Yuri Bashmet, (b. 1953) has won a numerous awards and prizes for his performances, including the People’s Artist of the USSR, Sonning Award, Order of Honour, and a Grammy Award.

Christopher Lennertz is a composer and producer for film, television, records, and video games. He first made a splash with his breakout score for Alvin and the Chipmunks. Since then he’s proven his steadfast talent with films like the star-studded Horrible Bosses, the box office smash Ride Along, and the upcoming Think Like A Man Too.Lennertz’ adeptness for a multitude of genres has put him on the map time and time again. Furthermore, he’s tapped into the indie world, scoring films like Alfred P. Sloan winner Adam (Fox Searchlight), Girl In Progress, andTortilla Heaven, which garnered the very first Film-Music award for Best Independent Score.

Sony Music Masterworks is thrilled to announce it's first release from Nigel Stanford, the creator behind the viral "Cymatics" video that visualized a brand-new synthesis of music, art and physics. Accompanied by a new title-track video that's sure to amaze, Automatica will be released on September 15, 2017 Automatica is the New Zealand artist's first album since 2014's Solar Echoes, which featured the "Cymatics" single. Automatica takes Stanford's trademark synthesis of dance-pop, electronica, and technological innovation to a new level. It's also his first album with vocals, featuring guest singers Catey Shaw, Elizaveta, and Dallin Applebaum, and rapper Noah Caine. "I've done the instrumental thing my whole life, but I've always loved pop music, loved rap, " Nigel says, "and 'Cymatics' gave me a bit more exposure and allowed me to meet some more talented people and not do everything my own self!" Still, he does play all the instruments - not just electronics but also guitar, bass, and drums. "Most of the drums were real at one point, " he adds with a laugh, "before getting processed and sampled and chopped up."

2015 album from the acclaimed Argentinian cellist. On Prayer, Sol Gabetta takes the listener with her on a meditative musical journey. The repertoire on Prayer is a selection of classical music inspired by Jewish melodies. Wherever Gabetta plays, she impresses with her captivating interpretations, her passionate, full-bodied play and her charismatic conquering personality. Her great versatilityof style and repertoire distinguishes her and she can grip an audience through her music.

As electronic music matured during the latter half of the 20th century, composers such as these created bold new worlds with genuinely new sounds.

Superstar tenor Jonas Kaufmann could easily fill his performance calendar with Verdi, Wagner and Puccini. But, for Kaufmann, however much he loves opera, interpreting the classical lieder repertory is the highest order of singing. It demands far more detailed work than any other vocal discipline, more color, more nuances and a greater range of dynamics. On Kaufmann’s new album, Schubert: Winterreise, the opera star tackles what is generally regarded as the pinnacle of lieder singing. It is considered the composer’s greatest contribution to the Lied repertoire. The Winterreise (Winter Journey) song cycle is set to twenty-four poems by the poet Wilhelm Muller and was completed by Schubert in 1827. Says Kaufmann, “I think that Winterreise has the same sort of cathartic effect as a Greek drama: the emotional experience purges the soul. For me, the work has an almost meditative effect because Schubert expressed these emotional depths that allow me to regain my own inner balance.”

After working together closely for more than twenty years and giving a number of recitals of Schubert’s great song cycles, Jonas Kaufmann and Helmut Deutsch make their first recording of Winterreise which documents their special partnership.

The composer of this soundtrack, Marco Beltrami, is renowned for scoring horror films, and has received two nominations for Academy Awards.

New York-born Beltrami studied at the Yale School of Music and in Italy, before learning film composition under Jerry Goldsmith. His career began with the soundtrack of the thriller Death Match in 1994, and he gained recognition for his work on horror films such as Mimic (1997), The Woman in Black (2012), and all four films in the Scream series (1995–2011). He has also composed two soundtracks for the Die Hard franchise: Live Free or Die Hard and A Good Day to Die Hard. His versatile talents have, however, taken him beyond these genres to work on independent films, for which he gained two prestigious awards: a Satellite Award for Best Original Score for the drama film Soul Surfer, and in 2012 the Hollywood Music in Media Award for Best Original Score for the critically acclaimed The Sessions. Beltrami's Academy Award nominations were for his work on the Western remake 3:10 to Yuma (2007), and for his music for The Hurt Locker (2010, in the category Best Original Score).

His reputation as one of today's leading movie composers is based on his command of a big range of orchestral effects, enabling him to rise above the usual standard of action and horror soundtracks. These gifts are evident in the compositions for Carrie. With a growling or shrieking string section, liquid bell-like sounds and insistent percussion, Beltrami creates moods that heighten the emotions in the film. The opening track has a yearning and eerie feeling, while the second, Birth of Carrie, raises the tension. After a quiet, though unsettling beginning the soundtrack explodes with Go to Your Closet, using the rhythm of a pounding heart, choral effects and clashing, discordant notes. Following a short interlude of tenderness in Love You Too, Mom and the melodious Mind Over Matter, the following pieces grow in intensity, until in Levitated Mass the music seems to swell and burst, becoming properly scary. There follows the sense of foreboding in Preparing for the Prom, the heavy beat of Bloodbath and the fluttering, shrill sounds of Kill 'Em All. As the film proceeds, Beltrami raises the volume and excitement, adding disturbing electronic chords to the orchestral sounds in Driving Her Crazy, and climaxing in the real sense of horror of House Crumbles.

These fine compositions will be enjoyed by all lovers of good-quality film music, and by fans of this film and the horror genre.
