La Dolce Maniera presents a CD dedicated to Carlo Gesualdo (1566-1613), an emblematic figure of the end of the Renaissance. Prince of the highest order, unfortunately famous for having brutally murdered his wife and her lover, Gesualdo is also considered one of the most revolutionary composers of musical history.

The piano is a quite versatile instrument and essentially a percussion by itself; percussion is per se a universe of possibilities, at times a keyboard in itself. The invention on emission and interaction modes may generate variably dis-concerting situations – therefore exploring the instruments of the three pieces may help us to briefly outline the sound scenarios. The programme chosen by Beneventi and Rebaudengo summons a wide choice of instruments but somewhat coalesced in strong characterizations (metal - skin - wood). Composers and pieces offer a live and unexpected image of the “specialty” of this duo, and represent the tout-court compositional invention of France and Italy from the last decades. If we join the nationalities with the origins (Jewish-Moroccan and Greek for the French Ohana and Aperghis, and Lecce, Southern Italy, for Fedele), a nice geometrical figure can be drawn in the Mediterranean Sea; perhaps the eloquence and expansiveness of their musical pieces, so different from each other, are the result of this common background. In brief, the interpreters, once having conceived and recorded the album, have themselves composed a thoughtful and evocative piece.

Fabio Nieder writes of his new release: “Voice and song are the implicit themes that ideally connect my compositions on this [album]. They unfold over a period from … the year of my Fünf Klavierstücke composed at the age of 17, until 2017... The human voice in a strict sense is only present in two compositions: in Zwei Spiegel, where the voice is virtual (created electronically) and in Thümmels vergissmein-Lied where the homorhythmic song that intones the words of Cladio Magris is projected into constantly changing harmonic spectres 'selected' by six singers, who are also electronic. In the other compositions it is the popular song, the Lutheran melody, or even the Trieste canzonetta da strada, the popular version of an original melody by Schrammel, that survive in the sound of the piano, obviously losing the articulation of the words and the original vocal quality but maintaining the vitality of the accent and character of these melodies.” Luca Richelli and Alvise Vidolin supply the electronics on this album, while Aldo Orvieto and Dario Savron perform piano and percussion, respectively.

Born in Bern on 1924 Klaus Huber studied composition with Willy Burkhard and Boris Blacher. He also studied violin with Stefi Geyer. In 1959, Huber composed the cantata Des Engels Anredung and die Seele and it sailed to an international level at the World Music Days of the IGNM. He lead the composition class at the Academy of Music in Basel then the composers' class and became the Dean of the Institute for contemporary music at the Staatliche Hochschule fur Musik in Freiburg. Klaus Huber's work embraces a very wide range of musical forms from Oratorio to chamber music, orchestral music to solo pieces. Huber has a vision of the musical praxis and theoretical reflection as inseparable. His articles about art, the artist and society reveal him as an acute analyst and critic. The wideness and singularity of his artistic line makes him one of the most prominent figures in the second half of the 20th century.

Under the name Wanderer - the iconic figure of Romanticism - the guitar duo formed by Giacomo Copiello and Michele Tedesco makes its debut with a recording containing an exceptionally romantic repertoire. The performers' careful choice of instruments offers the listener a varied range of historic guitars sounds: early 20th century instruments for the transcribed repertoire of Brahms, Schubert and Franck while the works of Mertz are played on the traditional 19th century romantic instruments they were originally intended for.

Simone Zanchini writes of this new release: "In general, I've never been interested in tributes, homage, revisiting. Personally, I've always found them something old, rather pathetic and tied to the past. But when I was asked to make a tribute to Secondo Casdei, I couldn't refuse. No, Casadei is something else! Because Casadei represents my past, like the past of all Romagna people: not just a musical past, but past life in general. Beacause if you're born in Romagna and you decide, when you're seven, to play the accordion, Casadei automatically becomes a necessary stage the invades your life." One of the most interesting and innovative accordionists on the international scene, his research moves through the boundaries of contemporary music, acoustics and electronics, sound experimentation, and cultivated contamination without forgetting tradition, thus resulting in a very personal approach to improvisation. He graduated with honors in classical accordion at the "G. Rossini" Conservatory of Pesaro, under Maestro Sergio Scappini. An eclectic instrumentalist, he has intense concert activities with groups of different musical extractions (improvisation, contemporary music, jazz, and classical). He has played in major festivals and shows in Italy and in the most important international festivals.
