Doppler: The Complete Flute Music, Vol. 2 / Arimany
The Doppler brothers played a dominant role in the K&K Monarchy’s musical life as composers, conductors, musicians and as orchestral soloists. They were on good terms with acknowledged artists of the era, such as Ferenc Liszt, Ferenc Erkel, and Jozsef Bajza. This is the second release in a set of ten comprising the Dopplers' complete music for flute(s), including various arrangements. Flautist Claudi Arimany spent decades researching this project, inspiring many famous musicians to become involved in its realisation. Claudi Arimany is considered to be the direct heir, both in interpretation and musical concept, of his mentor and colleague Jean-Pierre Rampal. Since the 1980s he has been working to study and revive pieces for flute, which led him to this project. He is joined on this recording by artists including Janos Balint, Shigenori Kudo, Clara Novacova, Karl-Heinz Schutz, Alan Branch, Ingrid Kertesi, and others.
