Jordi Savall presents two declarations of intent, two proclamations of faith, two messages of acknowledgment and two affirmations, both strong and ambiguous at the same time, by Couperin himself, through the two great ancestors to whom he paid homage: L'Apoth�ose de Lully (1725) and L'Apoth�ose de Corelli (1726).

This live recording made on January 31st, 2002 at the Liceu Theater in Barcelona is already a cornerstone of any Monteverdi discography. Previously only available on DVD from Opus Arte, this multi-channel SACD version reveals the full scale of Jordi Savall's inspiration. Beautifully executed by La Capella Reial de Catalunya, Le Concert des Nations and a cast of soloists that includes Furio Zanasi, Sara Mingardo and the late Monteserrat Figueras, this is a release to treasure.

Composed in 1976, Music for 18 Musicians has become a cornerstone of 20th century repertoire in general and percussion music in particular, and has been cited as the seed that ultimately spawned ambient trance music created by admiring practitioners like Orbital, Aphex Twin and the Orb. Originally available only as a volume in Steve Reich's 1997 10-CD boxed set, this new digital recording of the composer's signature opus is now available as a single-disc release.

With this eagerly awaited recording of Symphonies Nos.2 & 3, Sir Colin Davis completes his enlightening Nielsen symphony cycle. The first title in the series, Symphonies Nos.4 & 5, was Editor's Choice in Gramophone and Orchestral Choice of the Month in BBC Music Magazine. The second, with Symphonies Nos.1 & 6 was awarded CD of the Week in the Sunday Times. Nielsen's second symphony was inspired by a naive but vivid painting representing the four temperaments of the human personality. Adopting these defining characters for each of the symphony's movements Nielsen realized a sonic depiction of emotion. His third symphony, the most openly Danish of his symphonies, portrays spaciousness, power and vitality and is considered his greatest international achievement.
