Verdi’s opera Louisa Miller has not been frequently recorded. The version released here on a 2-disc set is rare, casting two very famous opera voices of the 1960s: Giuseppe Di Stefano and Antonietta Stella. Nino Sanzogno conducts the Orchestra e Coro del Teatro Massimo di Palermo for this recording.

In seventeenth-century church music, features of the Renaissance tradition (polyphony, modality) coexisted with elements of Baroque innovation (harmony, tonality) and merged into the concertato style. The Salmi Concertati op. II by Father Francesco Antonio Urio included in this Vespers dedicated to the Virgin, follow this transformation with full rights. The Vesprus, here in it's first modern performance ever, shows vocal pieces for three voices of rare melodic quality where the imitative style, the counterpoint, the modal harmony, the numerous tempo changes, the various melismata and a number of diminutions reveal remarkable compositional ability.

Written around 1740, this collection of Sonatas was likely composed to celebrate the arrival of the illustrious Salvatore Lanzetti, an incredible cello virtuoso, at the official court of Turin. It was at this noble destination that the fifty-year-old Giovanni Battista Somis, forefather of the Piedmontese school of violin that included the most famous interpreters of Italian music, wrote these works and elaborated upon his compositional idea of extreme elegance that differed from the works being composed by his peers. Here, the works are recorded by Ensemble Il Continuo, which consists of Gioele Gusberti, Claudio Frigerio, and Marija Jovanovich, all renowned soloists and chamber musicians in their home countries.

After the recent death of Daniela Dessi, her husband, the tenor Fabio Armilliato sings to remember one of the most important sopranos of our time. Together, with the pianist Marco Sollini and the young soprano, Marta Mari, Fabio Armilliato gives life to an emotional religious concert with rare repertoire and first world premiere recordings dedicated to Daniela Dessi. Some works here were composed by Armilliato.

Nicolas Siret, minor composer of the French Aria, is known for his works for hapsichord written between the XVII and the XVIII Century, at the same time of Couperin, his great friend. We got only few compositions of his and the discography counts few issues. This release collects, for the first time, the complete works for harpsichord played by Fernando De Luca, academic and researcher of the philological practice of the XVII and XVIII Centuries.
