Keyboard legend, Rick Wakeman, famous the world over for his hugely successful and high-profile rock career - most notably with leading bands Yes and The Strawbs and for his sought-after collaborations with top artists of the day such as David Bowie and Black Sabbath - is pleased to celebrate the festive season with a brand-new album, 'Christmas Portraits'. Producer Andy Zax says he, sound producer Brian Kehew and mastering engineer Dave Schultz avoided interfering with the tapes as much as possible in order to preserve their authenticity. "It's not surprising that other producers' first reaction to these tapes over the years has been 'uh-oh,' immediately followed by 'we've gotta find a way to fix this.' I'm not unsympathetic to that approach, but if there's a single overriding lesson that Brian Kehew and I have learned since we began working with the Woodstock tapes in 2005, it's this: you can't fix them... Elvis On Tour is a 6CD/BR box set comprised of the audio from four of the shows (and two rehearsals) that were part of Elvis' 1972 North American tour. Originally recorded for the Elvis On Tour concert film that was released later that year, the set features a total of 145 tracks, including 91 tracks that have been previously unreleased, as well as the original Elvis On Tour Concert Film on Blu-ray. All packaged with a 44-page booklet that includes rare photos, new historical essays and more.

Deluxe five CD edition. The latest chapter in Columbia/Legacy's highly acclaimed Bob Dylan Bootleg Series takes a fresh look at Time Out of Mind, Dylan's mid-career masterpiece, celebrating the album and it's enduring impact 25 years after it's original release on September 30, 1997. Fragments - Time Out of Mind Sessions (1996-1997): The Bootleg Series Vol.17 follows the evolution of songs written for the album, from intimate early incarnations in the previously unreleased 1996 Teatro sessions through incandescent live renditions showcasing Dylan and his touring ensemble channeling the songs on-stage from 1998-2001. Disc one premieres 2022 mixes, by Michael H. Brauer, of the eleven original recordings on Time Out of Mind, sounding more like how the songs came across when the musicians originally played them in the room. Discs two and three are comprised of rare outtakes and alternate versions of songs written for Time Out of Mind. Disc four presents songs from Time Out of Mind in a series of spectacular live performances from 1998-2001. As a bonus for fans, disc five brings together studio recordings of the four Dylan songs omitted from the original Time Out of Mind track list as well as exemplary live performances of "Cold Irons Bound" and "Tryin' To Get To Heaven." The twelve tracks on disc five were previously available on The Bootleg Series Vol. 8: Tell Tale Signs.

ZZ Top - the Studio Albums 1970 - 1990 is a 10 CD boxset of the band's classic studio albums from their Warner Bros. Years. Black Sabbath made a two-pronged comeback in 1980 and 1981 when Ronnie James Dio joined their ranks as their new lead singer for the platinum albums, Heaven And Hell and Mob Rules. On the 1982 Mob Rules U.S. tour, they decided to record shows to create the first official Black Sabbath live album. With material drawn evenly between songs written with Ronnie as well as older classics such as "War Pigs" and "Iron Man," when Live Evil was released at the end of 1982, it represented an accurate and powerful memento of Black Sabbath Mk2 on their second world tour. Although it was hailed by influential heavy metal magazine Kerrang! As "one of the greatest live albums of all time" in 1983, the band was never completely satisfied with the original mix. Now we are able to present a fresh, new 40th anniversary mix of the entire album, remixed from the original analog multi tracks by longtime associate of the band, Wyn Davis. The packaging will also include a 40-page hard back book featuring a newly commissioned 12,000-word essay, the new remix as a double LP, as well as the original double album, newly remastered in 2022 by Andy Pearce. The CD edition will also be four discs, with a 60-page hardback book.

Sony Classical is proud to announce the release of this year's Summer Night Concert 2020 with the Vienna Philharmonic, conducted by Valery Gergiev with tenor Jonas Kaufmann as soloist. The Summer Night Concert was performed this year on September 18th 2020. It is an annual open-air event, which has been held since 2008. The previous series was the "Concert for Europe", which took place from 2004 until 2007. The park of Sch�nbrunn Palace in Vienna/Austria is the magical setting for the concert. The illustrious conductors who have previously led the orchestra at this event are Georges Pr�tre, Daniel Barenboim, Franz Welser-M�st, Valery Gergiev, Lorin Maazel, Christoph Eschenbach, Zubin Mehta, Semyon Bychkov and Gustavo Dudamel. Thanks to it's UNESCO World Heritage setting in the Baroque park of Sch�nbrunn with the palace as a backdrop, the Summer Night Concert adds great visual charm to it's superb musical quality. This event is classical music at it's very best. Millions of viewers and listeners in more than 80 countries can follow the concert online, on TV and radio. The Vienna Philharmonic's 2020 Summer Night Concert took place in unusual circumstances. After the coronavirus pandemic resulted in the longest enforced break in the orchestra's history, the concert planned for May 2020 had to be postponed until September and took place for the first time with a reduced audience. The Vienna Philharmonic devoted this very special concert to the theme of love. This is the fourth time that Valery Gergiev has conducted one of these concerts: he first appeared with the orchestra in 1997 and has conducted the Summer Night Concerts in 2007, 2011 and 2018. Valery Gergiev is a vivid representative of the St Petersburg conducting school. His debut at the Mariinsky (then Kirov) Theatre came in 1978 with Prokofiev's War and Peace. In 1988 Valery Gergiev was appointed Music Director of the Mariinsky Theatre, and in 1996 he became it's Artistic and General Director. He successfully collaborates with the world's great opera houses, works with the World Orchestra for Peace (which he has directed since 1997), the Philharmonic Orchestras of Berlin, Paris, Vienna, New York and Los Angeles, the Symphony Orchestras of Chicago, Cleveland, Boston and San Francisco, the Royal Concertgebouw Orchestra (Amsterdam) and many other ensembles. From 1995 to 2008 Valery Gergiev was Principal Conductor of the Rotterdam Philharmonic (of which he remains an honorary conductor to this day), and from 2007 to 2015 of the London Symphony Orchestra. Since autumn 2015 the maestro has headed the Munich Philharmonic. This year's programme featured the star tenor Jonas Kaufmann, who is appearing at one of these concerts for the very first time, even though he has been performing with the orchestra to great acclaim for the last two decades. Since his sensational d�but at the Metropolitan Opera in New York in a performance of "La Traviata" in 2006, Jonas Kaufmann has numbered among the top stars on the operatic horizon. The international press has singled him out as the "new king of tenors". Insiders praise him as the most important German tenor since Fritz Wunderlich. Kaufmann is just as much in demand internationally in the Italian and French repertoires as he is in German opera. He has sung Massenet's Werther in Paris and Vienna, Cavaradossi in Puccini's "Tosca" in London, at the Met and La Scala. His intensive characterizations of Don Jos� in Bizet's "Carmen" and Werther in Massenet's opera took opera fans throughout the world by storm. His solo albums are bestsellers only a few weeks after being released. In 2011 he was presented the coveted "Opera News Award" in New York. Shortly afterwards Kaufmann was named a "Chevalier de l'Ordre de l'Art et des Lettres" by French culture minister Fr�d�ric Mitterrand. Kaufmann has been selected several times as "Singer of the Year", by the classical music magazines "Opernwelt", "Diapason" and "Musical America" as well as by the juries of "Opus-Klassik" and the inaugural "International Opera Awards" (2013). The 177-year old tradition of the Vienna Philharmonic goes back to 1842, when Otto Nicolai conducted a Grand Concert with all members of the imperial "Hof-Operntheater". This event was originally called "Philharmonic Academy" and is regarded as the origin of the orchestra. Since it's founding, the orchestra has been managed by the administrative committee - a democratically elected body - and works with artistic, organisational and financial autonomy. All decisions are reached on a democratic basis during the general meeting of all members.

International concert pianist Roger Lord has been described by The China Daily as "the Piano Prince of Canada." This recording features twenty-one "treasures," short pieces that Lord has uncovered throughout his many travels in China. Hailing from Moncton, New Brunswick, Roger Lord won the First Prize in piano in the Canadian National Festival of Music as well as in the Canadian Music Competition. His various concertos have taken him to some of the world’s greatest cities, and he has performed as a soloist with symphony orchestras in North America, South America, Europe and Asia. He first travelled to China in 1999 and gave his first concert in the city of Qingtao in Shandong Province. He has since been to China nearly thirty times and has performed in most regions and important cities. He holds a Doctorate in Music and is now Professor of Piano at the Universite de Moncton in Canada.

Acrobat's British Hit Parade series has been established for well over a decade as a unique range of completist original artist collections comprising every record that appeared in the UK record sales charts in every year since the charts began in 1952. In recent years Acrobat has introduced parallel collections which consist of the B sides of all the records included in the main compilations, and these have proved hugely popular with collectors, since many of the records concerned have never been available on CD and are very rarely heard. This single CD set effectively completes the series, and is the companion product to our existing First British Hit Parade (ACRCG 711) and features the B sides of the tracks on that collection, which comprised all the records which appeared in the newly-established Top 15 British record sales chart, first published in November 1952. In this pre-rock 'n' roll era, B sides tended not be afterthoughts dashed off at the end of a session, and were generally afforded exactly the same time and treatment as the A sides, with full orchestral arrangements and productions, so these are high quality recordings, featuring some of the illustrious names from what was often called the golden age of popular music. As ever, it's an eclectic snapshot of an ignored but fascinating aspect of the pop business, including an in-depth booklet with background notes on every record. We are sure British Hit Parades enthusiasts will want this album to complete their collections of the series.
