Francisco Goya is Spain’s most celebrated artist and considered the father of modern art. Not only a brilliant observer of everyday life and Spain’s troubled past, he is a gifted portrait painter and social commentator par excellence. Goya takes the genre of portraiture to new heights and his genius is reappraised in a much-anticipated landmark exhibition at The National Gallery, London. Described by Picasso and Matisse as "the father of us all" Paul C�zanne is considered one of the greatest artists of all time. During his life C�zanne painted almost a thousand works, two hundred of which were portraits. Despite this proliferation he remains the least well known of the impressionists and perhaps the most misunderstood. C�zanne - Portraits of a Life is based on a 'never-to-be-repeated' exhibition from the National Portrait Gallery, London; Musee d'Orsay, Paris; and Washington's National Gallery of Art. These portraits provide the substance of this illuminating film, which casts entirely new light on Cezanne's life and work. Shot in 4k, featuring interviews with art experts and conversations with his great-grandson Philippe C�zanne, viewers travel to the artist's home and studio in Provence. Through C�zanne's correspondence the film provides a rare understanding of the significance and genius of C�zanne and a key to a true appreciation of 20th century art.

Four internationally celebrated films, first released in cinemas, are now available together on this release. Monet’s letters provide new insights into the man behind the sun-drenched canvasses- perhaps the most influential painter of the 19th and 20th centuries. Finally, we have ‘The Artist’s Garden: American Impressionism.’ Childe Hassam, William Merritt Chase and Philip Leslie Hale were celebrated artists belonging to the American impressionist movement. It’s a story closely tied to a love of gardens and a desire to preserve nature at a time of rapid urbanization in America. This mesmerizing film is a feast for the eyes.

One of the best pianists of our generation, Leif Ove Andsnes has been dazzling audiences with the five Beethoven piano concertos for the last four years. He performs primarily with the Mahler Chamber Orchestra, but has also worked with the best orchestras and conductors across the globe. Award winnin film-maker Phil Grabsky has been with Andsnes throughout this journey, and now presents this film which is much more than a tour documentary. EXHIBITION ON SCREEN presents Lucian Freud: A Self Portrait. One of the most celebrated British painters of our time, Lucian Freud is also one of very few 20th-century artists who portrayed themselves in self-portraiture with such consistency. Spanning nearly seven decades his self-portraits give a fascinating insight into both his psyche and his development as a painter, from his earliest portrait painted in 1939 to the final one executed 64 years later. This intense and unflinching gaze has produced a body of powerful, figurative works that places him in the forefront of great British painting. Featuring fascinating interviews with past sitters, friends and leading art experts such as Tim Marlow, Martin Gayford and Anita Taylor this intensely compelling documentary reveals the life's work of a master which, when seen together, represents an engrossing study into the dynamic of ageing and the process of self-representation.

Come on a journey through the life of one of the most prevalent female icons: Frida Kahlo. She was a prolific self-portraitist, using the canvas as a mirror through all stages of her turbulent and, at times, tragic life. Guided by interviews, commentary and Frida's own words, Exhibition on Screen uncovers that this, however, was not a life defined by tragedy. Featuring key exhibitions and interviews with world-renowned Kahlo curators, EXHIBITION ON SCREEN explores the extraordinary symbolism and themes in these personal canvases to seek a deeper understanding of the real Frida Kahlo. Gardens have always been a source of inspiration for artists, and have been the subject of many paintings for their beauty, color, light, and atmosphere. While the most well-known painter of gardens is Claude Monet, other greats such as Van Gogh, Pissarro, Matisse, and Sargent all utilized the garden as a meaningful focus of their talents. Works from all of these artists were featured in a major exhibition from The Royal Academy, London called “Painting the Modern Garden.” This film journeys from the gallery to the gardens which inspired the paintings.
