Radiophonie vol 14 is a collection of trailers broadcast in 2021-22 by various Radio France channels. CD 1 is devoted to the new France BLEU package, specially composed by Pascal Obispo and James Gravity; on CD 2 we discover France Inter theme songs rearranged by Christophe Minck, Clément Ducol, Clément Léotard, Alexandre Finkin and many others.

Suono, the sound from which all music originates: how to cause it? How to give it movement, to drive it, to combine it with other sounds? In a word, how to write it, the better to discover it? All of those are questions to which each of the seven pieces in this recording attempts to provide an answer. In their own way, these pieces aim to embark listeners on a voyage to the “elsewhere” that threads through the imagination of E´dith Canat de Chizy, guiding her in an exploratory vision of the universe of sound.

On January 21st, 22nd and 23rd of 2022, the multidisciplinary artist Joseph Schiano di Lombo gave six live performances on the 22nd and last floor of the tower of the Maison de la Radio et de la Musique. Alone on stage, in the dark and lit only by the lights of the city, he composed from one concert to the next a tribute to the shadows and a love song for the light.

John Greaves follows up his last opus for Radio France Verlaine Gisant with a selection of texts from Appollinaire’s Alcools. A poetic, musical extravaganza in the company of long time accomplices: Jeanne Added, Himiko Paganotti, Olivier Mellano, Vincent Courtois, Sylvain Lemaitre and Bertrand Belin. John Greaves (born 23 February 1950) is a British bass guitarist and composer who was a member of Henry Cow and has collaborated with Peter Blegvad. He was also a member of progressive rock band National Health and jazz-rock supergroup Soft Heap, and has recorded several solo albums, including Accident (1982), Parrot Fashions (1984), The Caretaker (2001) and Greaves Verlaine (2008).

Radiophonie vol 13 presents the sound design broadcast by various Radio France channels in 2020-21. The new sound scape of France Culture, composed by Chloé Thévenin, is on album 1. The second album presents rearranged theme tunes to for flagship programs such as Popopop by Antoine de Caunes, Affaires Sensibles or Grand Débat, on France Inter and many other channels.

Radiophonie volume 11 presents the sound universe of some Radio France channels: France Inter, France Culture, France Musique and Mou’v. The compositions of Loik Dury, Christophe Minck, Christophe Heral, Arthur Simonini, Rémi Quencez, Clément Léotard and many others, reflect the mood of each channel. Established in 1975, Radio France is a national broadcasting company. The building that houses Radio France is the largest ever built in France. Not only does Radio France present its aforementioned channels, it also provides 44 local stations.

There is Ground Under Ground is a stratification of systems, a contemporary music where evocative images generate stories within stories, an aggregate sound mass that sets us vibrating almost irresistibly. An electro-acoustic architecture, frontal and playful, occasionally abstract, where voluptuous shapes materialize, flirting with the sound and the pulsation. There is Ground Under Ground features thirteen original tracks by Regis Boulard and Louis Soler. Percussionist Boulard and guitar/bass/keyboardist Soler are joined on this recording by jazz violinist Regis Huby, and vocalist Marie Boulard.

With their refreshing melodic invention, humor, gaiety and upbeat tempi, the playful and colorful compositions of Régis Campo defy any affiliation to major aesthetic currents of the late 20th century. “Street Art”, his new album for the Signature Radio France label, features fourteen virtuoso musicians of the ensemble TM+, conducted by Laurent Cuniot. Located in the Parisian suburb Nanterre, TM+ performs a broad contemporary repertoire, including classics from the 20th century like Schönberg and Stockhausen as well as the youngest French and international composers. And should it fit with the programming TM+ even plays the 19th century chamber music. Indeed programming is essential to this ensemble, who insists that a contemporary classical concert should be “one work” where the individual pieces have a meaningful connection with each other. Founded in 1986 by Laurent Cuniot, who still leads the ensemble, TM+ has a nucleus of 20 skillful and hard working musicians.

When Pulse Perspective comes to an end, after all the emotion, the rhythm, the musical inspiration, it's improvisations and constructs, the overriding question is: how can a piece of music be as "visual" as this? How can it suggest so many imaginary worlds, cinematographic ones in particular? It's actually quite unsettling to discover such a galaxy of interior images triggered by a single sound world. But before examining the canvas more closely, we first need to rewind back to the beginnings of a project that Dominique Grimaldi himself defines as "pop, world, jazz, minimalist, contemporary." Eclectic composer and virtuoso bass-player Dominique Grimaldi recorded Pulse Pers-pective in 2018, in Studio 106 of the Maison de la Radio. The album is a prolongation of First Meeting in some respects, already released on the Signature label in 2000 and created with Renaud-Gabriel Pion. Pulse Perspective draws the listener into an imaginary narration distantly nourished by atmospheres and textures of King Crimson, Franck Zappa, Steve Reich and Henri Dutilleux. Grimaldi's research opens perspectives, explorations of spatiality and urbanity that orientate the sound scenario offered to the listener's imagination.

Brussels Vocal Project with composer and drummer John Hollenbeck has created modernized versions of classic tales. The composer used lyrics written by the collective to explore the possibilities of an unusual setting: fives voices and drums. Humor flirts with strangeness in these contemporary pieces while never losing focus on the narrative. Hollenbeck is a composer of music uncategorizable beyond the fact of being always identifiably his. A conceptualist able to translate the traditions of jazz and new music into a fresh, eclectic, forward-looking language of his own invention, intellectually rewarding yet ever accessibly vibrant. A drummer and percussionist possessed of a playful versatility and a virtuosic wit. Most of all, a musical thinker - whether putting pen to paper or conjuring spontaneous sound - allergic to repetition, forever seeking to surprise himself and his audiences.
