Following on from their acclaimed Resonus debut the Fidelio Trio continues it's exploration of the French piano trio with this impressive new recording of works by Gabriel Faur�, Ernest Chausson, and Erik Satie. Chausson's opulent and lyrical Op. 3 piano trio from 1881 is joined by Faur�'s only work in the genre - the heartfelt Piano Trio in D minor, Op. 120 - composed during the latter part of his life. The album is completed with arrangements by John White of works by Erik Satie - selections from his only liturgical work, the Messe des Pauvres, and the incidental music to his own play, Le Pi�ge de M�duse. The 'virtuosic Fidelio Trio' (The Sunday Times) is Darragh Morgan, violin, Adi Tal, cello and Mary Dullea, piano. Shortlisted for the 2016 Royal Philharmonic Society Music Awards, the Fideliio Trio is an enthusiastic champion of the piano trio genre, performing the widest possible range of repertoire on concert stages across the world; it has broadcast regularly on BBC Radio 3, RTE Lyric FM, WQXR, and featured on a Sky Arts documentary.

Renowned period hornist Anneke Scott returns to Resonus with a programme of works for horn that chart a fascinating and pivotal period in the development of the instrument and it's repertoire in nineteenth-century France. Joined by pianist Steven Devine, this album, which also celebrates 200 years since the birth of Charles Gounod, features a selection of works composed for both natural and piston horns by Gounod, Meifred and Gallay, as well as a Gounod arrangement by Fran�ois Br�mond, all performed on original period horns and a grand piano by �rard. Anneke began her studies at The Royal Academy of Music (London) and then, specialising in aspects of period horn playing, undertook postgraduate study in France and the Netherlands. She is principal horn of a number of internationally renowned period instrument ensembles including Sir John Eliot Gardiner's Orchestre R�volutionnaire et Romantique and The English Baroque Soloists, Rapha�l Pichon's ensemble Pygmalion, Harry Christopher's The Orchestra of the Sixteen, the Irish Baroque Orchestra, and the Dunedin Consort and Players. She is similarly in great demand as a guest principal horn regularly appearing with orchestras and ensembles worldwide.

Rising star saxophonist Dominic Childs makes his solo recording debut with this exquisite programme of French works for the instrument. Joined by the internationally renowned pianist Simon Callaghan, together they present an engaging recital of works either written by or inspired by women, and that were written with both piano and orchestral accompaniment in mind - the 1903 Rhapsodie by Claude Debussy sits alongside works by Fernande Decruck, Paule Maurice & Fran�ois Borne. Dominic Childs is much in demand as a classical saxophonist and music educator who enjoys a multi-dimensional career. As an orchestral musician, Dom has toured, recorded, and performed with the BBC Symphony Orchestra, Royal Northern Sinfonia, Royal Ballet Sinfonia, Royal Philharmonic Orchestra and the BBC National Orchestra of Wales, including live broadcasts for BBC Radio 3 and performing at the 'Last Night of the Proms.'

Following on from the critical success of his recording of Gerald Finzi's By Footpath and Stile (Resonus RES10109), rising star baritone Marcus Farnsworth here makes his solo album debut for Resonus. Presenting an instantly striking and diverse collection of world premiere recordings of song by the contemporary composer Martin Bussey, Farnsworth is joined by the renowned young pianist James Baillieu for the A.E. Housman cycle Blue Remembered Hills (with texts from A Shropshire Lad), the Two Hardy Songs, and the evocative and characterful Garden Songs. Also included are the substantial song cycle for voice and small ensemble Through a Glass, Darkly - directed by the acclaimed conductor Thomas Kemp - and the beautiful stand-alone song for baritone and violin, The Windhover.

Making their Resonus Classics debut is period wind ensemble Syrinx with a programme of works by Georg Philipp Telemann. Revealing a fascinating blend of styles, Telemann’s wind music is an eclectic mix of perfectly balanced Baroque dances, full-blown orchestral overtures and character pieces exemplified by the rustic miniature of Les Paysans and the gentle slumber of muted double-reeds in Le Someil.

Making their Resonus debut is the unique and innovative recorder consort Consortium5. Presenting a diverse and compelling programme of consort music from the English Renaissance period, the group chart the early development of instrumental music in England, with a plethora of both well and lesser-known composers from the period including such luminaries as Robert Parsons, William Byrd, John Dowland & Christopher Tye alongside Edward Blankes, Jerome Bassano, William Brade and Antony Holborne among many others. This fascinating programme is performed on the group’s exquisite matching set of ten Bassano recorders by Adriana Breukink.

This compelling programme explores the anticipation of Christmas through works by masters of the Renaissance alongside pieces by living composers combining to conjure an aura of mystery and excitement. Following critical acclaim for their series of duo recordings for violin and flute on the theme of 'The Art of Elegant Conversation', period instrument group the Elysium Ensemble returns to Resonus with an expanded line-up to present an arresting and vibrant new recording of flute concertos by the Baroque composer Johann Joachim Quantz. With Elysium founders Greg Dikmans (flute) and Lucinda Moon (violin) as soloist and leader, the Ensemble breathe fresh new life into these striking and beautifully crafted works with performances that are at once filled with a compelling spirit and warmth. The Elysium Ensemble is an Early Music group from Australia specializing in music from the 17th- and 18th centuries. It has been acclaimed by critics for it's elegant performances, fine musicianship and authoritative interpretations of music from the Baroque and Classical periods. This special ensemble embodies the concept of elysium (defined in the 17th century as a state of ideal happiness) by bringing together musicians whose awareness of the stylistic demands of the repertoire is combined with a mastery of period instruments. The ensemble's performances are indicative of the freshness and spontaneity which the musicians bring to this collaboration through discussion, rehearsal, experimentation and research.

N this, their debut recording with Resonus Classics, St Martin's Voices presents a selection of contemporary choral works for the Christmas season. With settings of poetry from the fifteenth century to the present day, these new carols explore themes of winter snowscapes, the anticipation and contemplation of Advent, the Christmas story as seen by the women at it's heart, and the joy of coming in from the cold to celebrate together. In a programme made entirely of premiere recordings, this album features works by Cecilia McDowall, Roderick Williams and Lucy Walker, among others. The album also boasts a major new carol suite by Bob Chilcott, with libretto by Georgia Way entitled Mary, Mother, which was premiered by the ensemble in 2022.

The Choir of HM Chapel Royal, Hampton Court Palace build on the tradition established by it's historic forebears of cradling new church music, with a programme of music for Advent, Christmas and the Epiphany featuring seven premiere recordings alongside new interpretations of more established repertory that has become embedded in the musical heritage at the Palace. The album features music by composers including Philip Moore, Andrew Carter, William Mathias, Martin Hindmarsh, David Willcocks and Francis Grier.

Howard Skempton is recognized as one of the UK’s most renowned and respected living composers. Although particularly influenced by Benjamin Britten (with whom he worked), John Cage, and Cornelius Cardew, Skempton’s music inhabits its own unique sound world. His major new work, 50 Preludes and Fugues for Organ (written 2022-23), is given its world premiere recording by Matthew Owens on two of the finest organs in the UK, St George’s Church, Hanover Square, London, and Merton College, Oxford. Inspired by J.S. Bach’s 48 Preludes and Fugues, Skempton takes us on a contemporary journey in his own inimitable style and pays homage to Bach through two extra pairs of Preludes and Fugues. Additional works on this album include the composer’s earliest organ work, Wedding March (1971), and his latest, Recessional 2, written especially for this recording.

Performing on the Taylor & Boody Organ of Sidney Sussex College, Cambridge, the critically acclaimed organist Stephen Farr presents a rare exploration of the keyboard works of William Byrd on the organ. This historically informed instrument is made in the early English style and makes a fitting tribute in this, the composer's 400th anniversary year.

Acclaimed harpsichordist Guillermo Brachetta returns to Resonus to begin a major recording of the complete Pièces de Clavecin by the French Baroque master, François Couperin. Often wistful and valedictory in tone, the fourth and final book of this landmark collection of keyboard music was completed at the very end of Couperin’s life and in the grip of failing health. Containing many vivid musical representations of real characters, Couperin’s grace and elegance in writing for this instrument is evident to the very end. Guillermo Brachetta’s previous Resonus release featuring Concertos from JS Bach, WF Bach, and Carl Graun was widely applauded by audiences and critics alike.

For their debut album on Resonus Classics, The Gould Piano Trio presents three Trios with strong American ties. Charles Ives’ (1874–1954) only Trio for Violin, Cello and Piano is one of his major works is without question. Amy Beach (1867–1944) was recognized in her lifetime as one of the most acclaimed American composers. Her Trio, Op. 150, was composed in 1938 and is steeped in the developmental processes of late nineteenth century models while quoting two Inuit folk songs. Although born and educated in England, Rebecca Clarke (1886–1979) wrote her Piano Trio as part of a chamber music competition in Pittsfield MA and has been described as the finest work in the genre by any British composer.

The Gentlemen of HM Chapel Royal, Hampton Court Palace and their director Carl Jackson make their Resonus Classics debut with this album of works for lower voices by Thomas Tallis – himself a Gentleman of the Tudor Chapel Royal serving under four monarchs. Recorded in the impressive surroundings of the Chapel Royal where the choir are resident, this first release with the ensemble presents works for four and seven voices including a reconstruction of Tallis’s Missa Puer natus est nobis based on chant for Christmas Day, and the sumptuous Suscipe quaeso Domine. The Gentlemen of HM Chapel Royal, Hampton Court Palace sing services throughout the year in the palace’s splendid Chapel Royal, whose ceiling was installed by Henry VIII in the 1530s. There they are joined by up to eighteen boy choristers, who are drawn from schools nearby and led by Carl Jackson, Director of Music. Just as in the sixteenth century, the choir’s personnel is adapted dynamically to the occasion and the demands of the repertory. In ordinary times, there are six Gentlemen and for special occasions the ensemble can expand to as many as fourteen singers.
