Carl Orff's worldfamous hit "Carmina Burana" belongs to the most performed orchestral and choral works of contemporary music. "Carmina Burana" was the first work that could bring Orff's intentions and desires, which had until that point existed pluralistically side by side, into a tonality - the search for compact, elementary forms of expression, the joy in the discovery and revitalization of old, longforgotten arts, and finally the tendency toward drama, theater, to the action on stage.
