Captured live on record at Suntory Hall last year, John Williams In Tokyo is set to be released by Deutsche Grammophon and follows his acclaimed concert albums, The Berlin Concert and John Williams in Vienna, which topped charts around the globe. The first single, 'Superman March' celebrates the composer in the week of his 92nd birthday along with a music video of the performance. Captured live at the concert in Tokyo, the album includes 11 pieces conducted by John Williams and a bonus track, 'Tributes! (for Seiji)' composed by John Williams for Seiji Ozawa, conducted by St�phane Den�ve.

Since it's foundation Erato has made Bach one of the cornerstones of it's catalogue, with Jean-Fran�ois Paillard responsible for the orchestral works. His Ensemble Instrumental Jean-Marie Leclair which he founded in 1953 and later renamed Orchestre de Chambre Jean-Fran�ois comprised just fifteen or so players, in order to achieve greater legibility, lightness and vivacity, and it paid particularly close attention to style, thanks to an in-depth knowledge of historical performance practice. Rigor but also luminosity and sensitivity, intelligence and maturity without any loss of freshness or elegance, shimmering sonorities... The superlatives were showered on each new release. Over the years, Paillard's Bach recordings were also graced by a range of top-flight soloists: Rampal, Marie-Claire Alain to name but a few.

With Farewells, Warsaw-born countertenor Jakub J�zef Orlinski, partnered by pianist Michal Biel, offers a panorama of Polish song. Often nostalgic in spirit, the programme of the album spans 150 frequently turbulent years. "Michal and I started exploring the Polish art song repertoire when we were at the Juilliard School in New York," explains Orlinski, whose recordings until now have focused on the baroque era. "As a Polish duo we love to present Polish music to our public. I know that no language can present a barrier when it's set to music. I believe that music builds bridges and I am sure that those songs will get under the listener's skin." The album takes it's name from a triptych of songs written in 1948 by Henryk Czyz, who joins five other composers on the programme: Stanislaw Moniuszko (known as the 19th century's father of Polish opera), Karol Szymanowski (recognised around the world as a major post-Romantic composer), Mieczyslaw Karlowicz, Tadeusz Baird and Pawel Lukaszewski, a leading figure in contemporary Polish music.

Swiss-born Michel Corboz was a conductor whose joy in singing inspired his exploration of choral works and opera. A fine baritone with a background in church music, he said that he even wanted "an orchestra that sings". In 1964, opening up a new world of possibilities, producer Michel Garcin signed Corboz and the Ensemble Vocal de Lausanne - the group he had founded three years earlier - to the Erato label. Over the ensuing years, Corboz (who died in 2021) built an extensive discography, expanding the audience for composers like Monteverdi - sparsely represented at the time - Carissimi, Lalande and Marc-Antoine Charpentier, while reinforcing the presence of such figures as Bach, Handel and Purcell. Intent above all on doing justice to the composer, he readily collaborated with both period specialists and the modern instruments of the Orchestre de Chambre de Lausanne and Lisbon's Gulbenkian Orchestra. A substantial number of the recordings in this 74-disc set are receiving their first CD release and have been specially remastered in high definition. Encompassing the Renaissance and the Baroque, this is the first and larger of two boxes to be devoted to Corboz's Erato discography; it's counterpart will range from the Classical era to the 20th century.

Alexandre Tharaud's relationship with film music runs deep - it also ranges wide. On his double album CINEMA, the French pianist delves into 50 celebrated film scores by composers from France, Italy, the USA, Japan, Poland, Romania and Lebanon - 19 in all. Among them are Michel Legrand, John Williams, Ennio Morricone, Francis Lai, Marvin Hamlisch, Nino Rota and Philip Glass. As Tharaud says: "This album pays tribute to them with a selection of pieces for piano and orchestra and for piano solo, most in their original versions, creating a sound-world every bit as thrilling without the motion picture." The movie magic is reinforced by Tharaud's starry partners on the album: Antonio Pappano conducts the Orchestra dell'Accademia Nazionale di Santa Cecilia, and making guest appearances are singers Vanessa Paradis, Cam�lia Jordana and Sabine Devieilhe, clarinettist Michel Portal and vioinist Nemanja Radulovic.

Bizet: Les P�cheurs de perles - Les P�cheurs de perles is known above all for it's magnificent duet for tenor and baritone. Here, that celebrated number is set in the context of a complete performance that expresses the very essence of Gallic style. Pierre Dervaux leads the forces of the Op�ra-Comique and a cast of emblematic French singers of the post-War era. They are joined by Nicolai Gedda - Swedish-born, but characteristically and idiomatically elegant as the romantic hero Nadir.

This album, which focuses on arias from Handel's more rarely-performed operas, is the first that Philippe Jaroussky has devoted entirely to the composer - though his Erato discography already includes complete recordings of Faramondo, Partenope and, on DVD, Alcina, and arias by Handel feature on the countertenor's Carestini: A Castrato's Story. Praising Jaroussky in Handel, the New York Times has described him as "incomparable... thrilling of voice." Now, for the first time, Jaroussky brings his impeccable Handelian credentials to an entire album devoted to arias by the composer, who produced thirty-five operas for the London stage between 1711 and 1741. For all Handel's current popularity, comparatively few of his operas are performed with great regularity. Works such as Giulio Cesare, Alcina, Ariodante, Agrippina, Serse, Rodelinda, Rinaldo, Partenope, Orlando, and Tamerlano have achieved varying degrees of currency, but, apart from an aria from Rodelinda, Jaroussky's new album puts the emphasis on operas we are less likely to hear in the theatre or concert hall: Amadigi di Gaula; Arianna in Creta; Flavio, re di Longobardi; Giustino; Imeneo; Radamisto (represented by no fewer than four arias); Riccardo primo, re d'Inghilterra; Siroe, re di Persia and Tolomeo, re di Egitto. A number of these operas were written for the famous castrato Senesino, who created many leading roles for Handel.
