachowski have long been considered amongst the leading present-day piano duos. For the past two decades, the sisters have thrilled their audiences on international stages. They have received invitations to many renowned festivals, including the Rheingau Music Festival, the Schleswig-Holstein Music Festival, the Mecklenburg Vorpommern Festival, the Dresden Music Festival, the MDR Music Summer, the Lower Saxon Music Days, the Mosel Festival, the Ludwigsburg Castle Festival as well as the Harbin Music Festival and the Bangkok Music Festival. This production of recordings on the Welte Philharmonie Organ in the Museum for Musical Automatons in Seewen is dedicated to the subject of improvisation. During the 19th century, improvisations occupied an undisputed place in piano and organ music. This free, imaginative manner of playing in the era of Classicism and Romanticism also existed during the 20th century, especially amongst organists in their daily practice, but it receded into the background of public musical life and perception in the eyes of the music industry.

Josef Still, cathedral organist at the Hohe Domkirche Trier since 1994 and the expert authority on organs of the diocese of Trier, is the successor to the long-time cathedral organist Wolfgang Oehms and has recorded an extraordinary music programme to celebrate the Christmas festivities on the present album. The works of selected Polish composers appear on the recording, together with works of J.S. Bach and Max Reger performed on the Beckerath Organ in the Lebensbaumkirche in Manderscheid. The Beckerath Organ, which was moved to Manderscheid from the former institute of Church Music of the diocese of Speyer and renovated by Mayer Organ Builders, has found a new home in the Lebensbaumkirche. Here it can resound in a new-found brilliance.
