Gerardo Frisina's journey into music continues perpetually in search for the right balance between Jazz, Afro-Latin and contemporary beats. The fruit of this exploration takes shape into his 4th album to date, due to be released in September '07: "Notebook, A Journey In Sound". This album is more than just a collection of remixes. Frisina produced a considerable amount of them for various labels from being a sophisticated record collector Gerardo transformed into a meticulous music producer that already released 3 albums and a variety of singles in these early years of the new millennium. Now his name is known internationally as well as being appreciated by worldwide music connoisseurs. This album features the most representative remixes he has produced ('Guarapiranga' being here the only one he did for Schema); but also encompasses 3 previously unreleased tracks (#6 'Calle de Candela'; #9 'Es Diferente'; #12 'Tokyo's Dream-'07 version-') as well as B sides of 12" he released, which synthesize the essence of his journey through music. The recording starts with Dizzy Gillespie's "Swing Low, Sweet Cadillac", which came out as a 12" promo on Impulse, as opposed to the CD version. Besides some electronic effects, in this version there is a piano riff improvised by Luigi Bonafede replacing the refrain sang by Dizzy in the original. The second track in the album is Toco's "Guarapirnaga". Here Gerardo retouches a song by the young Brazilian artist on Schema records, which came out in his '07 album "Outro Lugar". It remains a very Brazilian tune rhythmically, yet with a solid jazz structure. Next in the listening comes the rare "Dis-Ka-Ndombe" by Jorge Graf. The original was from a Uruguayan drummer of the '70s who recorded the piece in Italy. Oddly enough, it was much faster than this remix at 130 bpm. Gerardo's twiddled with this version for the U.K. based Afro-Latin label Soundway, adding a fantastic interpretation given by Gerardo's trusted sax man Germano Zenga. His improvisation enriches substantially the piece. The 4th track is a rather obscure (except for the very fans) Sun Ra composition "Stardust from Tomorrow". Gerardo re-worked it with his core musicians to make it an original piece. He named it 'dissociated mood version' because, when compared to the original, dissonant parts were added. The rhythm has got swing and the astral atmosphere hanging around draws inspiration from the late period of the 'cosmic' Jazz composer who died in '93. "Black Forest Stomp" is the remix of a track by Hipnosis, which Gerardo produced in 2003 for the German label Perfect Toy. The original rhythm of 6/8 was adjusted to 4/4 to suit the clubs, with Bossa drums.

The story of Smuggler Brothers starts in Palermo, the principal town of Sicily, in late 2011. Founded by three friends, musicians active in the fertile underground music scene of the city, the band aims to experiment with new artistic directions, combining a diverse set of influences ranging from Italian soundtracks and Library music from the 60s and 70s to African-American music, with groove as the core essence of the band. From the initial nucleus, the band evolved soon into an 8-piece combo. Following an exciting period spent rehearsing and honing their sound, Smuggler Brothers started an intense live activity, gaining the enthusiastic support of the local scene. In 2015 the band felt it was time to record their music- their self-titled debut album was recorded at Zeit Studio in Palermo, 15-tracks that were pressed on limited edition vinyl and released via Tone Deaf Records. Shortly after their album tour, the band suffered a period of instability- the departure of some players slowly weakened the structure of the group, forcing the surviving band members to interrupt the live activity and reflect on the future of the project. 2017 saw the group coming back to life with a clear plan. They began working on new music. This is the group's second album.

Paolo Fedreghini is a sincere and passionate music connoisseur, a musician who can also play the role of the producer, with a keen attitude to the research of various sounds, with a preference for electronic music. He meets Marco Bianchi, pianist, composer and friend with a log of six albums of contaminated music, mainly jazz, and various co-operations with Italian musicians and artists of world renown. Together the give birth to projects as musicians, composers and producers. Their arrival at Schema Records is on the occasion of the release of the album "Officine" in the name of Paul & Mark for the label Milano 2000, a debut album that marked the start of their by now consolidated cooperation. Paolo and Marco created a small structure that today is the confirmation of how important it is to have a base, a place where their musician friends can meet to trade cultural experiences and professionally grow, a small recording studio, well equipped even for live takes, that was the stage of all the co-operations of this album, so that Paolo and Marco decided to call it "Several People". One of the most relevant contributions to the album was offered by Ermanno Principe, a real talent, a versatile musician who sings on this album. He's a drummer. He worked with many important musicians on the Italian and international jazz scene, such as Dado Moroni, Barry Harris and more recently Steve Grossman. The other male voice is Daniel Richards'. Claudia Bernath and Angela Baggi, the woman vocalists of this project, often worked with Marco and Paolo in live and studio projects, just like Maxx Furian, one of the most appreciated Italian drummers, Marco Ricci, elegant double bass player, Angelo Pusceddu, volcanic percussionist, and Giacomo Tringali, J. J. Sansone, Mimmo Valente and Renato Daiello in the brass section. "Several People" hides a strong dualism: it's easy to notice that to songs like "You Are A Star", "Another Face", "Oriental Smile", "Stay" and "Nothing Has To Change" are opposed to instrumental compositions or numbers sung with a more marked rhythm, such as the single that was released about a year ago, "Please Don't leave", and the two new singles "Spread Your Love"/"Blue Night In Africa" and "Circus In C Minor"/"Urban Savage". Another production where Schema Records presents a product that goes beyond trends and fashions, where the only common denominator is "Music"!

This time Schema Records would like to present you the re-mastered version of "Novo Esquema Da Bossa" by Quintet to X previously released in autumn 1995. However this version (apart from the new cover art) also contains three tracks taken from the 12inch "Balanca pema/Suono nuovo/Mentira" which were never released on CD. With this release Quintet to X confirm their strong Italian jazz identity with an album that demonstrates a spontaneous yet well crafted fusion between Soul, Jazz and Brazilian Bossa.
