Katrine Madsen is ready to release her 9th album - a live album recorded in the summer of 2018 at Copenhagens Jazzhus Montmartre. The album sees Madsen once again join forces with Henrik Gunde Pedersen (Piano), Jesper Bodilsen (Acoustic Bass), Jonas Johansen (Drums), as well as Jacob Christoffersen (Piano) and consists of a series of her own compositions as well as a few standards. Katrine Madsen studied at the Royal Danish Academy of Music and has worked in Copenhagen on albums with numerous well-known jazz artists from around the globe. In 2002 she founded the Katrine Madsen Sextet. Her previous albums have all been well-received, and her live performances have taken her across Europe.

The unique quartet Carsten Dahl Experience was formed back in 2008 at a concert in Copenhagen Jazzhouse with high ambitions of musical interaction. As Dahl states: "My intentions aimed towards an orchestra where it could be possible to fly. We should be able to play on both a highly abstract level and compositionally tight, and to move within all spaces at once." All the Carsten Dahl Experience releases are now put together in this extraordinary box set. On the occasion of Carsten Dahl's 50th birthday in October, we also release a new live show as an album, taken from a sublime concert in Tobaksgaarden in Assens on 18th of September 2016. Here you will experience the four playmates: Carsten Dahl (piano), Jesper Zeuthen (sax), Nils "Bosse" Davidsen (bass) and Stefan Pasborg (drums), romping about in boundless experiments. The recordings contain brand new songs that represent the open and creative flow which these musicians always procure. The concert has an all-out magical vibe to it, and the unique tones of the Danish jazz superstars enchant the audience. Luckily, the music is now preserved for all to enjoy on CD. The “Live” release is also part of a box set released by Storyville, containg all five albums by the Carsten Dahl Experience. In recent years, some of the most exciting Danish jazz has been emanating from pianist, arranger and composer Kathrine Windfeld's Big Band. She's been widely praised by critics, both in Denmark and abroad. However, the 32-year-old Windfeld is also generous when it comes to letting others explore the possibilities of her 5-year-old big band - in this case an extremely experienced figure on the Danish jazz scene, saxophonist and composer Thomas Agergaard, who is 23 years Windfeld's senior. The orchestra is used to Windfeld's meticulously worked out and prepared compositions. With Agergaard, however, the music is often delivered spontaneously, and some of the compositions were crafted right in the studio, a whole new way for the band to work. "Thomas writes quite differently than I do," says Kathrine Winfeld, "with many different references to contemporary classical music, among other things, and he often goes in for the free-tonal approach, sometimes the symphonic. He works more spontaneously and thrives on the energy of the moment. This is beneficial to the music, but is also a challenge when we are so many together and have to make something work within a limited time frame." On this occasion Agergaard utilizes smaller units of the big band while also working brilliantly with the entire ensemble. Part of the repertoire consists of renewed preexisting compositions, such as Different Corner and the vehement Hast, while other compositions such as the ballad, Airborne Lotus, was written just before the recording was made.

Troels Jensen has finally established his dream project: a large band consisting of rhythm, reeds and voices—respectively The Healers, The Blues Horns and The Belles of Joy—Miriam Mandipira is now a featured member. Together they let the music roll along like a well-oiled freight train, through rockers and ballads, be they originals or standards. The Dane Troels Jensen started out as a cornetist in a New Orleans band, then moved on to bluegrass, country and western. With his bottleneck guitar in hand, he was spotted by legendary blues and gospel singer and guitarist Sister Rosetta Tharpe. She spurred him to follow her way, which he did as a vocalist, pianist and guitarist in the Delta Blues Band, a mainstay on the European scene for half a century. Miriam Mandipira was born and grew up in Zimbabwe. As a small girl, she became interested in music and through television, she became smitten by blues, gospel, jazz and soul. She studied classical music, lieder and musicals at school and became well versed in technique and performance. Before her graduation she had to make a choice, and returned to her first love in music, the one that had grabbed her emotions. Professionally, she sang jazz and blues in Zimbabwe, then Africa, before she reached Denmark ten years ago. Her voice carries the legacy of the greatest singers of jazz and soul like Billie Holiday, Etta James and Aretha Franklin. Mandipira and Jensen has performed together on numerous occasions to great critical acclaim. Their new project My Love promises to bring together the best from the jazz and soul tradition with a lively, modern spirit produced by a large band where each member gives their all to the music.

This live recording is from an intense July evening during the 2015 Copenhagen Jazz Festival where the Tomas Franck Quartet totally brought the house down. Backing Tomas Franck up is a trio led by the exceptional pianist, Carsten Dahl, one of his all-time mos timportant musical collaborators. The attentive rhythm section is rounded out with Daniel Franck on bass and the new American stellar drummer, Rodney Green. One of the greatest contemporary jazz musicians, Tomas Franck has a musical strength common to few. His career has brought him closer to a finer sense for the very substance of music. While this is not a prcoess that rewards instantly, probably only a handful of other tenor saxophonists in the world today play with his degree of integrity. In the liner notes, Montmartre music director Christian Brorsen writes: "The music speaks for itself, and one can sense how everything falls into place. Audacious leaps into the unknown are taken, but each time, like a cat, the quartet lands firmly on its musical feet. And the audience reacts accordingly. Whether they were sitting on the edge of their seats of hanging at the bar, momentarily forgetting their drinks, everyone was blown away by this special evening. Now it has been immortalized on record. An example of jazz at its best - in the moment, with no holds barred and no safety net!"

Famous Danish jazz pianist Carsten Dahl established his Experience quartet in 2007, with some of his most favored musicians in the Danish jazz scene. "Reverentia" completes the Experience trilogy.

This new release features eight songs from a team of young talents and experienced performers. Zier Romme is one of tomorrow's Danish jazz stars. Behind the piano he celebrates legends like Oscar Peterson as he pays homage to the classics and puts a fresh spin on the genre. He is joined here by guitarist Pelle von Bulow, who is known for his subtle melodic playing and his ability to listen to his bandmates, bassist Rune Fog-Nielsen who is making a name for himself in several Danish quartets and trios, and drummer Rodney Green, a seasoned musician who lends his expertise to these young jazz stars.
