Barbershop: The Next Cutpicks up ten years after where the first film left off. Calvin and all of the familiar faces are still in the shop, but it has gone under major changes. Namely, that the shop is now co-ed. Four time Grammy Award winner Stanley Clarke is responsible for scoring the tracks on this album. In addition to his compositional skills, he is one of the best acoustic and electric bass players in the world. “Film has given me the opportunity to write large orchestral scores and to compose music not normally associated with myself… It’s given me the chance to conduct orchestras and arrange music for various types of ensembles. The Music Theater of Lincoln Center presents the soundtrack of Kismet. First produced on Broadway in 1953, the musical has gone on to receive the 1954 Tony Award for best musical. A film version was later released by MGM. This recording features the original cast members Alfred Drake, Anne Jeffreys and Lee Venora.

The TV Series Fargo, created by Noah Hawley, is inspired by the 1996 film of the same name which was written and directed by the Coen brothers. This soundtrack includes 15 tracks, all of which were featured on the show. Artists include Fleetwood Mac, Burl Ives, Tweedy, White Denim, and Bobby Womack, among others.

Digitally remastered and expanded deluxe two CD edition. The original Shaft soundtrack reached #1 on Billboard and won a Grammy for Best Film Score, while the "Theme" won the Oscar for Best Original Song. However, the music from soundtrack and the film were actually not the same. After recording the music that would be used in the film in L.A., Hayes returned to Memphis to re-record songs to be released as the soundtrack. It's taken 48 years, but finally both the music from the film and the soundtrack can be heard together in this deluxe two CD edition.

Denis Villenueve's masterful Blade Runner 2049 features a score composed by legendary maestro Hans Zimmer. The score was composed in tandem by Zimmer and his longtime collaborator Benjamin Wallfisch. The duo was brought in somewhat later in the production process, after the score's initial composer, Icelandic composer J�hann J�hannsson, ceased involvement due to creative differences. Villeneuve explained his decision to replace J�hannsson with Zimmer in an interview with Al Arabiya. "The thing I will say is that making movies is a laboratory," he explained. "The movie needed something different, and I needed to go back to something closer to [the original film's composer] Vangelis. J�hann and I decided that I will need to go in another direction - that's what I will say." The decision seemingly paid off, as Clint Worthington notes in his review of the film: "[Zimmer and Wallfisch] lean heavily on Vangelis' original 1982 score for inspiration, but 2049 is refreshingly light on incidental music, mostly allowing the booming, immersive sound design to take center stage." In additional to Zimmer and Wallfisch's original compositions, the soundtrack features songs by Frank Sinatra, Elvis Presley, and Lauren Daigle.

Lost In Translation (Music from the Motion Picture Soundtrack) was the soundtrack to Sofia Coppola's Academy Award winning movie of the same name. The soundtrack earned supervisor / composers Brian Reitzell and Kevin Shields a BAFTA nomination. It featured five Kevin Shields tracks (one of which was a My Bloody Valentine track) it also featured artists including; Air, Death in Vegas, Squarepusher and The Jesus and Mary Chain.

Another in Harbinger Records’ acclaimed series of Broadway Backers’ Auditions, I Love My Wife Backers’ Audition is a swinging romp about swinging singles with an equally swinging score by Cy Coleman and Michael Stewart. And it’s those songwriters who play the score and narrate the story. Singing duties are also shared by Broadway legend Laurie Beechman and Broadway mainstay Austin Pendleton. This merry quartet has a ball and so will the listeners.

The recording was made to send out to potential backers to entice them to invest in the show. Those who did found this intimate show (the musicians also played parts in the piece) to be a sleeper hit. It opened at Broadway’s Ethel Barrymore Theatre on April 17, 1977 and entranced the critics. New York Times critic Clive Barnes enthused that the show was “bright, inventive, amusing and breezy.” It ended up playing a remarkable 857 performances.

Our recording also features bonus tracks from two other Cy Coleman shows, Atlantic City, with lyrics by Christopher Gore, and Home Again, with lyrics by Barbara Fried. The five songs excerpted from their demo recordings suggest the range of Coleman’s output in the 1970s.

And for I Love My Wife, informative liner notes by Coleman biographer Andy Propst explain it all. How two couples from the suburbs of Trenton, New Jersey, spend a rollicking Christmas Eve. These friends, with a little help of strong eggnog and other libations (some smoked), decide to explore a ménage-à-quatre. They make it as far as the bed when…Well, we’ll let Mr. Coleman and Mr. Stewart tell you the story. The songs, the story and the enthusiastic creators make this CD a joy to listen to. The 12-page booklet also contains photos from the original Broadway production.

I Love My Wife Backers’ Audition makes for a joyful listening experience and a bit of nostalgia for people of a certain age. A huge hit on Broadway, a rousing score, narration by the creators and performances of two of Broadway’s finest talents. What more could one hope for in today’s parlous times?

It would be the first of eleven consecutive shows through September 14 - the longest run in the Hall's history. Not only that, but every show in the five-level, 2, 804-seat venue was sold out. Liza had the foresight to record three nights of concerts; two years later, in 1981, she began selling the limited release on vinyl at her live dates. But, deprived of proper retail distribution, the album never reached a wide audience... until now! It even gets better, though: Liza kept those pristine multitrack tapes of the three nights recorded at Carnegie Hall. The tapes revealed a treasure trove of performances not included on the original double album. Continuing with Harbinger Records’ acclaimed series of albums devoted to jazz pianist, composer, Broadway songwriter, and black music pioneer Eubie Blake, we proudly present the original demo to the proposed Broadway musical ‘Shuffle Along of 1950.’ Harbinger’s recording of Sissle and Blake singing the score to the original production of ‘Shuffle Along’ won the Grammy Award for its brilliant liner notes by Richard Carlin and Ken Bloom, authors of an upcoming biography of Eubie Blake to be published by Oxford University Press. They are repeating their assignment for this recording. Also included is a bonus track featuring remastering of the only surviving acetate of a historical “Salute to Ruth King.” Ruth King was a famous Cleveland DJ who celebrated black musicians. And such notables as Sissle and Blake and the legendary WC Handy, composer of St. Louis Blues, play for Ms. King. Several songs from the original ‘Shuffle Along’ are included as are new songs written especially for this production. Later, other musicians augmented the score, and these songs are also included in this rare recording.
