2022 release. Rbb Kulturradio says: "Jan Vogler sings with his instrument". For "Pop Songs" he takes them by their word and recorded the most beautiful and popular vocal pieces from Monteverdi, Vivaldi, Bizet, Mozart to The Beatles, Gary Moore or and Micheal Jackson, spanning a period of almost 500 years. For this special project he teams up with the BBC Philharmonic and conductor Omer Meier Wellber. The pieces were specifically arranged for cello and orchestra and make them come alive in an unheard new splendor. The BBC Philharmonic accentuates Jan Vogler beautifully while conductor Omer Meier Wellber features on the accordion on a beautifully arranged version of Monteverdi's "Pur ti miro". Vogler chose the most delightful pieces from operas such as Dido and Aeneas, Carmen or the Magic Flute. He also does not shy away from 20th centuy favorites such as "Summertime" from Porgy and Bess, "It was a very good year" ironically performed by Frank Sinatra or Michael Jackson's "Billie Jean".

Wagner’s Siegfried is the third opera in the cycle that makes up Der Ring des Nibelungen. It premiered during the first complete performance of the cycle in August 1876 at the Bayreuth Festspielhaus. Rene Kollo performs in one of his greatest recorded performances in the title role of Siegfried. German conductor Marek Janowski is a brilliant interpreter of Wagner, having conducted the first digitally recorded Ring cycle between 1980 and 1983.

The Dresdner Philharmonie is one of Germany's major orchestras and has laid, together with his Principal Conductor Michael Sanderling, its focus on recording the complete cycle of symphonies by Ludwig van Beethoven (1770-1827) und Dmitri Shostakovich (1906-1975). After having released Beethoven's and Shostakovich's symphonies nos. 6 in 2015, for which the orchestra has received positive reviews, this recording is the second album from the cycle. Michael Sanderling decided to pair Beethoven's symphony no. 3 and Shostakovich's symphony no. 10 because of the similar motivation of both composers: to display the current political situation, i.e. Napoleon's reign and Stalin's dictatorial regime.

Opus 2 - the second album of violinist Sebastian Bohren & Chaarts Chamber Artists for RCA Red seal. A singular combination of Mendelssohn’s early, rarely performed violin concerto in D minor with works by Hartmann, Respighi & Schubert. The Violin Concerto in D minor was composed when Mendelssohn was just 13, and has remained popular since its rediscovery in the middle of the 20th century by Yehudi Menuhin. The Concerto funebre for violin and strings has established itself as Karl Amadeus Hartmann's most familiar work. Hartmann (1905-1963) discovered new and individual solutions that confirm the importance of his concertos as significant and original contributions to the development of this form in the 20th-century. “Old dances and arias”, Suite No. 3 - masterpieces of Ottorino Respighi. His Antiche danze ed arie, free arrangements of arias and dances from the sixteenth and seventeenth centuries, enables listeners to rediscover forgotten rhythms and tones. Franz Schubert wrote the Rondo for Violin and Strings, D 438 in 1816. Like the roughly contemporary Adagio and Rondo concertante in F major, D 487, the work is a concertante piece designed to highlight the skills of the violin soloist. The piece was unpublished during the composer's lifetime, not seeing publication until 1897, when Breitkopf & Härtel published it in an edition edited by Eusebius Mandyczewski.

From Mozart to Rossini, from Bellini and Donizetti to Verdi, the soprano Olga Peretyatko has proven her versatility on the world's great opera stages and on studio recordings. Her Rossini recital was awarded an Echo Klassik Prize in 2016. Now she turns to the Russian repertoire with her fourth album for Sony Classical: Russian Light. Here the St Petersburg soprano sings opera arias by the leading Russian composers Mikhail Glinka, Nikolai Rimsky-Korsakov, Igor Stravinsky and Dmitri Shostakovich. Rounding off the programme is a selection of orchestral songs by Sergey Rachmaninoff, including the famously mellifluous Vocalise. She is accompanied on this, her first purely Russian album, by the Ural Philharmonic under the baton of Dmitry Liss.

Das Rheingold is dominated by Siegfried Nimsgern’s vibrant, articulate Alberich, Peter Schreier’s wonderfully vital, strikingly intelligent and articulate Loge and Theo Adam’s experienced Wotan. But Fricka, the Giants and Rhinemaidens are all well cast, and the whole performance grips one’s attention from start to finish.”

Jan Vogler presents his 2nd recording of Schumann's Cello Concerto but this time, with his own orchestra, the Dresden Festival Orchestra, consisting of more than 50 members from Europe's most renowned early music ensembles. In addition to the concerto, the orchestra plays Schumann's Second Symphony. The repertoire presented here connects the Dresden Music Festival and its orchestra to the productive Dresden period of Schumann's work since both works were composed during that time. The Second Symphony was written between December, 1845 and October, 1846 in Dresden, the Cello Concerto immediately followed after he had left the city.
