“Body & Soul” marks Stefano Tirone aka S-Tone Inc.’s return, three years after “Onda”, a work dense of soul / disco / funk hints from the late ‘70s, a historical period that Stefano fully experienced and that inevitably left deep traces in his way of creating music. This sound has also inspired the two unreleased tracks included in the “Try My Love / Odoya” 45rpm, released in 2019, and is developed even further in this new full-length. As usual “Body & Soul” welcomes the presence of several guest artists, starting from Stefano’s long-time friend and collaborator Toco, here singing in four songs; he is also accompanied by a vocal trio that carries the listener into a world where Brazilian melodies blend with typical ‘70s disco rhythms. Laura Fedele is in the game again too: in “In the Name of Love” she elegantly dresses a jazz-funk piece characterized by Carlo Nicita’s flute, reminiscent of the famous Mizell Brothers. Laura also participates in the title track, a true manifesto of the album characterized by a funky bass line and by the space-disco atmosphere of the voices and the Wurlitzer. Among the new collaborations we have Afra Kane, a Nigerian singer who has lived in Italy, England and Switzerland, who gives a peculiar black shade to the album songs with her splendid voice, and Donatinho, son of the legendary João Donato, playing Rhodes and Moog and gracing Stefano’s music with his refined touch. “Midnight Sun”, a cinematic-flavored instrumental track that pays homage to The Maestro Ennio Morricone, who passed away in July 2020, closes a beautiful record captivating and precious in every note.

The arrival of Marvin Parks on today’s musical scene is a perfect addition to the renaissance of the Afro-American Jazz Crooner panorama, deeply rooted in the Black Music tradition. Having his roots in Gospel and in the ’50s and ’60s jazz singers by the likes of Nat King Cole, Johnny Hartman and Joe Williams, Marvin Parks yet remains by all means an artist of today. In his debut Marvin shapes his light baritone colors within the sound of a well-established group of musicians under the direction and production of Nicola Conte, giving a different light to well-known standards and some originals. The album has been recorded in two main sessions. The first one took palce at the Sorriso Studio in Bari, Italy with a fantastic lineup of musicians. The second, in Milan, Italy, at the Schema/Ishtar Records Blue Spirit studio. The first session brings a strong ‘60s Blue Note sound sensation, while the second, surrounded by a sort of African feeling, emanates hints of the historical Coltrane/Davis quintet, reminding the colors of Paris in the sixties…Paris, just by accident, is Marvin Parks’ hometown now.

Music fan, record collector and DJ Gerardo Frisina, together with the founders of Ishtar (Schema, Rearward, etc…), Luciano Cantone and Davide Rosa, sketched the guidelines of the artistic evolution for Ishtar the record company. + He is a figure of fundamental importance for Ishtar’s history and a point of reference that the Italian jazz scene cannot disregard. + In America, his remix work was featured on the album ‘Impulse - Revolutionary Jazz Reworked’, remixing Swing Low, Sweet Cadillac by Dizzy Gillespie. + Frisina’s latest, Movement, a new way in Latin jazz, is available on both CD and Vinyl.

Gerardo Frisina is one of the main artists in the Latin jazz and electronic music scene on an international level; historically bound to Ishtar Edizioni since the beginning, many of his tracks have only been released on 10 and 12-inch vinyl. His latest LPs, the “Olympia” 5-track EP and “Blue Latin” make no exception in this case: many have asked for a new release of these two albums, which is now finally made available. As added plus, four previously unreleased bonus tracks and reworked cuts that have never been published are included on this new release. Moving Ahead is the long-awaited new work by Gerardo Frisina, a double album worth of new material that gathers together the various sounds that have characterized his entire production. The experience collected over this long period therefore strongly affects a multiform album whose stylistic components are easily identifiable (Latin jazz, nu-jazz, Afro-Cuban, dub, electronic music) but that transcends any possible classification as a whole. The musical evolution of "Moving Ahead" is centered on hypnotic and pushing rhythmic patterns, on which the various guest musicians express themselves with all their melodic and emotional intensity. In addition to the already known Gendrickson Mena (trumpet), Ernesto Lopez (drums and percussion), Alfonso Deidda (baritone sax, flute) and Fabrizio Bernasconi (piano, Fender Rhodes), a special mention must be credited to Haruna Kuyateh, a young Gambian whom Gerardo saw performing as a street artist by pure chance by walking around the town of Milan: thanks to his instrument, the kora, the album's sound spectrum is enriched with new sensations in the songs "Naihi", "Naihi's Son" and "Kerewan".From the "Marombo" EP, which anticipated this release, "Moving Ahead" also delivers a new version of it's title-track, with a slightly different rhythm and with the addition of the vibraphone. The CD version of this record also includes the second part of "Marombo" and the exclusive "Mwanga", a bonus track not present in the 2LP edition. In short, "Moving Ahead" is the mature continuation of a 20-year long solo career, started in the early 2000s with "Ad Lib", that once again demonstrates how Gerardo's creativity still manifests itself today at very high levels.

Eight years have passed since the previous S-Tone Inc’s full length “Moon in Libra,” and, even if Stefano Tirone hasn’t released anything under his popular pseudonym as of late, the longtime collaboration and friendship with Tomas Di Cunto (Toco) has never expired. In fact, Tirone produced Toco’s “Memoria” in 2014, and since then has never stopped working with Toco, who is the co-author of 8 out of 10 tracks on this release. The sound of this new album is widely influenced by the Brazilian soul-funk sound of the late 1970s known as Black Rio. Despite its various influences, “Onda” does not sound as a mere copy of what’s already been done at all: S-Tone Inc. took all the necessary time to produce a new record, and the result is a strongly original and personal effort.

This new Schema release from Italian multi-reedist Gaetano Partipilois dedicated to the music of the '60s rearranged in a modern way. The result is a warm music, refined and full of pathos. Both active since the late '90s, Stefano Ghittoni and Luca "DJ Rocca" Roccatagliati have collected an infinite series of projects, collaborations, records and productions, focusing on the vast world of electronic music in any of its forms and shapes. Stefano Ghittoni is mostly known for his partnership with Cesare Malfatti in The Dining Rooms, who have just released their latest album "Do Hipsters Love Sun (Ra)?" on Schema Records. He also recently founded a record label called Intervallo Dischi, releasing vintage obscure and forgotten library music scores only on vinyl. On the other hand, DJ Rocca, founder of the Maffia Sound System project back in 1995, is very well known among lovers of drum 'n' bass and breakbeat genres, and his two-decade career can count on collaborations with Howie B, Zed Bias, Dimitri From Paris and Daniele Baldelli among others. Today, these two characters have finally been able to work together, and their artistic partnership has given life to the nine tracks of "Atemporal Space Tests", a haunting collection of electronic jazz-funk songs, from mid to downtempo. It's a fully instrumental record that plays very rhythmic and groovy, built on both analogic and digital sounds, like a floating and psychedelic soundtrack to a modern science fiction movie.

The fifth instalment in Schema’s 45rpm series features two tracks taken from the upcoming LP “The Revelations" from the namesake band. Little is known about this band, but once you hear Gerardo’s versions you might want to google them... “Soul 111” and “Lively” had been picked up and reworked by Gerardo Frisina, who delivers his treatment of these groovy tracks. “Soul 111” is a long journey through cinematic atmospheres where a rock guitar, a dreamy vibraphone and a steady groove will take you way. “Lively" is an easygoing track that leads us straight in the Italian cinemas of the 70s - the sound is fresh and it's perfect for these lastdays of summer heat...

Alex Puddu is at the top of his game, with a strong set of tight-produced soulful and melodic tracks that bring you back to the late '70s / early '80s, in the middle of the Soul-Funk and Boogie music scene. "Discotheque" also hosts the brilliant collaboration with Gene Robinson Jr., singer of the legendary Philadelphia R&B/funk band Breakwater, on three tracks. If you believed the modern soul/funk/R&B scene had nothing else to say, "Discotheque" is here to prove you wrong! Alex Puddu is one of the most direct and creative artists and composers of our day; a multi-instrumentalist with visions and skills. He was born in Rome in 1967 and moved to Copenhagen, Denmark in 1987. He began his music career as a drummer at the age of fifteen. He is truly devoted to the Italian vintage sound of the giallo/poliziottesco and horror movies from the early seventies: Jazz/percussive psych-groove. His work is inspired by soundtrack maestros such as Piccioni, Umiliani Cipriani, Morricone, Ferrio, de Masi, and Micalizzi.

The Devil Made Me Do It is an album with the work from composer Alex Puddu, a long time Schema Records collaborator with several solo works in a very different music field than this. In fact, teh main source of inspiration of ''The Devil..'' is the music of Feta Kuti, with particular reference to the Africa 70 project to whic he belonged together with drummer Tony Allen. In its original version, ''The Devil Made Me Do It'' is pure downtempo afro beat while, for what concerns the other two versions here included, the ''Invisible Cosmic Echoes'' has a slower pace and is characterized - as the title suggests - by reverberations and space sound, while teh ''Invisible Astral Wave'' is perfect for a DJ remix and has got a slightly accelerated pace, with an emphasis on the percussive / tribal element. ''The Devil Made Me Do It'' confirms once again that a handful o fnotes and chords is more than enough to produce charming and enchanting music; to light the fuse of creativity we don't need anything else than a bunch of few right tones!
