The guitar began to gain widespread popularity during the early 19th century, largely due to technical developments in the instrument. During this time, composers began to take the instrument seriously, and thus more and more compositions for the instrument were written. This release gives a broad overview of some of the most influential guitar composers of the 19th century, including Mauro Giuliani, Napoleon Coste, Luigi Legnani, and Giuseppe Anelli. Luigi Attademo is one of the foremost guitarists of his generation. He adds his own flair to these tracks, and performs all songs on historical 19th century instruments.
