Flavio Boltro introduced me to Leo Corradi at the 2011 Artusi Jazz Festival, with whom we played at the festival. + Later on, we played together again – as a trio and a quartet – music by Stefano Paolini and myself, characterized by strong funk elements. + We recorded at the end of a long day, at breakneck speed and in one take, preserving the ‘live’ feeling, with the outcome resulting in a catchy, vibrant sound, fun yet hard to label. + Connected to tradition, the music embraces a spread of influences from Soul to Funk and Boogaloo, but always sounds unmistakably contemporary.
