Ju-Young Baek, who has been hailed as the “next Goddess of the Violin”, has performed one of the two works heard here, Krzysztof Penderecki’s Violin Concerto No. 2, under the direction of the composer. Grzegorz Nowak is the Royal Philharmonic Orchestra’s Principal Associate Conductor and worked closely with Ms. Baek in the recording of this, her debut CD with the RPO. The late Romantic Polish composer Karol Szymanowski’s Violin Concerto No. 1 is the other commanding work on this disc.
